    Love your videos because its a motor yacht and not a sailboat. Very few GOOD motor yacht vlogs. How many knots did you do crossing ocean to Bimini and how many hours did it take? Keep making vlogs. Thank you.

      Thanks Frank! We ran mostly at around 8 knots. Went 18 knots 2 times for about 15-20 minutes each time. If I remember correctly, I don't think it took more than 6 hours from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini.

    Wow, awesome video. Only thing that sucks is that I didn’t come across this video and you guys a long time ago. Me, Gina my “better half” & many great friends of ours have made the crossed from Key Biscayne to Bimini the last 3 years in a row! Oh almost forget to mention by jetski 😉. We absolutely love Bimini, I don’t have to tell y’all how wonderful the people are on the Island. And after spending a week at a time there it wasn’t hard to see why they have so much to be grateful for. Can’t wait to check out some more of your videos. We both hope to travel more in the future. Keep up the great work

    Nice vids!! Just came across your Most of my cruising is limited to west/east coast of Florida and Keys... out of Sarasota. Did do a crossing to Bahamas several years ago, but on a friend's boat. Would like your cruising info for Carolina ICW, as I am planning a trip up to Chesapeake next Spring. Those areas probably shoaled due to recent storms in that area, and gov’t hasn’t caught up with local conditions. St. Augustine is one of my favorite places to get away to. Go there 2-3 times a year. Hope you two tried the 'Columbia' when you were in SA.

    Enjoyed the video, hopefully the engine knock isn't anything major.

    • @floridatabdigger3104
      @floridatabdigger3104 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A spun rod/main bearing will sound like knocking two baseball bats together, a rocker arm or bent push rod will be more of a ticking sound. Usually a spun bearing won't make the engine run rough (usually), but means a total take-down and machine work. A bent pushrod or broken rocker arm will make it run rough.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We would do, and have done the NJ ICW from
      Manasquan Inlet to Atlantic City in the previous year, however, it takes much longer than the ocean. So if its nice on the Ocean, we take it. Something we didn't capture in this video, but we did attempt, was doing the ICW from Atlantic City to Cape May. We got a half hour in and turned around, and went back to Atlantic City. Way too much shoaling, it was like the bottom jumped up in front of you every few minutes.

  • @justreallybored6014
    @justreallybored6014 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really dont mean to be negative. Im honestly trying to be helpful. Both of you HAVE to fix your postures. You both slouch so much, its actually compressing your skeletal systems, which in turn compresses your organs. I never never seen either one of you sit or stand up straight once in all your videos, never, not even close. I work in medicine. I do echocardiograms for a living. I travel the US doing this job. I work directly with the human bodies of my patients and I see the things that make people age prematurely. Posture is key!!!! I have never seen either of you stand up straight, or sit up straight. You are the must hunched over people I have ever seen in my life and it will catch up with you as you age. You make such an effort to eat healthy, but you ignore gravity. What happens, over time, is your bodies natural center of gravity will shift forward. This then puts strain on your hips, legs, feet....Next thing you know, you have hip problems. Then its surgery. Then its a walker. I watch my patients and I wonder why a 90 year old can be so "young" and a 60 year old can be so "old". I look for patterns. Mostly just out of curiosity. Time after time the one variable that I notice is posture. I myself need to lose 30 pounds of belly fat and I find my posture is starting to drag forward, so im constantly straightening my back out now. Being tall doesnt help because EVERYTHING is made for short people. Desks are too low, chairs, toilets, counters. I have to lean down because society is short. So I have to constantly make an effort to sit/stand up straight and stretch my rib cage out/forwards.

    lol nice stink pot power boat. How much did that cost in fuel I wonder. You know why there are not more power boat videos? Cause it takes no skill and is incredibly lazy. Guess this is your way of paying for the fuel lol, good luck with that.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Wow, sorry you feel that way. Its a good question though. Fuel is not that expensive, relatively, it is actually the least expensive thing we pay for living this lifestyle. You can see what we spent on a trip from Canada to the Bahamas in this video, th-cam.com/video/QpNBt0L9ww0/w-d-xo.html
      So tell us what your story is? I mean to have the gaul to call someone lazy without even knowing them is incredibly naive. How much of your things and homes did you sell and unload, some of it to charity, to free yourself up to do your travels? How much of your own maintenance do you do to keep things running? How much work do you do to be able to support such a lifestyle? How much uncertainty did you face? How much sacrifice did you make? How many challenges did you face? How many hours of video editing do you do just to be able to tell your story to help inspire people to get on the water? You think you are something because you can raise a sail and use PredictWind? Seriously, what is your story, and why do you think the way you do? We've been doing this for 3 years now, and I have to say I have not met one sailor with a superiority complex as you do.

      The good news is anyone with half a brain will realize what a tool you are for criticizing power boaters. I’ve NEVER seen a sailboat over 25 feet that didn’t have some type of mechanical propulsion. Go blow some of your hot air into your sails and move on...

    • @dave9072000
      @dave9072000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will bet this guy has not spent significant time on the water. I've never met a serious cruiser or sailor who spent extended time at sea who wasn't friendly and helpful. I suspect its because all sea goers know that no matter how prepared you are, or how good your equipment, someday you may need help from another cruiser. Keep up the good work and good attitudes guys!
