It's like when Cleetus McFarland and gang bought up all the Ford Rangers for their race. The prices were outrageous all over the country, It's crazy that TH-cam can fluctuate car prices.
I sold mine last year for a whopping 2k running with only minor electrical work to work out. I thought sand rails were done with the new fancy sidebysides.
These are some of my favorite videos you produce. When you're showing your family, Hunter or Sean. I imagine this is what your father did for you. Showed you how to do stuff but also let you experience it as well. Watching Hunter and Landon taking it for a test rip at the end brought a smile to my face, as it appeared to do them too.
Oh man, what memories you two just brought back! Tooling around in an old bug with a couple of friends and the accelerator cable broke. We all gave up our shoe laces, tied them together, ran them out the window to the carb and that’s how we got home!
Sure is nice to open up TH-cam and 3 of my favorite people are making things happen. Nothing but smiles and laughter, but it will be ok, trust me, says Paul.
I do have to say, Sean's buggy has a super sleek design, I love it!! Reminds me of those crazy pro rock crawlers. I can't wait to see all of you out on the dunes getting sand blasted :)
I tell you what, if I weren’t already happily married, I would be courting grandma Lolly. She is the best!! Thank you grandma for raising such an awesome family. I respect you very much. God Bless.
OMG! LOL! To see Paul work the throttle with wire while Hunter drives has to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen. It’s what my husband would do, I just know it! BTY, I really like the “Built not Bought” shirts you guys are sporting. Keep up the great videos, they always bring a smile to my face.
You’re all scrambling to get those buggies going which is pretty cool. All those that have owned an air cooled ride would recommend adding a fire extinguisher on the cage. Nothing worse than being on the dunes on fire and no water in sight. 😊❤
Fab Rats is positively my favorite TH-cam channel! The way y’all work together is exactly what I need to see. I appreciate all the love you bring to your employees, community, and all of us that watch from afar. May God continue to bless you!
Watching All you guys, Merlin, jet ski Jimmy and all the buggies at Matt's makes me want to find one. I Have not been dune bugging since I was a teenager and here I am turning 61. Hope you all have a very good time and make some great memories. Please post some videos.
Hunters spine is gonna get compressed in no time with the way that harness is set up. The rear connecting points should be shoulder height and no lower. Apart from that it’s a cool machine 👌🏻
One night while out in my older brother’s VW Beetle back in the 70s, the throttle cable broke about two miles from home. While squatting on the back bumper & holding on for dear life I ran the gas while my brother drove! We nearly popped a wheelie shifting from 1st to 2nd! Made it home though!
I love the relationship Paul has with Hunter. Initially, when Paul's brother was in the picture Hunter was teased lots. (All in good fun) Now Hunter is learning lots and Paul is a great teacher. I enjoyed Paul's brother and his humor just want to make that point very clear.
Things to do in Glamis drag race on gecko Road go and find the flagpole drop box go to Oldsmobile, Comp Hill, ride the big bowls up top. and then go to China wall. I wish I was going to.
Paul Merlin's birthday bash will be great and I think you all will have a great time railing. Hunter since it's your rail I am proud that you are helping out. Hunter, it will be ok great idea. Paul, you all are doing work on the rails.
Oh man this makes me really miss my 67 baja bug.... It had fiberglass hood, fenders, and a cool fiberglass engine surround.... It also had a 4" body lift, a roll cage and chevy van seats... It also had a 72 1600 engine with a two barrel carb, that thig was quick. Real fun and very reliable.
Because he's the younger Paul back in the day. When I grew up, a few decades ago, if the older folks weren't flipping you some guff then you were in trouble. Getting guff meant that they really liked you.
I absolutely love seeing Hunter and Landon with those big smiles and saying how much they love it over and over. I just bought my first buggy and can't wait for the weather to get warm so I can take a few trips. Mine has the ecotec motor with a built weddle Trans and 930 axles, it's built right. Im from KY which is where my buggy is at right now but I live and work in Ohio so just waiting for some nice weather to be able to drive it home!! I'll probably drive it around in KY for the weekend with my Uncle who has a sweet new build with turbo mustang motor on his!!!
The smiles on all three of their faces at 13:04 made me literally bust up. Three guys being guys. Landon definitely has the skills to get a scholarship to a D2 school. Plenty of schools will pay for his education to have him play for them.
You should catch one of the frames of the video, where the kids are driving the buggy and the moon is in the frame, just to the right. It’s around 28:45 to 28:55.
