You are helping to bring back Sand Rails, now everyone will Need one.
Prices will increase!
It's like when Cleetus McFarland and gang bought up all the Ford Rangers for their race. The prices were outrageous all over the country, It's crazy that TH-cam can fluctuate car prices.
Hunters paddles are backwards
Still the best inexpensive fun anyone can have, simple fun😊
I sold mine last year for a whopping 2k running with only minor electrical work to work out. I thought sand rails were done with the new fancy sidebysides.
Oh man, what memories you two just brought back! Tooling around in an old bug with a couple of friends and the accelerator cable broke. We all gave up our shoe laces, tied them together, ran them out the window to the carb and that’s how we got home!
What I like about you guys , you always appear to have fun with your show, your boys are really lucky to have a DAD like you.
You’re all scrambling to get those buggies going which is pretty cool. All those that have owned an air cooled ride would recommend adding a fire extinguisher on the cage. Nothing worse than being on the dunes on fire and no water in sight. 😊❤
We need to see Grandma Lolly giving a Sandrail a test drive!!
I second that !
She needs her own, if Hunter finds this one too much for him Grama can probably handle it.
@@iffykidmn8170 Seeing as Grandma Lolly gave Hunter a vote of no confidence, I'd say yeah, she'll rip it!
Gramma Lolly always talks the talk, I want to see her drive one 🤣
She might break her coccyx.
Watching All you guys, Merlin, jet ski Jimmy and all the buggies at Matt's makes me want to find one. I Have not been dune bugging since I was a teenager and here I am turning 61. Hope you all have a very good time and make some great memories. Please post some videos.
Hunters spine is gonna get compressed in no time with the way that harness is set up. The rear connecting points should be shoulder height and no lower. Apart from that it’s a cool machine 👌🏻
I tell you what, if I weren’t already happily married, I would be courting grandma Lolly. She is the best!! Thank you grandma for raising such an awesome family. I respect you very much. God Bless.
Always love the buggies, I wouldn't be able to tell how many I built over the years. Just a heads up, if you flip on the roof in the sand, it can snap your neck. We always made it a point to put on a roof of some sort, usually aluminum. To much fun. Thanks for sharing.
And headrests for driver and passenger. Full face helmets with goggles and HANS device. You’ll be happy you invested in the gear if you roll it a few times
You guys are having a blast getting the rails ready.
Where is the Granny cart for Thelma & Louise to go & have fun with y'all ? Ty for taking us along
I’m glad Merlin hooked Sean up with that bigger motor! I hope it lives for a long time and runs as good as it sounds!
I absolutely love seeing Hunter and Landon with those big smiles and saying how much they love it over and over. I just bought my first buggy and can't wait for the weather to get warm so I can take a few trips. Mine has the ecotec motor with a built weddle Trans and 930 axles, it's built right. Im from KY which is where my buggy is at right now but I live and work in Ohio so just waiting for some nice weather to be able to drive it home!! I'll probably drive it around in KY for the weekend with my Uncle who has a sweet new build with turbo mustang motor on his!!!
You boys, know how to have fun!!!!!!!!
Good to see you young guys keep these old school buggy's alive
Can't wait for the video when you all will drive them buggy's :)
Love how there so chill and kickback❤❤❤
My family and I can't wait to see you guys on the dunes here soon. 😊
Paul Merlin's birthday bash will be great and I think you all will have a great time railing. Hunter since it's your rail I am proud that you are helping out. Hunter, it will be ok great idea. Paul, you all are doing work on the rails.
Love your channel Paul along with the FabRats crew 💛💛💛
Brought back memories. Way back in the ‘60s, a buddy and I overhauled an old MGA. We took it out for a test drive after we dropped the engine back in, and the throttle linkage broke. We cut a piece of barbed wire out of a farmers fence beside the road, ran it through a hole in the firewall. It was too short and I had to sit with my head under the dash and operate it while my buddy drove it back to the shop! I love watching y’all work and have fun.
