No, not even close. Wildes is off his rocker. Saying social media sites have a responsibility to police and then even comparing it to how people voluntarily (forth no real enforcement policing aspect) spoke up against the LA times is completely idi0tic. An incredibly lazy and shortsighted take. That is a pathetic excuse for entitled kids. Sure, it's part of most kids lives to be on social media all the time. But that's on them and their parents to be responsible with that. And hopefully when people say things out of line on her social media, others will respond and call them out. But that's very different from essentially demanding that Twitter turn into the police. If people are editing her into inappropriate pictures, then that's gotta stop and I'm pretty sure there's laws against that already. But if people are generically being mean, then it's nuts to say Twitter is responsible. And Wildes gave no real defense of his take either. He just stated it as a fact. Easily one of his worst takes ever.

@SageShini you're assuming the conclusion, which I think we all know lacks intelligence. You're assuming that it is irresponsible of Twitter or Facebook or whoever to not stop all the mean comments. That's not their responsibility. If Wildes thinks it is and he wants to kinda derail the conversation then he ought to have an actual argument as to why he thinks it's their responsibility. "It is," is not an argument. By that reasoning, I could say it's all WILDES responsibility because I can just say "it is." Give an actual argument or get back to talking about sports. As he himself pointed out, when people say things out of bounds, someone should call them out.

CC definitely has some offensive weaknesses but most don't see them. The obvious one is that she doesn't like to shoot jumpers off her right side. If you watch ANY of her games most of her 3s are shot when she dribbles to her left. The funny thing is Van Lilith tried to force her to her left which is CC's strong side! If CC is forced to dribble with her right hand, she almost always tries to go to the hoop. She rarely pulls up off her right side! If UCONN is smart, they'll force her right and meet her at the rim.

I read a quote in a book recently: “People who are demanding, critical and angry tend to be intensely lonely”
All the people that spend their time harassing people online fit this perfectly. They feel horribly degraded, worthless and lonely, unable to connect with others in a positive way. One of the only things they can do to make themselves feel better is to display their “superiority” over others in the only way they know how - trolling online. It’s also addicting because feeling superior or like you got the best of someone feels really good, temporarily…until it fades, and then you need to do it again.
Point being, the people doing the harassing are just sick and maladjusted people. We have to keep that in mind.

The sexualization of college athletes in general is a problem. I swear, for every post I saw about Caitlin Clark's performance, I saw 2 more of her in tight fitted clothes with thousands of likes & comments discussing if she was "low key" hot.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the responses devolved even further into talking about who was hotter between her & Angel Reese, with people posting pictures, calling the other girl ugly, and of course, getting racially insulting the further the threads went on.
It's like social media has completely corrupted people's ability to discern what's appropriate to talk about & what to say in a public forum. NOTHING is off limits, and everyone feels free to say the most degenerate stuff imaginable.