You guys should get a sponsorship for Beaver Nuggets 😊 🇺🇲 We never heard of the b4 we started watching your channel. You have a great channel. Love all the cutting up having fun. Wishing you all the best.
From this side of the screen, it looks like you could do a mid-engine mod on that frame. I sure would like to see how that's done! Hunter, show us that video some day.
A note to Fab Rats on the Glamis trip: The Ca State Park requires a pass to operate out there. Also, whips are required on ALL vehicles! There is a heavy law enforcement so be aware.
Lol we had a racing class out at our local track that you had to relocate the gas pedal to the passenger side and the drive had the wheel and brake. Tons of fun, it was called the cruiser class.
Sean's buggy sure does have a ass like an old Jag vibe going on. These buggy's sure are a lot of fun! Looking forward to seeing the painting party video! Thanks for all this great content. Keep up the great work.
Paul , That reversed groove on the Crank Pulley is called a WindBack Seal.😊 In is backwards of engine rotation to push oil away from the Lip seal. Alot of large 8,10,12,13.speed heavy truck transmissions use them on the outter trans cases. Just an. FYI. Love the fleet of Buggies!!😂
What a conglomeration of buggy builds...Hunter is having the time of his life, awesome. Shawn's buggy is gonna be hot Looking forward to the Glamis trip.
Always thought a sandrail would be fun.... now it is confirmed. Can't wait to see them all painted and ready!!! Michelle's is going to be shiny gold... right?😊
I'm in Canada I don't need a sand rail, but I want one 😅 can't use it, except maybe on the ice in the winter. But they look fun enough 🙌 thanks for sharing boys
Every boy should own a vw, adjusting valves and carbs 😊for different weather. Not your average daily driver but sure make a great weekend toy. Keep up the good work.
HOW you guys get away with that stuff on a public highway cracks me up! When I was their age, I did the same thing until a CHP turned around with lights & sirens. Good thing there was a creek-bed nearby & we were gone in 60 seconds lol.
Hunters excitement reminds me of rebuilding a 67 Kaiser Jeep and driving it windshield down for the first time when I was about his age. These will be fun memories Hunter.
Always love the buggies, I wouldn't be able to tell how many I built over the years. Just a heads up, if you flip on the roof in the sand, it can snap your neck. We always made it a point to put on a roof of some sort, usually aluminum. To much fun. Thanks for sharing.
And headrests for driver and passenger. Full face helmets with goggles and HANS device. You’ll be happy you invested in the gear if you roll it a few times
I am looking forward to seeing the video or videos from the weekend event where you guys are driving your biggies I will be surprised to see how many are running at the end of the weekend
We need to see Grandma Lolly giving a Sandrail a test drive!!
I second that !
She needs her own, if Hunter finds this one too much for him Grama can probably handle it.
@@iffykidmn8170 Seeing as Grandma Lolly gave Hunter a vote of no confidence, I'd say yeah, she'll rip it!
Gramma Lolly always talks the talk, I want to see her drive one 🤣
She might break her coccyx.
You are helping to bring back Sand Rails, now everyone will Need one.
Prices will increase!
It's like when Cleetus McFarland and gang bought up all the Ford Rangers for their race. The prices were outrageous all over the country, It's crazy that TH-cam can fluctuate car prices.
Hunters paddles are backwards
Still the best inexpensive fun anyone can have, simple fun😊
I sold mine last year for a whopping 2k running with only minor electrical work to work out. I thought sand rails were done with the new fancy sidebysides.
These are some of my favorite videos you produce. When you're showing your family, Hunter or Sean. I imagine this is what your father did for you. Showed you how to do stuff but also let you experience it as well.
Watching Hunter and Landon taking it for a test rip at the end brought a smile to my face, as it appeared to do them too.
That was fun seeing Hunter so happy and excited. He’s such a good kid. He deserves it.
What I like about you guys , you always appear to have fun with your show, your boys are really lucky to have a DAD like you.
Hunter, Michelle & Gma say Thanks
Yeah, it’ll be ‘fine’ 🤣❤️🇷🇴
Paul’s confidence is awesome!
@@ryandoyle4344 and Shawn!
I do have to say, Sean's buggy has a super sleek design, I love it!! Reminds me of those crazy pro rock crawlers. I can't wait to see all of you out on the dunes getting sand blasted :)
HUnter, you're the man. The look of sheer terror when you saw you were doing 64 MPH was priceless.
Hunter's smile is priceless!
Hunter himself is priceless
Always giving the thumbs up. I think I need to comment more. You guys have been hitting grand slams all the time. Thanks for the quality effort.
Thank you! Means a lot!
You’re all scrambling to get those buggies going which is pretty cool. All those that have owned an air cooled ride would recommend adding a fire extinguisher on the cage. Nothing worse than being on the dunes on fire and no water in sight. 😊❤

