It is a great cabin. We cruised on a sister ship and had an infinite veranda. Unfortunately, the window was locked more often than it was unlocked. We usually could not open it when we wanted it open. We hate the infinite verandah and will avoid such cabins in the future. Those few extra square feet of room space are not worth it! Give us a traditional verandah any day.
IV was perfect for our Alaska cruise 2 weeks ago. The large window with the bed right up close to it really maximizes the mountain, whales and glacier views from the bed. We were in temperatures from 2C-15C on the trip and could keep the window open all night for the best sleep ever. I would get a normal balcony in warmer places, or just an ocean view room. another great video!
Hi yes, the Infinite Veranda is ideal for those mild weather cruises. Agreed about getting the configuration with the bed by the window. Ours was too. But some IV layouts have the sofa by the window instead, and the bed way back in the centre of the cabin. So important to book the IV configuration you'd prefer.
If someone from a cruise company film free said I was on their shot, I'd have said they were in the way of the vacation I paid for.... Especially knowing they were filming a campaign that prominently features an actor portraying a passenger eating french fries.
I was told that I needed to move from one of the pool bars while I was having a drink and lunch so that they could film a promo on Princess a few years back. I declined their kind offer. The head guy from the film crew came up and apologized for the brusque treatment. I finished my drink and lunch, and then I moved. No apologies from the guy who told me to move. I did inquire about the film crew’s schedule, so as to not be a bother to them in their subsequent shoots. They actually did give me their schedule.
Just adding my own experience, I booked such cabin on the MSC World Europa and I loved it. Being a family of 4, the additional inside space is such a big plus. As we were cruising here in the Mediterranean, we could leave the window open at night and the sound of the ocean is priceless. Cabin-wise the whole family agrees it was the nicest experience we had so far (but from your video and the comments I read, the outside temperature could completely change the experience, I wasn't thinking about that).
Hi there. Yes, the cabin itself is beautiful. Spacious and well equipped. The problem comes if you are sailing a hot and humid itinerary. The window then can become a real issue!
We sailed on the Beyond in Jan/23 and the infinite veranda was my most favourite part of the room. I love to read at night and with the door closed I didn't disturb my husband who likes to go to sleep early.
I made it to minute 8:33 and was convinced. I won’t be booking this room ever. Before this video I was thinking this seems great…more space in the room and a balcony when you want one. Nope nope nope.
Thank you for this video. I have sailed in these cabins, and I'm on the fence. Pro. You have more usable space in your cabin. Pro. It is really private. Con. You can't fall asleep in the chaise lounge while gazing at the stars. Con. You don't have a 180" view as you would from a traditional balcony. Conclusion. The infinite veranda would not prevent me from sailing on a given itinerary, but I will always prefer a traditional balcony.
Another awesome video! I thought it was a lovely cabin! Beautiful carpet, bedding, art and conveniences. And besides if it’s that hot, would you even be on the balcony? I wouldn’t.

Hi Fraser. I HOPE they don't fully replace balconies, as it's great to have the choice and variety! The cabin itself though is really nice, well laid out and spacious.
We leave in a month on our first Edge class, Celebrity ship. We have an infinite veranda room. We are nervous about it. We are normally balcony people. We love Celebrity and are hoping for the best! Thanks for the review!
Hi there, please don't be nervous, the Edge Class of ships are superb, well designed, with fantastic facilities! Concerning the Infinity Veranda....the cabin itself is very spacious, excellent bathroom, and well laid out. It's all about that window! You may come away loving it. Some do. It's difficult to predict which camp you'll fall into. Please do let us know after your cruise what you thought!
Just seen your video, and I agree with one of the other viewers, you are on holiday and you paid for it, so you have the right to access all areas within your package, if anything they should have filmed this when less passengers around like a port day or still the cruise company make reasonable allowances for passengers who cant access that area. The cheek of these film companies thinking they own the area. Sorry Bill but why should yours or anyone else's holiday be interrupted for people who are paid to be there. 😊 Ps once again great content and loving every video you put out👌
Hi there Graham, I must admit on one occasion I did have a 'cross word with them'. 😬 The first morning it was relatively interesting to watch the film crew... but by day 4 this was wearing quite thin! I'm wondering how diplomatic my video will be, when I put it out!
