This solo is a prime example why EVH was the most soulful slash shredder of rock.

Van Halen's 1984 album has sold more than 20 million copies and is the band's best-selling release to date.

It’s going down right now. Great song, but it always sounded so strange to me as a kid.
Ed really knows how to bend your ear.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I hear that the 80s music is so recognizable, and a lot of kids today love asking about the 80s music. Really the beginning of really hard rock and heavy metal, and new wave. In the 80s, you’re either in heavy metal or new wave, Still a little punk, and thrash really taking off too. I should throw a pop in there, kind of between hard rock and new way. I mean, just so much great music in that decade.

When Eddie started playing all these keyboard songs, I didn't like it, but it really is solid. Sounds good.

Thanks for reacting to my request 😊.
Written by Van Halen and Michael McDonald. 40 years 🎂.
David Lee Roth could not finish lyrics of a verse. Ted Templeman produced this song and the rest of the 1984 album and 5 of the Diobie Brothers albums. He called 📞 Michael McDonald for help. McDonald finished the verse.
In studio 🎙, late Eddie van Halen played all the synthesizer parts. But, Michael Anthony and the late Eddie van Halen played synthesizers in concerts. See the music video of Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal in 1984.
Suggested song 🎵 Van Halen performs Unchained.

Michael Anthony steady and on cue bass 🔊. This song sounds awesome on my home theater system. 😂. Wifey don't like the high volume. Oh well.😢

    Eddie followed Rush's que
Loften guitar with harmonics and Getty Lee's keyboards on the moving pictures album which you have to dive into. Eddie was loving loving Rush and their insight . Eddie gave props to Loften in subdivision Tom sawyer limelight spirit of the radio that whole dang album.

Michael McDonald cowrote the lyrics and melody line. He was brought in after Dave was having problems completing it. I heard McDonald got screwed out of royalties though.

What I think sucked about the 80's in general was how over processed everything became in the digital realm. They were blazing the new digital trail at the cost of the overall sonics that analog equipment gave us. While Van Halen did a brilliant job transitioning to synths and electronic drums mixed in with the real drum kit, overall the mixes from the 80's in general sound sterile and lack in the low end compared to the best examples the 70's had to offer. Rush definitely suffered from this in my opinion. Digital synths suck compared to those analog Moog and Arp synths and Hammond B3s with a spinning Leslie cabinet:) The puny sounds of those drum machines started popping up in everything that wasn't in the Hair Band genre. I'm glad we moved out of those cheesy keyboard sounds when the 90's came.

Yeah I didn't like this music back in the day. ( I do love Van Halen"s music though!) The seventies music was much better back in the day.
