    I just discovered this channel this afternoon. A trans-Atlantic crossing is on my bucket list, preferably a westbound crossing so I can enter New York harbor and see the Statue of Liberty the immigrants such as my grandparents did. I do wish that there were more solo cabins available on Cunard liners. I have never married and at my age, 65, I don't really want a roommate (and that includes my brother).

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Stephen, a westbound crossing is very social indeed, as you arrive in New York. And in that direction you 'gain' 1 hour each day, helping with jetlag. Squeezing 13 hours out of each day is very pleasing!

      This is one of the best review cruise channels. I only discovered it a few days ago. I wonder if Ritzy Travel Guide has sorted the tags correctly. I had to browse way down my feed and discovered this awesome channel. I'm planning my first ever cruise now but just can't decide where to go and which cruise line to go on so I'm frantically searching for cruise reviews online.

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Xavier7799 Hi, it would be great to be nearer the top of the feed! I shall have to spend some time sleuthing, and investigating why the reviews are not featuring more prominently!
      Thanks so much for your kind words, it's always lovely to read

    My wife and I have been on “QE” several times. We love the Cunard ships and their ambiance. Your video clearly and honestly defines the beauty and charm of this ship. Your narration is poetic, bringing out the romantic aspect of the classic style cruising afforded by the “Queens”. Thanks for this wonderfully edited video.

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, that's so kind of you to say, thank you very much for your aprreciative words. The ambiance of Cunard ships is indeed memorable. I always try to be as honest and balanced as possible with my video reviews, and sometimes there isn't anything particularly negative to say, as with this video aboard the QE! Cunard have simply got the vast majority of the experience right!
      Next video coming soon, a 7 day diary of activities aboard.
      Thanks so much for watching our channel

    Thank you for featuring our favourite ship. As "more mature" cruisers, we only sail with Cunard. We don't cruise as often as we would like so it has to be perfect. We did a Mediterranean cruise back in 2017 and it was so different to cruising here in Australia. As you probably know, Australians are more casual but most of us follow the dress codes. We never get to dress up when not cruising so it's a treat. Looking forward to your next video.

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Joan. There were several Australians aboard this cruise, and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves. It's a long way to come, but they all said they were so glad they did

    Love your presentation style and humorous interjections! I'm the viewer who asked for your luxury ship recommendations. The QE & The QM2 will fit the bill perfectly; I am the cruiser those ships are meant for. Looking forward to your forthcoming videos! 😊

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi again, it definitely sounds like you're the person Cunard is meant for 😊 There are so many passengers that love the character and feel, and come back time and again. Cunard has one of the highest repeat booking numbers in the industry.
      I'm sure you'll be on your first Cunard voyage soon!

  • @watcher321

    OK, I'm a snob. I admit it, no problem there. I just do not like the rude, drinking, loud, high-fiving crowd. If you can't afford a tuxedo don't travel Queens Grill. If you have a problem, complain silently. That being said I cruise on Cunard. I don't want to cruise on Coney Island. If I want casual I go to the buffet, I don't show up in the Queens Grill in a t-shirt. I simply know better, and you don't. Thank you, Cunard, for reminding me about the Gilded Age.

    I thought I recognized you at the afternoon tea, and indeed our family is showing at 6:18 in the background! I should have come to say an appreciative word about your channel. A wonderful cruise, though unfortunately Ajaccio was skipped. We also thought the buffet was a bit bland. Should have tried the dinner at the Golden Lion. There are just so many options to do during the cruise. I think we had time to try only about a half of what the ship has to offer.

    We just completed the recent Ft. Lauderdale - Barcelona transatlantic crossing on the Queen Elizabeth and really enjoyed ourselves. The crew is fantastic, the food surprisingly good, and the southern crossing (as opposed to the QM2's more northerly NYC - Southampton route) gave us 13 days of bright sunshine and endless blue skies while enjoying ourselves at poolside. My one wish is that our transit through the Strait of Gibraltar occurred during daylight (but then I knew that it would be a night event when I booked our trip). Anyway, it is a beautiful ship and I highly recommend it. I am new to your channel and have enjoyed your videos. Good work!

      That’s what I thought too, we sailed the QE from Vancouver to NYC a few years ago, it was wonderful especially all the port stops and Panama Canal. We just did 7 days on the Oasis with the whole family and to my surprise we had a blast, it’s so big it never felt crowded at all, I couldn’t believe it, we had a great time. We are looking forward to a trans Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2, a real Ocean Liner crossing is on the bucket list for sure. All these ships have their good points, there will always be some minor issues but no big deal. Looking forward to High Tea again its great we didn’t miss any of those 😁

    Went on Q2 was delightful Ole world charm.. San Francisco to Akl in 2016.. until the ship got stuck going into Tonga. I woke at 6.55am went onto balcony and could swear I saw the bottom of the ocean and sand upon sand. Th captain reversed out of there quick smart. Got an extra day night in Auckland! At greet the captain he was asked about awful experiences and worse day of his life.. he said yesterday trying to get into Tonga! The staff are exceptional. The wooden decks are true luxury. A charmer. I want to book on Queen Anne!!