Paul. You are a lovely man. That lad looks up to you so highly. So much trust. Really lovely to watch. Wish I could come see you all.
Those sand rails are a hoot! The look on Hunter and Lands face says it all!
Nice to see the young lads having a blast, grinning ear to ear. It's funny to see Hunter's hair sticking up as well.
Where is the Granny cart for Thelma & Louise to go & have fun with y'all ? Ty for taking us along
Watching All you guys, Merlin, jet ski Jimmy and all the buggies at Matt's makes me want to find one. I Have not been dune bugging since I was a teenager and here I am turning 61. Hope you all have a very good time and make some great memories. Please post some videos.
That's a good time when a buggy ride gives you that "Clint Eastwood squint".😄
You should get some tractor flaps for the exhaust
Good to see you young guys keep these old school buggy's alive
Man this series of videos remind me of growing up and piecing cars together.
I’m glad Merlin hooked Sean up with that bigger motor! I hope it lives for a long time and runs as good as it sounds!
Now that's what kids are supposed to be doing. Having fun, and pushing the limits.
It’s really funny how sandrails have started showing up in large numbers on marketplace lately
Hunters spine is gonna get compressed in no time with the way that harness is set up. The rear connecting points should be shoulder height and no lower. Apart from that it’s a cool machine 👌🏻
Over the last few years I've watched these young men go from snot nosed kids to building their own vehicles! Pretty darn cool 😁😁👍👍
I'm glad to see it's not just me... it's not what you gotta do but what you gotta do to do what you gotta do.

