    Really interesting palette and not as much overlap with my own self curated box in an identical box as I thought. Very attracted to this as an option as it contains colours I want and there’s space for more. I really want the more earthy pigments. Thanks so much for this review, it might simplify my life! I LOVE the Aquarius paints, they are just so good to use. The specialist mixes especially are very nice, as are their dark neutrals. These paints are my go to ones at the moment, and for anyone wanting deeper colours over larger areas they are great. I am not a subtle water colourist, I want vibrancy and I just love how spontaneous I can be with these. Your humming bird is just lovely and confirms what I feel about how vibrantly the paints can be used. Like whit nights but so much better! They layer so nicely…maybe the Aquarius violet would be nice to add to your box, I am in love with it and also the Aquarius green.

      Thank you for your lovely suggestions, it is going to take me a fair while to choose only four....haha! They really do seem to have some interesting and unique colours. They're definitely intense, more so than White Nights, though I like them too. Subtle? What is this word?😂 😂

    Shadow violet and ocean blue are fun colors, they kinda separate and show the different pigments. Mineral violet is another one that looks so amazing. It’s at the top of my wishlist.
    I love the unintended smiley face with the sunset painting. Lol
    Beautiful work.

    Wow, you are so creative! I usually spend weeks on one painting.
    The Roman Szmal are fantastic and very affordable. I collected a lot of colours since last year. They are now also available at Adamstown in Australia. You should order some open stock, just because it is so much fun to unwrap the full pans, lol.
    For special mixes I recommend Aquarius Green, Shadow Violet, Przybysz's Grey and Mineral Violet. Potter's Pink, Cherry Quin Red, French Ochre (and many others) are also lovely.

    • @BeckyTregear

      Thank you so much 😀 It sounds like there is a huge selection to choose from and how I am going to be able to pick only four is going to be a real challenge, lol! I have to paint fast to keep up with my video schedule.....some things of course take more time and I film those over a few weeks. 🙂

      @@Bonnie10au hehe! That’s what I am about to do! They are such good value and so nice to use that they are irresistible! I loved your hummingbird and the eucalyptus flowers. I did not know eucalyptus trees bloomed - so I learned something new today with an art lesson. I like all of these colors, but it is a very specific palette that I would not put together for myself. I recently received 18 Roman Szmal colors from the recent Jackson’s sale and was really impressed with the quality of the paint. Some colors you might like: Aquarius Orange #354 is a lovely bright orange, and Pyrrole Rubin #328 is a rich deep red. Cobalt Violet Deep #404 is great if you like cobalt violet, but want more pigment on the page. Mineral Violet #334 is a dark purple, but in washes you get pink and blue as well. Your set has a lot of blue, but you might consider French Ultramarine #221, because it is well, ultra. Like really intense. The Indigo hue #220 is a nice deep dark blue (PB60,PBk7) that could fill in for Payne’s Grey. And finally, Aquarius Black #247 (PBk11), which is super granulating and Aquarius Green #346, which you really have to see in person to appreciate. Now I see why everyone loves that color! Thanks for sharing your time and delightful personality. See you in the next video😎

      @BeckyTregear  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your excellent colour suggestions! I wouldn't even know where to begin choosing so I really appreciate having a starting point. I often go for an Indigo so that might well end up being one of the four. Ahhh so many decisions! 😂 Eucalyptus flowers are quite pretty, and I really like them. 💕

    I though I was the only one who removed the floppy bits😊 from the metal pallets! I’ve recently changed from plastic pallets to metal tins, full pans, reds/purples in one, blues in another, yellows etc. Happy with my setup but am considering another one with only granulating paints. Love all my Roman Szmal paints so far!

      Thank you for the info, as I hadn't really researched the colours and I will need to spend more time painting with it. It does seem to split up into different hues, which I really like, so I am sure it will be a great colour to use! 😊

  • @AlexisCassandraArt

    I think the cobalt is stunning! You definitely could use a Payne’s grey in there. My favorite paintings were the beach and the hummingbird. I’m definitely a sucker for those silhouette paintings, especially with the super bright colors! It overall looks like a nice set that could just benefit from a few more colors added:)

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cobalt is a really interesting colour, and just that slightly more muted so it is a nice addition. I like it when there is space to add a few more pans of my choosing. 😊

  • @tempest6781
    @tempest6781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    They are lovely but yes I think it's missing a purple, another red and a blackish one like Paine's grey (I really like that colour) but their are beautiful and quite useful for scenery. I would be tempted for a Prussian blue honestly even if there's lots of blues there... Some look too similar.
    It was lovely to see your art :)

    • @BeckyTregear

    I bought this set 2 months ago, and the Schmincke full 140 tube wood box set from Jacksons art. I've been waiting for someone to finally get this set and make a video on it. It's an amazing set and iam more excited about this 24 Roman szmal set, then my 140 Schmincke tube set 😆
    BTW, I was pretty upset that none of the Pans were wrapped, let alone marked. Most of the pans in the tin had dust and crumbs from all different colors in the palette. My ocd was raging and I had to clean them all up. They 100% should have been individually wrapped each pan like all their other sets I've bought

      Oh wow, the 140 tube set?? I want that sooo much, but just a wee bit pricey for me right now, lol! How sticky are the Roman Szmal compared to Sennelier and M Graham? I do fine with Sennelier but M Graham not so much. I don't want to deal with a very sticky paint. I gravitate to the bright colors too and these do seem very bright but eh, stickiness! Loved the hummingbird!

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forgot to mention that these are honey based as well. Nowhere near as sticky as M. Graham but with the same sort of vibrance. This might be because they've dried for longer in the pans. My Sennelier paints tend to dry less sticky too though, so I think you would be fine with the Aquarius pans. 😊

    I can't decide if I should invest in this or holbein, what would you recommend for a beginner?

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's so hard to choose! 😂 I love both Holbein and Roman Szmal, so you can't go wrong with either of them. The paint quality is excellent for both brands. The Roman Szmal tin I have here is somewhat different to a starter set of colours, but overall the colour palette is really useful. I ended up buying four extra pans of colour to fit into this tin (it'll fit one extra pan per row), and somewhere in my collection is a video on that so you can see which extra colours I picked. Roman Szmal also has a full pan starter set of 5 which is pretty cheap and is a good way to try some colours and see if you like them. With Holbein, I found a dot card years ago with all of the colours, so I chose my palette and bought individual tubes. This is also fun, if rather time consuming! Pre-poured pans are easier to manage when you're a beginner. You won't be disappointed with Roman Szmal, I'm sure of it! ❤

    • @jeydaness
      @jeydaness 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ thanks a lot for the detailed response :) I have been watching your videos on both and they indeed both look like good options but Roman szmal might be more convenient because of the pans, i agree. Plus im in Europe and they are becoming more and more widely available here in art shops. They are almost twice as expensive as Holbein though but still it is not like I need a lot of colors initially