Well we loved the infinite Veranda and after being on 30 plus cruises , we think it’s a great design so much so that after sailing on the Apex we booked the Beyond and the Ascent . I might add that the Celebrity Edge ships that have the Infinite Veranda are booking up six months out , so clearly some people like them .
We had an infinite veranda on the first Transatlantic on the Ascent. Loved it! More overall room. But if it was the Caribbean, I might feel differently.
Excellent info as always. Thanks. I’m going to book one of these cabins on Ascent in the solo version on deck 6. A January cruise to Caribbean so hope I can enjoy an open window at times. They price at just a few dollars more than an inside cabin so why not?
@@ritzytravelguide In fact, Ascent interior cabin is now selling at US$600 MORE than a verandah for an 11 night Caribbean cruise with drinks/wifi package. That seems backwards, but you won’t hear me complain. Verandah booked!
Another masterpiece thank you. We’re not fans of the IV and have booked a porthole veranda on Apex from Southampton in a few weeks. Love your positivity though. Off to watch your ship tour now.
We. Had a cabin on the edge when she was new, loved the ship, Blue restaurant, fresh fruit/ice in room every day, I liked the infinite veranda my wife did not. Lack of ac was never explained. Members of captains club Elite level but tired of Caribbean ports, Trying American Cruise line river cruise for a change. Loved the River cruises out of Amsterdam.
We just went on the Celebrity Ascent for the 2024 transatlantic cruise to Barcelona. We had a starboard side infinite veranda room and absolutely loved it. It was the perfect room for us. Now keep in mind this was a mid April sailing where humidity wasn’t bad and we were moving at a good speed. If it was the Caribbean during the summer and you are sailing along at a slow speed, I can only imagine how “hot” it would get. Overall, we had zero complaints. Well, maybe one. It is quite easy to see through the windows. So be careful how you are dressed.
You're right, it is quite easy to be seen inside! Thanks so much for your comments. We too enjoyed this cabin, out of season, when the weather was pleasant, and relatively cool.
Avoid booking infinite veranda cabin on starboard side fore or aft a deck or two under the Magic Carpet. Folks on Carpet may be able to see into your window. We had that issue on the Ascent despite being 8 cabins in front but otherwise loved the floor to ceiling windows and sitting area. We rarely put the window down due to wind.
I guess it makes sense when travelling to colder climates such as Norway, Iceland and Alaska when you probably wouldnt want to be out on a traditional balcony as much.
Hi Richard, I think you are absolutely right, the Infinite Veranda is very much suited to some regions and seasons, and not others. My wife liked the cabin, but 100% wouldn't book it on a hot itinerary.
We booked a Aqua Sky Suite that has a traditional balcony for our March 2026 cruise for 11 nights to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean. We definitely wanted the suite with a balcony when traveling to the Caribbean. We have never had the opportunity to stay In the Infinite veranda but we would try it out but only on a cruise where the heat index is not 85 to 100 degrees.
I believe the door opens outwards because that cabin is sat back in a recess, slightly further back than the main corridor, so if the door opens outwards, it doesn't restrict access to people walking down the corridor which would breach a fire regulation. So if sat back in a recess, they probably decided to make it open outwards into the corridor as it makes the room feel less impeded.
No expert here, but similar to pool fencing in Australia the gate to access pool always opens out to make it more difficult for children to get into the pool area. I would imagine for a ship cabin door the door should open outwards in the event the cabin takes on water. You will not get that door open to escape if you are trying to open against water
Just had one of those type of rooms on Atlas Ocean Voyages. It gave us a larger living room and desk area compared to the Balcony Rooms. Both were 270 sq ft.
@@ritzytravelguide Loved it and was on the end of April beginning of May. We booked it again for this Coming October. Swanky upscale beautiful ships. Staterooms are gorgeous and the Shower is the best I have had at sea.

Respectfully disagree with your conclusion. We would never book an oversized ocean view cabin just to "stick your head out the window like a dog." Infinite Veranda, a grotesque misnomer, was the brain child of French ship builders attempting to 1) simplify construction to lower costs, and 2) improve aerodynamics to reduce fuel consumption for the line -- THE single largest expense of operations. We are booked on Ascent December 2024 in a Sunset Veranda intentionally avoiding the Infinite mutation. Keep up the good work, Bill!
