I have been actually doing both roles over the years without even knowing it XD that's how thin the line really is between both roles. Dont know which path to take though :(
Great Information! Great comparision. Good job! I'm in desktop support now and trying to move into the cloud. Would you recommend service desk -> infrastructure engineer -> Devops/Cloud? Seems to be the path you took
I was asked if I wanted to specialise in cloud, infra, network, database, and I was thinking.. all 4 options are cloud-based, so what's the cloud specialism about, a catch-all term for anything miscellaneous?
I need more context on your question. It sounds like you potentially work on-prom and your employer asked you to specialise in a certain area of architecture or offered you the opportunity to move to a cloud focused role? Hard to tell from your comment but yes, Cloud offers many services like networking, databases etc. They would all be cloud based, not on-prem.
@@techtoby_ thanks for your reply, it was an interviewer asking me for a security role... and I was too nervous to say I don't know what to specialise in. And sometimes I don't want to say the wrong thing either and say I want to focus on x when they only have y. I thought cloud sec and infra sec were the same thing to be honest. I did research a bit after the interview about the four specialisms. Fingers crossed I will hear back from the employer soon.
I wish to switch my career to IT,where should i start with? Mentioning i know programming language.Confused to choose among software engg, full stack developer and cloude engineer
Thanks for your clear explanation...❤ But sir may I know if a non it background person with 2 years of career gap could get certified as cloud engineer and get a job or will his/ her resume be rejected??
@@techtoby_ Sure sir but I'm anxious about my career gap being a barrier for my hiring.... please let me know if they hire people like me or ATS would reject my resume?
And Also I’m planing to learn Cloud and do a lot of project and then volunteer then internship and finally a job Pls well this pathway cover up for lack of certifications like Azure900
basically the same
I am infrastructure and rarely touch anything on prem and do dev ops stuff for developers. Really they are both
Thanks for the knowledge
The only video I needed.
I’m glad to hear that haha. Thank you 😁

which one would you say a platform engineer is closer to Devops or cloud engineer?
It’s closer to Cloud Engineer because they’re focused on the underlying platform of software.
A Platform Engineer can also work hybrid or on-prem.

You need to first choose a role and build a roadmap to learn the skills

You’ll need more than certificates. Projects are important to prove your skills

Career gaps are pretty normal
@@techtoby_ thank you so much sir 👍
How would someone in devops transition to cloud engineering
Just apply
Thanks, I wouldn’t need to do any extra training or learning?
Nope. It’s the same stack, just different responsibilities
Thank you Sir
