Beautiful locomotive and beautiful vintage layout! i was given a dusty box of old Marx trains a few years ago and have really grown to appreciate them. In the box was a swing peg Commodore Vanderbilt, one Joy Line reefer car, a 490 locomotive, a few plastic cars, some rusty track and two transformers. Today I have two loops of track on a 4' by 4' platform for under the Christmas tree, a few lighted Plasticville buildings and both trains running. Lots of fun, everything made in USA, very little money invested (but a lot of love), truly "Less is More"! Thanks for posting this!
Glad to hear. Presently I'm restoring four CVs, with one of them being a swing peg like yours. I've been getting quite a few requests to make a video of the layout itself, so will be putting that together shortly. Stay tuned.
@@Marxmotorman Will do! My CV had wheels so badly worn undersize after many years of service that it just spun and threw sparks- no tractive effort whatsoever. I had to machine down the wheels and fit "tires" made from copper tubing by heat shrinking them on each wheel. It works like new now - good for another 90 years! The shell is still original- all rusty, tarnished and partially black - I'm not sure if it should retain that old Patina or not. How do you feel about leaving them original rather than repainting?
Nicely done. I would have guessed that it was something that had been, once upon a time, for sale by Marx. You have some really good skills when it comes to creating a believable Christmas loco.
This is a beautiful train nothing like running trains at christmas time . i still have my first train set. It was a marx big rail set. Only thing that does not work anymore is the transformer. I use lionel kw ill find a original transformer again at a show.
I built this train a few years ago, and can't remember the source. But it was on eBay, and the seller had a whole sheet of Christmas decals at a reasonable price. Not much info, but I hope it helps.

Very creative. I'm a fan of restorations, but as long as there's no rust. I'd keep the original finish.

Well, thank you so much. And you're right. It is a Marx Canadian Pacific made between 1938 - 1942.
Bob it was christmas 1968 when i received my train set. Its in great condition my folks paid 40 dollars then . that was alot of money then.
Forty bucks was a week's pay for me at my first job.
Love what you do and how you 🎉 make it look easy 💯
Thanks Richard. didn't think I was making it look easy, because it wasn't.
That train is beautiful 🚂❤️👍amazing
Thank you very much! I probably should have ran the train with the lights out.
Wow what a nice job . I was thinking at first glance Ameri trains . But this is a Bob custom.
Yes it is, and I've got more customs in my collection, and on my other videos. Stay tuned.

Thanks Bernie. My story is just the opposite. The only thing I have left from my first childhood set is the transformer!
Very sweet.
Thank you. Is Marx your actual last name?
@@Marxmotorman Lol no just trying to honor the great ones
Louis not Karl
Great looking Christmas train Sir. Can you share your source for the decals?
Thank you.

Hi bob no videos lately. Anything coming up?
Stay tuned Bernie. I'm working on a few new ones.
How did you make a pick up on the tender ?
I bought it on line.
A major mistake I see all of the time; you have the tender coupled on backwards to the locomotive.
And there's no excuse in my case. I've since reversed the body to its correct position.