You can't go wrong with Paul controlling tour throttle 😂😂
Gonna be a badass trip!!! Can't wait👍🏼
Those buggies are going to be so COOL!
From this side of the screen, it looks like you could do a mid-engine mod on that frame. I sure would like to see how that's done! Hunter, show us that video some day.
Man this series of videos remind me of growing up and piecing cars together.
In the 70s my dad had vw shop in our garage..he could remove an engine in
Stock style pulley is good for screwing sand right into the case. That's why the sand seal is a popular upgrade ESPECIALLY FOR offroad cars. There's a slip-in sand seal. No case machining needed.
I love the relationship Paul has with Hunter. Initially, when Paul's brother was in the picture Hunter was teased lots. (All in good fun) Now Hunter is learning lots and Paul is a great teacher. I enjoyed Paul's brother and his humor just want to make that point very clear.
You all are having just about enough fun with your buggies. Now you will want those next few things to make it go faster and do stuff better.
Buggies are a blast!
Sandrails are such a good time! So glad the FabRats are building some cool rails to show people that it's not that bad if you start with good parts 👍🏻
Thank you Paul and crew for the update on how things are going there in Utah ! Looks like loads of fun coming very soon !
Hunters excitement reminds me of rebuilding a 67 Kaiser Jeep and driving it windshield down for the first time when I was about his age. These will be fun memories Hunter.
Those smiles!
What a conglomeration of buggy builds...Hunter is having the time of his life, awesome.
Shawn's buggy is gonna be hot
Looking forward to the Glamis trip.
Those rails look like a lot of fun. Think Shaun's is going to look a whole lot different next time we see it.
Great stuff for great times!!
Waking up to a new Fab Rats video is like waking up on Christmas morning, two times a week! Always a treat!
Hunter is shooting flames out the back like Batman!
loving the new music in the last two videos!
SO awesome. To see you getting your daughter into a rad sport!!
Grandma Lolly is one in a million❤
Awesome !!!!!! But I think Hunter's tongue is gonna be wore out drivin that rail 🤣🤣
what a great video! thank you guys for the smiles and laughs today! hunter and Landon at the end was priceless an hunters face says it all!
Saw the EMPI (Engineered Motor Products Inc) Logo on the box Paul was carrying. Took me back to first seeing that logo in a 1967 issue of "Dune Buggyies and Hot VW's" magazine. The Inch Pincher had the logo. "The VW that eats Corvettes Alive" or something like that was the description I recall.
Nothing sketchy at all about that! I once used a piece of electrical wire for throttle cable on a bug and drove it 100 miles home. It's all good if it works.
There is nothing better than the sound of a manual shift , great video . Cheers 🇨🇦
Dont scare Grandma Lolly!!! We love her input!
Man you guys are going to have a blast, good family fun. Time to bring Thelma and Louise out of retirement to give one of the buggies a rip!
This was the typical beach / fishing buggy in Australia in the 60s-80s,steadily died out as vee wees became scarce due to attrition and 4 x 4 s became more popular. Carby icing was an issue in cold conditions. 900 X 13 Sahara Tyres were popular also old race tyres as they would not dig in and bog down, just spin when they lost traction.
If you liked glamis then you should try sand mountain in Nevada. It's just east of Fallon on highway 50 and it's about three and a half miles wide, a mile long and the face wall is 600 ft tall with razor edge on top! It's really a challenge, and the bowl on the back side is suitable for just about anything that can handle sand and a great place for the kids to practice. My 4x4 cuda could not make the climb on that wall, but I sure had fun around on the backside in the bowl
Damn, Hunters sand rail sure rips, Glamis is gonna be on another level the way things are going
My first car was a Baja bug with a double barrel carb on an 1835. It wasn’t a speed demon, but it was definitely fun.
That's called an Archimedes Scroll on the pulley. Used to be on everything with a rope seal.
Take a good first aid kit lol, how fun!