    My kind of ship. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It's a wonderful evocation of a bygone era and it looks like Cunard paid strict attention to presentation. I love the lounges. I now remember ice carvings and fruit carvings on ships. Elegant, timeless experience. If executed, yes. And it still seems quite British in good ways.
    I have to say Celebrity at one time had such presentation but I'm not finding it now. It's almost pretend premium at this point and at times pretentious. HAL maybe keeps some of this elegance and Princess to a degree. I hope the Queen Anne maintains this elegance.

    We are on Queen Elizabeth in January for 10 days to Queensland have been on QE before so looking forward to the break. You probably have heard already that Cunard have decided that Australians don't fit their culture we have hot summers and most Aiussies want a casual experience we have cruised for years and like the tradition. We board Royal Princess on Wednesday for short sailing down to Hobart.

    Question: I’m a 69 year old widow. Would I enjoy this cruise traveling alone?? Would I be able to enjoy the gala’s without someone to dance with?
    I love the elegance and ambiance. I want to go on this ship very badly but am afraid that traveling alone may exclude me from experiencing the elegance of the evening events and leave me disappointed. Your honest thoughts are appreciated as this would be an expensive cruise traveling solo.

    • @ritzytravelguide
      @ritzytravelguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rose, lovely to hear from you. Let me assure you that you will have an amazing time, as a solo traveller. There are indeed many solo passengers on Cunard, and to help solos, Cunard have on hand what are known as 'dance hosts' on each of their ships. These hosts accompany solo passengers on the dance floor. They do a great job. From my video some of the people you see on there are singles on the floor, who are dancing with these Cunard hosts!
      Added to this there are many organised events every day around the Ship for solo passengers, meetups, quizzes etc.
      Please don't hesitate to book. The ships are lovely, the atmosphere is beautiful, and you will be able to socialise and dance the night away!

Taking a break this year, unfortunately I have noticed a fall in standards and passenger behaviours in recent cruises, sadly on many of the lines we had given our loyalty to over the years, we have always tried out their new ships a few months after they entered service and up until this year all has been well. Blessed with being able to afford the best cabins and itineraries our cruises used to feel such a treat, but that seems to be disappearing as the younger crowd are being aggressively sought after by the companies and their traditional cruise demographic and loyal passengers are being ignored, poor behaviours accepted and general ambience reduced. Apologies this sounds a rather depressing post maybe I’ve been spoiled with my great cruise experiences in the past and here’s hoping Cunard or one of the smaller lines will restore that for me 🤞🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

    Thank you for sharing. We are first time cruisers but enjoy the 'nicer things in life' so we have booked Queen Anne. I was blessed to travel on the Queen Elizabeth relocation cruise from Spain to Australia last year, and even more blessed to stay in a Princess Grill suite. Your video reminded me of all the wonderful experiences I had on her during our 5 weeks of travel. I only wish I'd had a dance partner for all the dance classes and evenings - my 82 year old dad just wasn't up to it.
    Having just come off a 2 week cruise on the Celebrity Edge (and its amazing cruise director Guiseppe), I'm reminded of just how an activite and involved and energetic cruise director adds to the experience. (not a Sally fan at all)

    [23:27] about the Lido buffet being "dull" - I think a lot of people want the comforting basics like they have at home (in England & US) and would complain if not available. I found adequate variety - with all melons covered, different cheeses, etc.
    [25:18] I think the portions are adequate, and actually larger than what is offered in many Michelin starred restaurants. A lot of people order several dishes.

    Great video. Your use of photos, graphics, music, narrative, and your charming style are very entertaining. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. We just returned from a Queen Elizabeth transatlantic cruise.
    What we liked- magnificent, elegant ship, great afternoon tea, the lion pub (great burgers). The entertainment was good. Gala and theme nights were especially fun. Really enjoyed watching the posh dancers (passengers).
    What we didn’t like - food in the MDR and Lido (you are spot on) are uninspired, quite mediocre with very limited selection. Service (compared to the normally excellent service on other lines, such as HAL, RCL, NCL) was disappointing. Food servers seemed rushed, distracted, and disinterested.
    Speakers/enrichment were boring (They definitely need better speakers with more interesting subjects.)
    Most disappointing is that they do not bundle perks, such as beverages, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, shore, excursions, etc. like other cruise lines do. Purchasing those things à la cart, makes Cunard a poor value. Would likely not choose Cunard again.
    Thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work!

    Seeing the ballroom and people, not much older than me, ballroom dancing, just makes me feel like I had turned into my parents.
    I also cant be doing with the dressing up. As a fella, dressing up is a chore, one I can do without on holiday. WIfe likes to stick on a dress or whatever, but wearing a suit and tie, or worse, a bow tie, well, I just wouldnt be comfortable, and would ruin my idea of fun.
