Debbie C, It depends on how big it is. It's something you will need to experiment a little bit with. Maybe start with a decrease ever 3rd stitch and see if thats tight enough. If you you can either pull it out and do every second, or add another row of
    decreases.

im so glad I found your youtube channel. I can not learn from a book and I cant seem to fully understand anyone elses tutorials. I love how you repeat yourself and dont just let people have to figure it out on there own after the first few stitches. I literally watch pause watch pause watch pause. I had to use a smaller needle after the granny square to make my hat fit properly but I really like this hat and so does my daughter...

Thank you so much! You are a wonderful teacher. I appreciate that you are not hurried and you show your next stitch slowly so I know exactly where my hook and yarn are going. I'm making a shawl in solid red and using an off white for the trim. Next I am going to make a granny stitch hat, but I'll be using an "E" hook due to the fact that the yarn I want is in 4oz balls, 208 yards. It's fairly fine. If it turns out, I'll post a picture. Again, thank you and I look forward to learning lots from you! 😃

I love the result.I love your tutorial. I love the options you show for the band. I want to make lots more beanies and try all the band options. My goal this summer is to nail the rope stitch! It's 26 degrees C outside but I'm not taking my granny beanie off.

Rope stitch, is that the same as a reverse single crochet ? That one does take a little practice until you don't feel like a contortionist 😀

I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial. As always, yours are easy and enjoyable to follow. I decided to make mine longer and turned it into a slightly slouchy winter hat. I’m pleased with the result. I used a 5 mm hook and stopped when the crown reached 12 cm for myself (an adult), even though your instructions said to go to 22 cm crown for an adult woman - that was outrageously big. I live in Canada and I far as I have seen, we don’t have 5.5 mm hooks, only 5 mm or 6 mm. Anyhoo, I went with the 5 mm hook and it worked out and fits my head just fine. 👍🏻

Wonderful video. I am wondering if you could do the Bridgette Beret from Red Heart and film it? I am a visual learner so reading the pattern is confusing for me. Thank you so much