I’ve not been on that celebrity cabin type, but I wouldn’t either. That’s a huge design blunder in my opinion. one of the things I’ve also noticed in celebrity cabins is the really cut the rooms narrow to the point where this between 12 and 18 inches between the foot of the bed and the wall. No thank you celebrity, been on them three times on the older ships which are much nicer. In their shot, huh?? You are a paying passenger, enjoy your cruise. Great video thank you.
We've booked one of the Port hole balcony's on Apex this summer - we are just not that taken with the infinite balcony idea. Perhaps when we do Northern Europe we will give it a try.
If those folding panels could somehow properly seal off the rest of the cabin from the outside so the AC stayed then you could have the best of both worlds. Hopefully they can come up with something like that in the future.
Not a fan of the infinite veranda so booked a portside forward porthole balcony. The balcony was narrow but adequate but the room itself was actually more roomy than its infinite neighbours.
We had a balcony on our latest cruise and we didnt sit out there a great deal. I think the extra room and opening window would probably be better for us seeing as we're a family of four
Too bad they didn't allow the AC to work when those bifold doors were closed. Otherwise I think the cabin is great, and really like the extra room you have when the window is closed. One other improvement might be to have the blind go up and down from the floor rather than the ceiling. Then you could still have some privacy plus light and view at the same time.
Hi, you're absolutely right, they should permit the Aircon to stay on when the bifold tatami style blinds are closed. They need to think this through. The Aircon issue is a shame, because the cabin itself is fantastic
The recent announcement from Celebrity that they will be moving away from these types of balconies is telling. The announcement lacked details, what does that mean for the next Edge class, Xcel. Only time will tell, and the next newer class of ships for Celebrity in a decade.
Hi, yes their recent announcement is very telling. They didn't confirm total cancellation of the Infinite Veranda, but merely agreed it is unbelievably polarising. They may well adjust the ratio of Infinite to regular Sunset Balconies. I think they may switch to a 50/50 mix, or even a majority of regular balconies
I didn’t like the charging box….i had a charger that almost didn’t fit inside…. But overall….it was nice……I wouldn’t mind the infinite window…….i think it would be ok! But it is nice to have a balcony sometimes
What I don't like about the infinite veranda is you can't sit and look out at the sea without the division between the windows blocking your view, which is why I would cruise.
Sorry but the "infinite veranda" is the single biggest design mistake I've seen in the cruise industry EVER! Nobody wants these cabins! A lot of ships sale Caribbean itineraries in the summer the temp is easily in the tripped (f) digits. Open the windows and you're room will probably start sprouting thunder storms over the bed from the rapid change in temperature. No, these are absolutely horrible.
I have heard they can break down and not open properly. What would you do if it got stuck open? Wait for a maintenance guy to say the motor is shot, too bad, we cannot move you to another cabin?
We did an infinity balcony on the Celebrity Edge in the Greek isles and we definitely did not like it. We will only book regular balconies going forward.

Try a deluxe Oceanview on Sky Princess. They are above the bridge ....if you want the experience of a NASA Astronaut in one of those zero gravity flights then try it in a moderate swell or above. Worst decision we ever made. Avoid!
Yes, but on a normal balcony you can go outside, close the doors behind you, sit out there and the AC stays on inside. You can't do this with an Infinite Veranda
If all suites on cruise ships including the larger suites are like this , no proper outside area then after 100 cruises it gives me another reason to finally give cruising a miss .Anything good gets the chop .I guess this must save money for the production costs. One prefabricated unit no veranda devision .
The cabin door opening outwards means more space inside the cabin (a less wasted s pace behind the door). This is good. As for the veranda, if it means the "outside" seating area isn't coated in salt, then this is also good. Intelligent video. Thanks.
There you are. Think you are a great ship designer, discuss this cabin with your whole team and the company and then Bill has to come around AFTER it's installed to tell you in 5 minutes how much disadvantages it has. Didn't they had a Bill in their Team? It's crazy. I think many people will avoid these ships. If I want a balcony I want a balcony and not a window. 🤷♂️
It seems fine, but the main problem is that it is deceiving calling it a "verandah", it is not a balcony, so don't call it a verandah and problem solved.
