    You shud also know the composers of the song. Shankar Jaikishan. If I remember correctly, this is now your fourth song composed by the legendary duo of Shankar Jaikishan. An iconic pair who changed Indian music forever and for the first time put Indian film music on the global map. Awara Hoon, Mera Joota Hai Japani and now Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua hai were famous throughout USSR, China and Eastern Europe.

    When you react you ignore the COMPOSERS and SINGERS. And the INSTRUMENTAL interludes. This is almost across all videos. But Indians watch movies because of the MUSIC. You guys sing very well. Your reactions to the visual aspects are great. You also manage to teach a few things unknown to viewers. Thank you for not now discriminating between OLD and NEW. Art is TIMELESS.

    • @no127
      @no127 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They actually do talk about the singers if they are really touched by it, especially Lataji's voice. But you are right about the composers. They seem to only know AR Rahman. It's a shame because a lot of these old melodies are just as beautiful as AR Rahman's. But you can't really blame them as they have been introduced to AR Rahman as the 'ONE' in Indian music, so they pay special attention to his music.

    • @sumanrao1739

      @@no127 when we here listen we react among ourselves to music singing specific instruments acting directing cameramanship etc. For example in OP Nayyars music Pandit Ram Narain' s sarangi is so pueumatic. We also must react to other aspects of the music. We are enjoying how the foreigners are growing in their appreciation of Indian things. They have never commented on Rafi's voice nor Kishore nor Manna Dey etc. I think they will react only to Jagjit Singh with his ultra deep voice.

    • @sumanrao1739
      @sumanrao1739 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@no127 they kept listening to Lata in her eighties and subsequent voice which was in her middle and old age. Only NOW are they listening to her in her heydey. They will never listen to Manna Dey Lata duets nor Lata classical based songs. Because their team is too young perhaps. But they all have great taste. They appreciate pure classical above light music and dance. Kudos in many ways....!

    • @no127
      @no127 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sumanrao1739 I think it is just a matter of taste and how one listens. Maybe they don't find a lot of these singer's vocals special enough to comment on. Or perhaps they just haven't heard the right songs🤷‍♂️. They reacted to Lata's 'Kuch dil ne kaha' on patreon. They were in high praise of her voice. They said she sounded like a Disney princess! So, it may be that they haven't come across the right songs of these singers.

    If you want to watch a really great classic from a "film art" perspective, do watch the marathi film Sant Tukaram (1936). This film was selected as one of the 3 best films at the Venice Film Festival and is generally regarded as a cinematic treasure in India. The context is the biopic of the poet Saint Tukaram (17th century), one of the greatest and most revered saints in India, who propagated societal reform and his sheer devotion as well as his philosophy have left a deep impact on the cultural milieu of central/western India.

If some one has been really idolised in Indian film Industry, from big b to naseeruddin shah or from SRK to kamal hassn, then its him. There can be no Hindi classic cinema without the great V. Shantaram. Even the classic Marathi cinema. The cinema of Shantaram (he was known as "Anna saheb" also) was so complete in all aspects that his movie studio "Prabhat Studio " in Pune was popular as a school of arts in people. Shantaram had donated this huge studio to Govt. of India to open a training institute for Indian cinema in 1969. Today it is known as Films and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. Its cinema archives is one of the best in the world. A must visit place. So many world class actors, directors, editors are produced here.

    Film Facts
    Fact 1: The Indian film industry was centered in and around Kolkata in the early 1900s, which later moved to Mumbai.
    Fact 2: The term Tollywood, a portmanteau of the words Tollygunge and Hollywood, was first used for the film industry in Kolkata, by the American Cinematographer Wilford Deming in 1932, and in the current times, Tollywood is used by both, the Indian Bengali Film Industry as well as the Telugu Film Industry.

    • @telugujoshi
      @telugujoshi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Recent Tollywood is a portmanteau of Telugu and (holly/bolly)Wood

    • @sambit99able
      @sambit99able 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@telugujoshi The term Bollywood is very recent so let's leave that out of the equation, and yes, the Telugu film industry is also known as Tollywood because of Telugu and Hollywood. In India we have 2 Tollywoods - The Indian Bengali Film industry being the older one, and the Telugu Film industry being the fairly recent one. People normally fight as to which industry is the original Tollywood, but I feel fighting over such a trivial issue is a waste of time.
