I believe for "older" shavers, a more moisturizing and medicinal aftershave is appropriate to combat the effects of shaving and aging; so, recommend alcohol-free (witch hazel) that contain some helpful ingredients (aloe, glycerin, etc.). Currently, I'm a fan of Taconic. Only alcohol-based one I consider is Captain's Choice.

Love the Proraso menthol/eucalyptus splash. It gives me a great send off in the morning. Someone mentioned Captain's Choice,
    tell me more about it.

Try Osage Rub if you like Menthol I prefer it over proraso

I want that for scrubber. Where can I get that?

So question...balm first and then splash? Or splash first, and then balm? And in your minds...why in that order?

Great question. In the skincare world, it's always recommended going thinnest to thickest. So splash first, then balm. This order helps for maximum absorption of products on the skin.

Does the alum bar and witch hazel prevent razor bumps?

Peace Ninja does great for me. Cold wet alum bar, then a witch hazel based toner is my go to. Depending on how aggressively I shaved depends on if I need a balm for razor burn haha

SafeShaving TonyP - Debating whether I should go for alcohol or alum bar . From the looks of it tho, alcohol seems to burn freshly shaved skin lol

Peace Ninja I recommend the alum over alcohol. Alum can be used as underarm deodorant too

I have very oily skin would one help with that?

    • @WestCoastShavingChinoHills

Hey Taron, An alcohol aftershave would actually dry out your skin and cause your face to produce more oil. Instead, try a witch hazel based splash or a balm. This will help keep the oil at bay and your skin feeling great. If you have any further questions, let us know!

You guys at WCS have customer service that is above par. I ordered the Muhle R41, Stirling Barber shop soap, Polsilver and Gillette Silver Blue Blades. They emailed me with my tracking and all that good stuff and I emailed them back saying that I’m excited to use my new safety razor and that I’ve been using a “Shavette” when I got into traditional WetShaving about six months ago and they messaged me saying that I didn’t put the coupon discount code in and they did it for me and gave me an extra five dollars off after the fact!!!
So I definitely recommend doing business with them

Stirling aftershave has the longest lasting smell.. LONG LIVE THE HAVERFORD!! (and stirling gentleman, executive man, and barbershop!)

      It definitely does not

Right? I was thinking the same thing lol. In fact, that’s my ONLY con with Stirling. I absolutely love their soaps but the scents don’t last long at all. Same goes for their balms and splashes