Paul Merlin's birthday bash will be great and I think you all will have a great time railing. Hunter since it's your rail I am proud that you are helping out. Hunter, it will be ok great idea. Paul, you all are doing work on the rails.
Gonna be a badass trip!!! Can't wait👍🏼

How can you not smile driving a rail?
Shame it needs to "grow up" ... I love the lines of Sean's buggy!!!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Good to see Hunter enjoying his sand rail! He's such a good guy. Don't know why everyone gives him such a hard time.
Shop whipping boy ...it's a time honored tradition !
Because he's the younger Paul back in the day.
When I grew up, a few decades ago, if the older folks weren't flipping you some guff then you were in trouble.
Getting guff meant that they really liked you.
One of the best videos to date! The smiles on the faces is awesome!!
I absolutely love seeing Hunter and Landon with those big smiles and saying how much they love it over and over. Shaun’s buggy is like the old Porsche 915 of the bunch.
The smiles on all three of their faces at 13:04 made me literally bust up. Three guys being guys. Landon definitely has the skills to get a scholarship to a D2 school. Plenty of schools will pay for his education to have him play for them.
You can't go wrong with Paul controlling tour throttle 😂😂
The sounds from this video remind me of watching Herbie when I was a kid.
Can't wait for the video when you all will drive them buggy's :)
I wish… Growing up I had a Family.
And had a Family like this.
God Bless You Folks Always.
You boys, know how to have fun!!!!!!!!
love hunter's faces when he is driving lol
You should catch one of the frames of the video, where the kids are driving the buggy and the moon is in the frame, just to the right. It’s around 28:45 to 28:55.
Love your channel Paul along with the FabRats crew 💛💛💛
I think it’s funny that the only time a word gets bleeped is when gramma Lolly is in the shop. 😂
My family and I can't wait to see you guys on the dunes here soon. 😊
LOL...
You steer and I will make it go...So sounds like a chapter out of my life...
Need to raid the junk pile and find some rear view mirrors. looks like lots of fun to be coming up
You guys should get a sponsorship for Beaver Nuggets 😊 🇺🇲
We never heard of the b4 we started watching your channel.
You have a great channel. Love all the cutting up having fun. Wishing you all the best.
The look of Paul and Hunter's eyeballs freezing in the wind was pretty epic! 🥶
Good time you guys made Hunters day
Those buggies are going to be so COOL!
This has been so fun to watch, can’t wait to see the finale
Love how there so chill and kickback❤❤❤
Throwing sparks all over Hunters new seats and Harnesses 🤣😂
The smiles of youth!! Those VW shifters are like stirring mud! Another great adventure on the way!
Just hearing her run makes me miss my VW's. So much fun can't wait to see you all having fun on them soon 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊❤❤❤
From this side of the screen, it looks like you could do a mid-engine mod on that frame. I sure would like to see how that's done! Hunter, show us that video some day.
This is a good laugh watching 4 wheelin jeep and chevy 4x4 truck guys working on v dub buggies. 😂😂😂👍✌️
Another great fab rats video. Thanks for sharing. I love how you always take care of your employees. You’re always doing cool things for them.
That looks like a hole lot of smiles per gallon fun!
Hunter's buggy makes me understand the term "drive by wire." Have fun boys.
A note to Fab Rats on the Glamis trip: The Ca State Park requires a pass to operate out there. Also, whips are required on ALL vehicles! There is a heavy law enforcement so be aware.
They are aware of the rules
Back in the 70's we used to call that hand hold in front of the passenger seat a "Chicken Bar"
Hunter is shooting flames out the back like Batman!
Waking up to a new Fab Rats video is like waking up on Christmas morning, two times a week! Always a treat!
Loving the old school buggies content
Lol we had a racing class out at our local track that you had to relocate the gas pedal to the passenger side and the drive had the wheel and brake. Tons of fun, it was called the cruiser class.

I knew it. I said string but wire will work . Miles on my old mini bike with one hand pulling a string , 50 years ago
What a conglomeration of buggy builds...Hunter is having the time of his life, awesome.

Looking forward to the Glamis trip.
So cool !!..... Hunters face while Paul was "workin the wire" was like a kid in the candy store.....thanks for sharing this with us
Always thought a sandrail would be fun.... now it is confirmed. Can't wait to see them all painted and ready!!! Michelle's is going to be shiny gold... right?😊
Fabrats are simply the Best. U and ur team rock Señor Paul. greetings and blessings from The Martinez/Castañeda family from San Diego California
Hunter and Landon crack me up! Things are about to get rowdy!!!
You guys are having a blast getting the rails ready.
Rail buggies are fun as hell even when you flip them
I'm in Canada I don't need a sand rail, but I want one 😅 can't use it, except maybe on the ice in the winter. But they look fun enough 🙌 thanks for sharing boys

The faces hunter makes😂 your a good kid,🎶 just some good ol boys🎶
Empi should have sponsored this party. They’re gonna make a pile off of MerlonFest.
good job! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Hunters excitement reminds me of rebuilding a 67 Kaiser Jeep and driving it windshield down for the first time when I was about his age. These will be fun memories Hunter.
I like the look of the frame on Shawn’s car, just needs some paint and it’ll be sweet!
Hunter's hair at the end of the drive =. Great Scott. Looks like a good time will be had with these new/old toys
Sandrails are such a good time! So glad the FabRats are building some cool rails to show people that it's not that bad if you start with good parts 👍🏻
I love watching these buggy videos, its reinvigorating my love/drive for buggies!
Always love the buggies, I wouldn't be able to tell how many I built over the years. Just a heads up, if you flip on the roof in the sand, it can snap your neck. We always made it a point to put on a roof of some sort, usually aluminum. To much fun. Thanks for sharing.

I am looking forward to seeing the video or videos from the weekend event where you guys are driving your biggies I will be surprised to see how many are running at the end of the weekend
