I just found Roman Szmal and now they are my new favirite, and now I am going to get more. They are very affordable to me, I love DS, but oh my there are so expensive here in the UK. I have W&N too And use the gouache for calligraphy, (old school). And I loved loved loved that your child was there, it's beautiful she feels part of what you're doing. You and Aylona are my go to teachers in here and I am loving this new adventure, thank you so much for taking the time to share with us.
Fabulous review as usual Irit. I love my Roman Szmal paints and find I recommend them frequently. Love that they have a focus on single pigment paints. Their honey formula is perfect for hot dry climates, I love how easily they rewet and their amazing pigment load. Thrilled to see some of these curated sets coming out in metal tins, perfect for beginners or those looking to increase their palette collection. I've never tried their brushes though, that might have to go on my wish list too.
Hello Irit... It was so lovely to hear Lilly... we haven't seen any of her artwork in ages, I hope she's still enjoying her painting. I think the Roman Szmal paints are wonderful quality. I prefer to pick and choose rather than purchase a set palette, however, I do agree with you that they are fantastic value for a newbie.. the full pans are fun to dip into , less damage to (my) brush compared to the half pan... LOL... I do like the plastic insert in your watercolour palette... it would eliminate any rust issues. Thank you for another great video.. take care
I just received an order of Roman Szmal watercolours from Jackson's and they are absolutely gorgeous. I love the granulation some of the colours have and they have such a big personality. I just wish they sold tubes and not just pans. Ty for your reviews.
The joy of opening up a new set of paints!! Very cool that you are doing a mixing set of printables! I just have to figure out how to make my printer cooperate…
ooooh a roman szmal tin! i've made my own custom 28-color metal palette which is super fun but it's even more fun to have an official palette! do i already have many of those paints? yes. do i still want this palette? YES! 🤣 i have some DS buff and am thrilled that RS has it too, i didn't know that before and if it's a worthy candidate i will definitely try that when i need more... i love the granulation
I just bought my first set of Roman Szmal in that latest Jackson's watercolor sale and I'm soooo excited to play around with them. I went with their botanical set, but snagged a few straggling open stock colors too.
I couldn't help taking advantage of the Jackson's sale too. I have the Botanical set coming (I had none of those colours) and added some more. I love the ones I already have.
Video worth a watch simply to hear Lilly. Thanks for reviewing these, I've been looking at them and wondering. They seem granulating, but I found out that sometimes the camera lies. 😊
So lovely to hear you and Lily (don't know how her name is spelled) chat! 😍 You can hear the love and patience in the tone. ☺️ I love a bunch of these colours! Just wish they hadn't included the PY74 since it's SO very not lightfast. 🙈
i'm so glad we're seeing more of roman szmal brushes. i have a few vids on roman szmal brushes on my channel if you're interested ;P thank you so much for sharing these swatches with us!🥰 i'm quite interested in that dark ochre, lovely more earthy 'raw sienna' if you will. love it~ 😆
Oh no.. More watercolor swatches. I have enough watercolors.. I don't need any new ones but these are pretty. I really like that they have Buff Titanium because it is one of my absolute favorites. Also.. any set that has Quins I'm fine with. Quinacridones make any palette better, I think.
Thank you for showing all the cool colors but, Lily stole the show. I could hear German and Hebrew so I didn't know what she was saying exactly but I could catch some of it. 💗
I saw a video on these. Then found a few more and just had to try them. These are now my favourites, even over Daniel Smith! I know...and I have heaps of DS. There's something about the way these feel, the colours, the way they re-wet, the lay down on the page that gives me an emotional response for some reason. Whereas Daniel Smith are reliable, great quality, huge range, easy to use but are just paints. I cannot explain it logically, but I just find Roman Szmal to be an experience...weird. So I just love them.
Just to clarify, who am I to say you should paint instead of swatching. You are one of my favorite artists (did I mention I find your panting therapeutic).
I like to see what I'm.working with before I paint with the colors. Also, many people watch these videos to see which colors come in a set or how certain colors look, so I make them to help others make good decisions 😀
My heart! The little voice speaking (in Hebrew, I presume) was the best! No offense to the rest of the swatching, haha. How many languages do your daughters speak?
Lol none taken!! Lilly speaks Hebrew and German, and is picking up more and more English everyday since that's what my partner and I speak at home. Ella, my eldest speaks German, Hebrew, English and this year started Italian. We're multi culti and love it😀❤️
@@iritlandgraf I have been binge watching Shtisel lately so Lilly’s chatter sounded somewhat familiar. Being multilingual is wonderful. I’m grateful to have learned many languages. Your girls are lucky!
30 seconds in.....Where's the Irit telling us NOT to buy a curated set instead of buying individual colors that speak to me.....Now they're even on sale at Jackson's - to get everyone tempted because we all(?) love watercolors, especially Roman Szmal, there is no such thing like "too much colors", don't we all love metal tins, you can't elude in too much swatching with all the nice things to buy in Irit's shop to feed your Swatch-itis. I thought we'd all be safe from being.tempted to buy RS on your channel because those are not vegan. So please please dear Irit tell me at the end of the video that I have to be strong and shut.up the want-monster 😁. (For everyone in the EU it might be a good alternative to buy at Peter's Art, Germany, Szal Art, Poland or Artemiranda, Spain. (Just to write at least something helpful). Thank you thank you 🤩
I'll help! Don't buy a curated set! ☺️ There will almost always be colours that you just Not That Into, and if you need a specific reson to pin it on; that PY74 will disappear completely in mid to light washes. It's super un-lightfast 😁 Just buy the ones screaming at you. You can do it! (Insert cheerleading moves here)
@@hannahthufvesson I withstood the want monster since all the new sets came out but you know this "when even Irit bought it I might need it too" lol. And thank you for the sideline cheerleader shout out for me 🤩

I just discovered these and bought the wooden. Box set. They are amazing.

I haven't tried this brand, but it's lovely to see that they sent you some paints!
I’m so hoping you will try their Naples Yellow light! It looks so similar to Schmincke!
always fun.. thanks Irit

I'm so tempted to buy some of these paints 😍Is there such a thing as too many watercolours???
No such thing! I did buy them, but the ones I got were very sticky and I was disappointed ☹️
If there is, I don't think it's bad!
They do tend to be sticky but that means they are very easy to rewet and are quite intense
@@landlockedwy4603 Oh that's a shame. Being based in the U.K. I don't have many problems with sticky paints because it's generally freezing here.

Stop swatching and start painting; you’re a very talented artist (but who am I to say so). You do what pleases you (but we do love it when you paint).
