I own a Mazda 626 Sedan in Prestige Silver Metallic colour, 1990 model ... bought brand new in Melbourne, Australia as a gift from my father for my 18th birthday. He paid $ 32,000 Australian dollars for it back then! It's now 32 years old, has done 500,000 kilometres (310,000 miles) and l continue to drive it daily. Has never failed me. Unbelievable car. I cannot part with it. My first and so far, only car ...!! It still looks like new and has always been outside for its entire 32 years, so far.
    People cant believe it!
    Yesterday l purchased the 2022 Mazda 3.
I am keeping my 626 and will never part with it and intend to drive both cars.

You really do have to drive these cars to find out just how lovely they are. It's a shame they are not bigger here in Europe but the stranglehold of the big German three marques is so tight people don't see anything in the Mazda logo....simply not posh enough. Well that's what I think living in the UK.

Here in Germany, I see Audi, BMW and VW drivers often admiring my Mazda 3...they do indeed seem confused: "its beautiful but it isn't one of ours...strange"

@@PaulA-zp7hn well after having a 3 hatch, I would like a bmw 1 series but compared to the Mazda the equipment isn't very generous!

@@MrDamodee Out of curiosity, what would make you take the Series 1 over the 3? (apart from the obvious better resale value, possibly better engineering and quality, reputation...all of which you pay more for)?

Btw, I do like the series 1 and the X2 and yes, Mazda are very generous with kit.

@@PaulA-zp7hn the badge alone......people here in the UK are judgemental. I have nothing but things to say about the Mazda and it would be a better car than the 1 series no doubt.

@@MrDamodee People here in Germany are also and for the most part, swear by the big DE car makers (although Kia seems to be gaining some respect)....
While I think my 3 is probably the most beautiful car on the road here, I also got it to "stick it to 'em". It's a great feeling having a stunning car that almost nobody else has. The only shame is that Mazda didn't give us more powerful engine options.

Really good review of the new Mazda engine. Finding it hard to do a test drive of the auto-gearbox but the manual gearbox was very impressive. The equipment list is looking very good when compared to Mercedes A-Class Executive. Additional features on the A-Class is pushing the cost of the car up (e.g. Blind-Spot warning indicators).

Very nice review. Gorgeous scenery, too! (Slovenia? It's on my bucket list of places to go; just lovely!). The car looks stunning in this color. I agree: In an age of cars that are full of folds and sharp angles, the sedan's smooth, organic lines stand out even more. Definitely one of the best-looking cars out there, and a timeless design too, I bet.

Finally a channel that describes what the engine "facelift" change that bumped the HP is! That alone gives you a thumbs up and subscription from me. Love mazdas, my father has the old mazda 3, and im thinking of buying the CX30 with the skyactive x. Just want to figure out what the reliability of this engine is first so ill wait one more year. Feel free for some long term reviews of the X engine if you have the opportunity. From my talks with a Mazda engineer, it seems so far there have not been any major issues with the engine, so fingers crossed as its the only engine that has actual power in the europe lineup.

      @Pit-Stop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I did ask Mazda a little while ago about the reliability of the X engines (no PR stuff, the guy in charge is very much down-to-Earth and open about things). He explained there were no major problems with the new engines. Will try to get an update on that on Friday, if I can.

Great review terrible sound quality at times which was a shame as it spoilt it a bit, I have the hatchback of this model the fuel consumption is very impressive 45mpg on shorter journeys and up to 60mpg when on a run as you say it is much better on fuel once you are on a motorway I have also seen way under 5L per 100kms, after 2000miles my average is just over 50mpg (5.3L per 100kms) which for a 2L petrol engine is amazing.

When talking to a Mazda electrician he sad that the only difference is the ECU,, all modern cars use default ECUs with premap, but more expensive ones use now samrt ECUs so fore example the car ECU is tuned to Europ + has self-tune that uses all the sensors to tuen their fuel map and be more effective.
It's not a big improvement but it can get you better gas response and fuel efficiency(~10%).
It is used in expensive car's fore 10+ yrs and on many cars in EU bc of regulations, EURO norm fulfillment.....
+ some cars like mercedes have samrt automatic gearbox too
So the difference you feel in the first 10k km is that!

Thank you for the video. I am thinking to buy a Mazda 3 hatchback, but not sure if I should go for the one with 150 HP or the one with 186 HP. I have heard from one Mazda dealer that 150 HP has good enough power, and it´s not worth the money to get 186 hp. What is your thoughts?

    • @Pit-Stop

I would say the 150 hp engine is plenty and can be surprisingly economical, depending on how you drive. The X engine doesn't feel all that much more powerful, nor is it much more economical. I would say test drive both back-to-back if you can.
