    Following!! It's great to see you living your dream. It took my dad passing away at an early age last year to realize I shouldn't wait to chase dreams! I am in the process of making one of them a reality now and have started my own business. Good luck guys and I am following along and sharing.

      Thanks! its great to have you aboard! Sometimes it does take something drastic to reposition our thinking. So sorry about your Dads passing. We are glad you are chasing your dreams. One of our main goals of this channel is to encourage people to follow their dreams as early as you can in life. All the best in your endeavors.

    Finally a MOTOR yacht cruising channel! Soon to join you guys after conversion to electric /magnetic drive propulsion. Catching up with ur vids..... ❤😉

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, you are going to have to tell me more. Are you documenting this conversion online anywhere? I am very interested in alternative marine propulsion. I do believe we are on the brink of some technology that could bring electric drives to the long range cruising community. When these diesels are done, I'd love to replace with electric. Please share any info you can. Cheers!

    After a lifetime of boating starting from power boats, then to sail for the last 25 years, now full circle back to power in a 34’ trawler, we look forward to a trip down the intra-coastal and then to the Bahamas. In the meantime, we can live vicariously through you guys eh. Added the eh because, you know, you’re Canadian eh. Anyway, looking forward to viewing your series. Have seen all the sailing vids.

    Better and better each video. Trawler videos of Bahamas are rare as the others have stated. I have so many questions but hopefully we can talk someday. As usual, it is currently snowing again here in Omak, WA. We are about sick of this stuff. Look forward to St. Thomas and our wedding. 105 more days!!!! bought airline tickets last weekend. We are set. Really love that Tolly and look forward to meeting someday or talking about what you like or would do different. Enjoy those turquoise waters. Enjoy the Bahamian sunsets and especially those dolphins and rainbows. We honestly appreciate the time you both take to make the videos. I know filming and editing is time consuming. Don't let it consume too much of your time and enjoy your experience. Stay safe Cyndi and Sheldon!

    The sunsets are awesome but after a few weeks you do get used to them. But the water, it just never gets old. Clear, turquoise, royal blue. Not US coastal waters like in St Augustine and above.

    watching the series again...curious why your destination was Mangrove Cay after your crossing, doesn't look very protected and did you have to check into customs first before you got there? Thanks, learning a lot for when it is our turn.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it isn't protected. It is only good for a calm stopover, we would of went on to Great Sale Cay if it wasn't calm. You are allowed to anchor when you are heading to a destination in the Bahamas to check in. We checked into Green Turtle Cay. Many check in there and anchor in the Bahamas along the way.

    Thank you guys for the videos, VERY well produced, Graphics, audio and of course the content.. ! I 've seen all 7 of the Bahamas Bound video series and will continue to watch the rest for sure.. In my opinion, If I could suggest something I would like to see a little more about the Behind the scenes. Route planning,. cost, fuel consumption, repairs, !! technical stuff, GPS route programming.... show us a little more of the boat, Engines room,. regular check up, how often you check the oil .... how do you eat, how do you sleep for so long in the boat ? who cooks ?
    Guys please, don't take me wrong,. you have done a very nice job with this series, I just think that for us, the boating fans, the other stuff is important too.. Congratulations,. very nice.. I saw all of them in one day... non stop.!

      Thanks so much Carlos for your wonderful feedback. It is so great to hear from viewers on what else they would like to see. We will incorporate your suggestions for sure, and have already answered some in our current Q&A series. The first of which is on fuel cost and burn rate to the Bahamas, th-cam.com/video/QpNBt0L9ww0/w-d-xo.html
      There is another Q&A episode coming out Sunday, so stay tuned for that. Thanks again. Hope to see you in the water someday. Cheers!

    This has been a wonderful series of videos on your Bahamas adventure. I will keep tuned in as your filming and commentary is exceptionally well done! A boater in the Toronto area all my life we somewhat unexpectedly sold our 1998 Cat diesel Sundancer 400 two years ago due to my wife's health issues. No regrets, as we are in our late 60's and we have had a wonderful time on the water with sailboats (our last was a C&C 40AC) and power. I have really enjoyed your series as you have accomplished the dreams of many boaters and you are doing it at the perfect time of life. Congratulations to you both on this achievement and many, many more years of fun and adventures afloat!

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah thanks for the wonderful comment Warren and for following us. We are glad you are still boating, even if it is in a blow boat. ;-) We love sailboats actually, and struggled with this purchase and if it should be a sail or power boat. Power won over this time. Next time power might not be so lucky. We hope you are continuing to fulfill your dreams as well. All the best to you and your wife.

    • @warrendavis5606
      @warrendavis5606 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the speedy response. Perhaps I was unclear - the Sundancer was our last boat and prior to it I have always been a sailor and 20+ year member of Mimico Cruising Club. Sailboats still have a special appeal for me. There is something really wonderful about the silent speed of making 6+ knots on a heel. We are likely out of boating now as my wife has osteoporosis and I have taken up tennis again which I love. Have a great time guys!!

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dan! Most of the way across was 7.5 knots. We went 17 knots for about 15 minutes. It was rough. :) The stream was about a knot to a knot and a half.

    • @Dan_C604
      @Dan_C604 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Searching for C-Shels oh wow, interesting! Fortunately for you the stream wasn’t too strong (although you had some winds and waves...). Last time I crossed we were in a small but powerful boat, stream was about 3.0 at the peak of the current and we crossed at 31 knots. Your video is awesome, cheers!!

    if you want to shine, ALWAYS show the routes, plots, waypoints, etc etc... so people can see what you did and were you stopped. Just showing the charts few seconds makes a world of difference for the cruising fans. Just DONT say WE cruised from point A to point B.

      9 hours is a loooong day when on the water ! I miss boating so much ! I had a Sea Ray 340 loved that boat ! I used to take it to Port of Orillia all the time and wound up docking in a cross wind every time but I managed it stern in. Lol. You should have heard the men on their radios on the dock commenting that it was a woman who landed ‘er! Ha ha.

    Tons of oil,petrol................ Why not a catamaran?

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I wouldn't say tons of oil or petrol. If look at our video on fuel burn it is actually not bad at all - th-cam.com/video/QpNBt0L9ww0/w-d-xo.html
      A catamaran would cost more overall in initial cost and in maintenance than the boat we have. It still has two engines, and you have to maintain the sails a rigging. Then going up to Canada we would have to remove the mast to get to Lake Ontario through NY. This is the best boat for us at this time, to do the east cost twice a year and the Bahamas. Now if we wanted to keep a boat south, a catamaran may just fit the bill. What a Catamaran would give us over our boat we have now is range, and there may be a day where we need more range, but not for a while yet.