Love all you do
Since watching these videos I told my family I'm not interested in a side-by-side anymore I want a sand rail! 🤣🤙
My dad taught me double clutching, it helps with worn out synchros. You press once from gear to neutral, then release and press again from neutral to the next gear.
Omg y’all are gonna have so much fun and make so many memories!!!!
I love watching you guys work on those things I can't wait to see everybody take a rip looks like it's going to be fun
Livin' life one gear at a time!
Great work bringing these buggies back to life ! 👍
13:00
Your hand operated throttle reminds me of when my friend Renford was in an unsavory part of Los Angeles nearing sundown.
It's in an area you don't even want to be in the daylight.
He ended up tying all his shoe strings together to get his VW bug home driving home with his hand outside the driver's window.
😂
Paul you need to put one of them tracker exhaust tipper thing
That way he won’t have to remember the can 😂👍
You guy’s are having too much fun go Hunter
Great video!! You gots the buggies a runn'n!!! Making me even more anxious for spring to get here!!!
Yeah the 1835 and Duel Weber's were pretty fast back in the day my friend had a 67 bug with the same motor in it.
I had a Baja bug that had a 2100cc with a two barrel Holley (it had dual webbers) before I got it, it had been professionally built and that thing was fast.
Hey Hunter, "these little things" are known as DZUS fasteners!!!
I love the MC cable for automotive wiring😊
Best video yet! All you guys look real real happy!
Dang you guys, now I want a sand rail!
I can wait for the birthday party!
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
The buggies look like they’re really coming along. Can’t wait to see them all in action. Great work guys.👍🏼🤩🫡❤️
These grins in the buggies are like watchin a possum eatin briars.
Those facial expressions from Hunter are worth watching again.
When Hunter pulls those faces when driving........Sloth - "Hey you guys" LOL
Very cool play safe guy's thank you for sharing
Hunter's rail buggy was spitting fire.
Awesome pure fun
OSHA just loves The Fab Rats!
Hunters buggy going highway speed, now he needs headlights, taillights, blinkers and break lights to make it street legal. And license plates of course. Hopefully all of you have helmets.
Great job as always guys. Greetings from North Pole, Alaska. And yes it's flippin cold ❄, -7°f outside.
Ya'll just be have'n too much fun... !😃
A lot of buggies to maintain
Hunters face when driving that Thing 😂😂😂😂😂 he love it
Thanks for making
hunters goofy face when dropping the hammer in the buggy 😂
Got to love Grandma Lolly
You all with the sand rails...are going to start a nother trend
Man you'll have way too much fun lol. Keep up the good work you do. Thanks for the laughs and entertainment
When he says "mount the new ones" it sounds like "Mountain Dew ones".
I would enjoy you guys reading the grumpy insults sent in to you again. Grumpy people are funny, even though they don't know it.
Would love to see one of these rails with a Corvair engine.
I would build a cover because without the sand seal it will bring in sand and your crankcase will get full of sand.
I've never sand rail or been rock climbing ! Going sand railing sounds like fun ! But rock climbing kinda scares me because of the narrow looking spots in the trails ! I've been on one line roads in Colorado with my dad when I was very young and remember feeling the tires on my side sliding a little down hill ! Dad use to laugh about it a lot and kept doing it and we almost went off the road one time ! After that I it was nope I'm not doing that ever again and I'll be 69 in May never got over that event !
Awesome!!
In just a month of these 'buggy build' videos I'm guessing the prices of them have doubled everywhere. The smiles on Hunter and Landon's faces are priceless.
WOW! That motor in Sean's buggy sounds nastier than my built 1776 that I had. And mine was downright snotty it could yank the front wheels easily in second gear.
All I can say is hang on Sean You're in for a ride. Can't wait to follow you guys on your adventure for Merlin's birthday. Going to be a good time!
That because it's an 1800 +
When I was 7 or 8 years old I had a go kart with a string tied to the throttle. I had to steer with my left hand and pull the string for the throttle with my right hand over my shoulder. All the rich kids in the neighborhood laughed at it until I blew their fancy new karts away because mine didn't have a governor.
