Stickpile Tunnel is famed to be named for a man who died near there and found on a stick pile. We will never know. It is one of the many tunnels in Green Ridge State Forest that were built for the Western Maryland Railroad, used from around late 1800's to the 1970's. I owned a cabin across from Point Lookout in WV for a long time & in the 70's & 80's, before the gates, we would drive through these tunnels! Stickpile tunnel was at a "stop" on the Western Maryland Railroad as it was the site of a small town that supported the apple harvesting industry.

Vehicle camping is only allowed at state sites with a permit. Otherwise , it is illegal to be close to your vehicle. As of 2024 the sites are no longer free. Biden is locking the outdoors up.

I owned an 1985 Wagoneer (and loved it) and when I first saw the new model I was soooo disappointed that Jeep went to a boat-sized bus-like monstrosity. Now, I think it’s a great looking vehicle.

Your videos are improving so much over time and are nice and to the point! My buddies and I were right behind you at AOAA last year for a few miles of trails and your XJ is an awesome all-arounder! If there is any way to upload in higher resolutions/clarity, it would really showcase PA's gorgeous trails. A lot of these videos look "greasy" and not super clear visually; hard to say if it is TH-cam being greedy and wanting "premium" subscriptions or something else. 1440P+ would be awesome as it seems TH-cam is trying very hard to squeeze all they can from the 1080p crowd

I Have done Mt Washington, and Pikes Peak, and Not far from Pikes Peak (and 200 ft higher at 14,265) Mount Evans which is now called Mount Blue Sky. Evans was the scariest with no guard rails and hairpins. All done on my 2004 Harley Electra Glide.

Went out wheeling at Plymouth 5 corners last fall. Buddy of mine lives and has a shop (Tyson Autoworks) right down the road... great trails out through there... was cool to see it in a TH-cam vid!

I go to New Hampshire a lot. I would like to try the green trail at Jericho. I have a 2000 XJ with 4 inch lift and 31 inch Mickey Thompson Baja Legend tires. Also a spartan locker in the rear. What do you think will it be ok for the Green {easy?) trail?

I have pictures of my Jeep from under Kinzua Bridge. This was long before it was blown over. I have even been across the bridge on a steam powered train. It is pretty cool to have such an iconic thing in my back yard.

We did the Olson fire tower and the Canyon Rim Road today and it was a blast! Thanks Jon for making us aware of places like this. My wife and I have been coming to the Dolly Sods / Canaan Valley area to vacation for more than 15 years, but did not know about this great place to go wheeling and see new beautiful sights. Another 4x4 driver we met told us about the Canaan Loop Road, and said it was longer and more challenging than the Canyon Rim Road. They said our Jeep would make it though. They also said they were going to a “Skyway” road/trail later today… got to do some research on where that is.

Shot my first dear, In Green Ridge, and it happens to be a buck. You used to be able to drive four wheelers and dirt bikes here , but maryland stopped that. It's a cool forested area.
