Hunter Thompson always said that you can't hoard fun as it has a notoriously short shelf life and it is important to enjoy it in the moment. In other words don't wait for it or save it up for later. Live your life, be here now, in the perpetual present. Love your videos!
That's a really great way of putting it. I feel like I always try to put fun in a Tupperware and try to save it for later, but when I open the box the fun has all just vaporized because I didn't consume it when it was fresh.
Honestly I forgot how to have fun or relax. I’m in my later 20’s and I feel like it’s impossible to have fun . I work every day in my 9-5 when I get out I have school when I’m done with school I have homework by that time it’s already late at night. On my days off I have to catch up on everything I couldn’t do in the week and it’s typically not fun. Whatever free time I can find I’m stressing because I could be studying for a test or working on my future. Or I’m stressed because I want to have fun and the clock is just ticking to a new work week . So I can’t just sit and do nothing. I think I make it worse by trying to have fun I just get sad because the time is almost up . I don’t get myself “new toys” because I need the money to pay bills and school. I lost all my friends because I’m always busy and often they are busy also. Sorry for being a downer but I needed to vent . Even tho your videos do bring a smile to my face 😊.
Youre not alone man. But remember this my brother perseverance pays off! I strongly believe that! Some seasons of life suck ass but it passes👊 Godbless
I'm there too man. Finished the hectic "my entire life is consumed by work and school" lifestyle and recently found a steady job that I like... but I have no idea how to enjoy my life.
If it helps, my life looked like that for my late twenties. Since then, I rekindled friendships and moved countries, making new memories and prioritizing fun. There is light at the end of the tunnel, maybe it's just not bright enough for you to see it yet ☺️
I’m in this boat too- I get up at 5 and work until 6 and then eat, shower, do homework, and am in bed before 9. It’s hard. It’s a struggle. But we got this. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, friend. ♥️
One thing I've found really fun since I'm getting older is going back and finding things from my childhood that I loved but had pretty much forgotten about. After becoming an adult you'll probably notice that what you liked when you were 10 isn't as good as you thought it was back then but the nostalgia is always fun xD
I'm 27 and left my teaching job for better work/life balance and real benefits. I have more income too. No one loves working full time but I actually can afford to do things like local day trips or comic cons and it's pretty nice. I forgot how much fun fun was. I spent so much of my early twenties trying to read books (philosophy, self help, productivity stuff etc) to make myself this machine of endless efficiency, productivity, and meaning and it wasn't good. The anxiety/depressed feelings were sky high.
I spent most of my 20s working too hard, not valuing fun and obsessing over how to construct a narrative of progress like you said. I've since learnt to take fun far more seriously and so put together a fairly long and varied list of completely pointless and enjoyable things I enjoy doing, which I choose randomly from when bored and don't know what to do. Sounds boring but seems to work!
@@kurthummelstan Draw, go record shopping, write some music, read up on a topic I'm curious about, swim, exhibition etc. - but the point is it has to be personal, for me half the fun is simply getting out your comfort zone and discovering things that you love to do! :)
I actually bought an Apollo Phantom electric scooter for exactly this reason. Pre-COVID, I was shocked by how much fun it was to take those Lime rental scooters the mile between my apartment building and the train station. I was repeatedly floored by just how much FUN I would have riding them. And sure enough, now that I have my own proper high-powered scooter, not only do I have fun getting around, but I seek out routes to just go and ride for fun. I did a new route on Friday and had so much fun i did it again Sunday, purely because it was so much fun. I'm not a thrill-seeker, I'm not an adrenaline junkie, and I definitely have an aversion to falling, but the FUN is undeniable.
It makes me sad that this video is so needed but I agree, fun is a crucial part of a well lived life. I would say you can choose to inject fun into your day to day by making fun choices. Wear fun outfits (always puts me in a good mood to start off the day) and even in a serious setting you can have appropriate lightheartedness or camaraderie. One day I was going for a bike ride and I passed by this empty splash park like with fountains in the ground, and I felt for a moment like a kid thinking my mom wouldn’t want me to get wet- but then I remembered I’m a grown up and I rode my bike through the water! It was so much fun and it cooled me off and it was great. Anyway, a lot of times you can choose to ride your bike through the water.
Why do you always have to call me out on my perfectionism Wheezy? Gosh darn it, your videos are always so refreshing and a reminder I need when I get bogged down. Thank you! 🤘 Now I am going to go dance in my kitchen to turn Beach Boys…after I get these dishes done.
mad respect for making fun and educational stuff for so long :) i love every little joke (and every big joke) and get great food for thought after every video (no shade on your earlier work, i love it dearly as well)
This reminds me of this thing I’ve been (trying to do) for a while it’s call my Do Nuthin Day, or Do Whatever Day. Basically I plan a day off once a week where I do whatever I want w/o guilt, regardless of if I “deserve “ it or if I was extremely productive that week. (Obviously there are certain things I can’t neglected even if it’s my day off) but still! Ive found its rlly helpful for general life living
bahaha an ad came when you were so passionately yelling: " You're going to take a nap because it rules! And you're going to try to have the dream again where you were flying around naked---" and it was the best. Great commercial cliffhanger ever, pretty much.
Maybe you should make a video about you having fun for 30 days, like a 30 day challenge or something because to be honest I forgot how to have fun and I think I need to see it being done to get an idea, save us!
I would say that your continual quest for personal improvement and sharing it with all of us has been inspirational and fun. This one in particular was both fun and funny. And that, Carl? Sheesh. Amirite? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this amazing fun video! Just what I decided to do recently. I quit my gym membership and bought an electric bike (living in The Netherlands), I'm having so much fun on it.
This is very timely. I was thinking about how I'm never going to be super successful because I'm too much of a goofball and don't take things seriously enough. Given the choice between serious and fun, I'll take fun. Thank you for confirming me.
Fun for me in more careless times, was when living in Chicago during autumn, Lake Michigan can get good size waves from northwinds and the water is still mild in temp from previous summer. So a few of us city dwellers would go out onto the peer where sometimes the waves were crashing completely over it. Gawd! What a rush getting pummeled by the swells while holding onto the chain that went down the center of the peer. Sometimes the waves would shake even the concrete peer and knock you down on your knees. 😌to be young and probably pretty dumb. Good times. Kids dont try this at home(: Edit: *pier
I’m not trying to be a lame-o grammar police, but just wanted to kindly convey that that type of pier is spelled “pier”. :) I understood what you meant though, which is the point of language after all! It sounds like you had a lot of fun too!
I love having pointless junk around that’s fun to look at. Brings me joy. I also recommend having some beers with a friend while working on a puzzle together. Fun.

I tend to find it easier when I feel like I've got my ducks in a row, but that can easily turn into a thing where you get stuck always trying to keep up and never stopping and smelling the flowers. So there a balance there somewhere.

It honestly drives them nuts. Honestly, "Cuz it's fun" is probably my catchphrase at this point.

Analyzing how to have fun is such a funny concept but still important. Great video as always!