Didn’t think this was for us and now I certainly know it’s not for us , we love sitting on the balcony late afternoon early evening while getting ready for dinner . For me lack of air con when the window is closed when drying my hair after a shower would be a nightmare , it would turn to frizz . Ok know that’s vane but a problem for me . I would rather not go to dinner looking like “ the wild women of Borneo “ that’s a British saying sorry .
@@ritzytravelguide I don’t like the idea that you lose all the cool air in the cabin when you want the outside air. Then it takes forever to cool the room back down! I like to sneak outside in the middle of the night and just sit and watch the stars!

I was on the same sailing as you. I remember them doing those photo shoots! Aside from that, I completely agree. The IV is really only good when you’re in cooler climates. Not a good idea to make a ship with staterooms that are only fully usable in certain weather conditions. It’s an amazing ocean view cabin otherwise! I do love the ascent nonetheless. A simply beautiful ship. The sink however is very poorly designed in the cabin. Why is the faucet so close to the edge of the massive sink? The water splashes all outside the sink because of this poor design.
This is the main reason why I refuse to cruise on Celebrity with an infinite veranda. I would only consider if it was an Alaskan or Norwegian cruise where the weather would tolerate no AC.

Yup, it is an issue in the summer
I have heard they can break down and not open properly. What would you do if it got stuck open? Wait for a maintenance guy to say the motor is shot, too bad, we cannot move you to another cabin?
That's an interesting point, if the electric windows fail, when fully down, and a storm whips up!
I like them😊
I like them too.
We did an infinity balcony on the Celebrity Edge in the Greek isles and we definitely did not like it. We will only book regular balconies going forward.
I think several people share that view!
Totally agree we went on the maiden voyage of the Century and others when the line belonged to Chandris .It was fairly luxurious then.
Having been in an Infinite veranda cabin on the Apex these cabins work better on a cold weather cruise.
Yes, totally agree!
Try a deluxe Oceanview on Sky Princess. They are above the bridge ....if you want the experience of a NASA Astronaut in one of those zero gravity flights then try it in a moderate swell or above. Worst decision we ever made. Avoid!
I love your description 😬
I would try one ❤
I'll put you in the plus column!
Does the AC automatically turn off if the doors are opened on a normal balcony cabin?
Yes, but on a normal balcony you can go outside, close the doors behind you, sit out there and the AC stays on inside. You can't do this with an Infinite Veranda
@@ritzytravelguide Okay, but that could be rectified with the right door.
There's no balcony doors on the Infinite Veranda!
@@ritzytravelguide There's a veranda door partition that can be closed that could be changed to a better door!
Got you, yes it definitely could!
Thanks.
Hi there. Thanks for your comments and thoughts!
What about bugs?
Good point!
better than the old round circle ocean views so...if they keep all equal i can deal. imsure there is a switch ypu can jam to keep the ac on lol....
I kept looking for that switch to 'jam' the air con on, but never found it!
The infinite veranda in my opinion was a very bad idea. Would prefer an outside balcony
Yes, I think they would be better off giving it a different name!
It is certainly a big downside!
I'm not into balconies. The neighbors can peek over from either above or beside you. I like ocean view or inside.
The Infinite Veranda might suit you!
@@ritzytravelguide Exactly!😁
temperature inside above 40C? (according teh movie) Nonsens!!
As recorded. No falsification
I really hate the infinite veranda. I refuse to book one.
Because it doesn't feel like a 'true' balcony?
@@ritzytravelguide I don’t like the idea that you lose all the cool air in the cabin when you want the outside air. Then it takes forever to cool the room back down! I like to sneak outside in the middle of the night and just sit and watch the stars!
@Angiehere-1 Me too! And that's one of the real downsides of this Cabin!
The cabin is nice. The veranda was meh.

Hi Corey! It is a beautiful ship, totally agree!
Wonder what prompted them to make such a terrible change.
This is the main reason why I refuse to cruise on Celebrity with an infinite veranda. I would only consider if it was an Alaskan or Norwegian cruise where the weather would tolerate no AC.
Agreed
Looks great, what are you completing about? First world problems 😮
Not complaining, we liked the cabin!!
