Thanks :) We're glad you liked it. We had such a great time in Yekaterinburg. Its a city that is often overlooked by tourists, but this needs to change. Hopefully we can encourage more people to visit.
Thanks for sharing this video guys! Yekaterinburg is an amazing city, the capital of the Ural region with lots of historical places, great universities and beautiful people. Love this city, the city of my wild youth )) Have a great journey!
Wow! you both are so sunny and positive people! I couldn't stop smiling while watching your videos! :) Me and my husband were just looking for information about lake Baikal when we came across your trip in Russia. We started with the first Baikal video and your trip to Listvyanka and just watched all the next videos about your Russian trip! :) I come from a city called Krasnoyarsk and I am pretty sure I got a glimpse of our train station where you bought some marshmallow-cakes :D never been to Baikal lake though. My husband is german and we live in Munich - if you ever come to Bavaria, l would be happy to give you some tips on cool places like Bavarian lakes in the Alps or nice little Bavarian towns :)
Thanks Daria! We would love to explore Germany properly one day and Bavaria in particular looks spectacular and full of history. Some local knowledge is always greatly appreciated 😁 Lake Baikal is definitely worth seeing and we only scratched the surface. In fact, we would love to return to Russia and see more, it’s been one of our favourite countries we’ve travelled to 😁
Fortunately, it was warm and sunny that day. Lucky you are)) A lot of foreigners, who came in the beginning of summer to Yekaterinburg , were confused of its weather, because it was so cold and rainy.
We found that it was fairly easy to get by with English, although it would have been good to know some more Russian phrases. The locals liked it when we tried to speak Russian, even though we were probably getting it completely wrong! 😁
Thnx for the foodtips. I eat plantbased and hesitated to go on the same trip, now i see its possible te eat vegan. Question: was 1 day Jekaterinenburg enough? Or did you wanted to stay longer?
anne hendriks Hi Anne 😊 It is possible to eat vegan / vegetarian in China and Russia, Mongolia is a bit hard because they use a lot of dairy products. But generally speaking the food in Mongolia is a bit limited because they import most things. We found as you head West in Russia it gets easier and easier to find vegan/vego options. One day in Yekaterinburg is definitely not enough! Its doable and we had a blast but we were sad to leave.
Thanks 😊 Its a Canon EOS M6 with the 15-45mm kit lense. It has been a great option for us to start on but recently (after 6 mths of solid use) we're having a lot of issues with the AF. Hopefully it'll be easily fixed (might just need to clean the sensor well, but we're not camera experts).
The whole Russia has gathered in the comments :-) This wonderful couple attracts people as a magnet. I have been to Vladivostok in my youth, for a week or so. Such a romantic place. The strongest memory is the gigantic azure butterfly Machaon. It was not just big as a bird, it flew like a bird, high in the tree tops!
Totally agree! April and Tim are just so charismatic that they make every place they go shine:))) And oh - so sorry to dissapoint you, but Vladivostok is no longer that romantic as it used to be, there has been so many changes, and I have not seen a single Machaon this summer, hope they don't go extinct!
Clickin' on your video and hearing your accents, hmm...Aussies? Thank you very much for showing us Yekaterinburg, its beautiful sites, the onion gold-domed church was so EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL! And the food looked so good, thanks April and Tim for sharing and I'll be checking some other interesting videos of ya guys out! :)
just a little tip - there are public steam baths (Banya) litteraly in every russian city. So If you don't have accomadation and you're sweaty after 3 days in the train - banya is your best option to get clean, relax, have some nice broom massage. Prices are quite affordable. Better to look for 1st or second class options.
One more tip. If you are ever again in Moscow and have enough time, go to Sanduny Baths (Сандуновские бани). And go there to the best class (высший). It's the baths paradise. If you have once been to Sanduny, you will forget it never. In my humble opinion, Sanduny is one of the world's wonders. I have been there 3 or 4 times and dream of visiting it again.
If you'd stay a bit longer, we have beautiful lakes in South Urals, one of them Turgoyak is as clean as Baikal, but warmer, you can actually swim in it. So welcome next time
April and Tim Travel as everywhere in the world, the farther the better! You’re a nice couple btw, your wife reminds me my sister :-) so we’re not that different
Judging from your accents you're either from Australia or NZ but I'm inclined to believe you're Aussies :D Anyroad, greets from Russia! I'm glad you liked it here! Perhaps you should also come visit us in winter too.
Yes, we went to Moscow after Yekateringburg :) We love Russia and we're glad more people are visiting there. Its time to break down the stereotypes and let the world see what a fantastic country it is!

That one brief glimpse of graffiti is a rarity in various videos. Cannot say that I have seen a lot of graffiti in Russia, or am I just seeing the good spots?
We noticed graffiti and street art around Russia, but it was less common to see it in public areas where there are historic buildings. Some of it was quite good by talented artists 👍
