Thanks for the content over the past decade, I have been here since Worlds 2013, choo choo all aboard the LFN train. I was bleak when Monte left for Overwatch, there was a void and I hope that void is always filled with the LFN network.

When it comes to standing up against NEOM and standing up against World Cup, I think one of the key factors that the reactions have been so different was the fact that Froskurinn was a part of the broadcast back then.
Love her or hate her, she was the prime political activist of esports.
Some time ago Thorin implied that there were people from LEC talent, that would take the NEOM deal if they didn't mess up the messaging and timing. Frosk was part of that talent. Might have been her. Just saying she might just be classic drama queen Karen.

If you geezers want double elim at Worlds, put forward some real suggestions as the how to make the finals more fairly split for the winners bracket team. Getting side selection should be a given. DE works for FGC because the matches are much shorter hence there can be bracket resets.
Dota matches are longer but surely double elimination works there. And there is no bracket resets in TI

So i love Thorins point about familiarity between regions and esp the G2 example of Yike not beeing familiar with the LCK/LPL teams and even NA teams to that.
So at worlds ive got to say it was a huge handicap for G2 in having a rookie JGL like Yike who had little to no experience playing against certain players and their playstyles.
Its never gonna happen but the only way i ever see western teams beeing competetive with asian teams is if they keep playing them maybe not on a daily basis but atleast on a weekly/bi weekly basis.
That's why we have regions they can view vods thats what makes it fun its pretty common in most sports

And no its mostly just Football that has that , look at Hockey theres only 1 league in the world , Handball has 1 region in the world that matters, Skiathlon/Biathlon has 1 league.
Most sports are actually not big enough to have more then 1 competetive region and thus stuff like World Cup is inferior to the league titles.
What is most common and what is most succesfull for a viewer perspective (E-sports is much more of a entertainment sport then a competetive sport atm) is to have more teams be competetive and theres only oneway to achieve this and that is to have more cross region games played per year. (How they solve that is up to smarter and better ppl then me)

Not because they were top players in the world even tho arguably at a point some were, but because they are LEGENDS of NA , admittedly I know less about older lec but xpeke froggen people like that should also get in. They are legends of eu. I think it should account for legends from all regions, the conversation of "hes better and hes not in" will always happen no matter what you do but if its gonna be you can only get in off international success than its like 5 people outside of lck lpl and it should instead be each leagues personal hof instead which is just more boring imo

I continue to think like a plant, I guess, because this whole debate surrounding Saudi doesn't move me at all. By working these jobs or not working these jobs - there is no difference whatsoever to that the Saudi government does or does not do. I also am firmly of the opinion that the only way real change could meaningfully happen over there would take a long time and would require the culture from the ground up to shift - and prolonged exposure to to alternative cultures is much more likely to speed that change along rather than being isolated away from differing cultures. And it is a cultural thing - Islamic nations very clearly tend towards authoritarian governments, and extremely conservative laws that constrain gay/women's/trans rights.
Meanwhile, it's nice when we get big events and when money gets injected into the scene we enjoy. I agree the people who morally grandstand about these things, and make a point of using the logic that any association with a thing whatsoever is an endorsement of it, should be judged for not standing by those loud principles when it will require sacrifice of them, but that's about it. The expectation for anyone to turn down a life-changing career advancement or forever abandon any notion that they care about human suffering or equality is so childishly broken it's barely worth responding to.
Agreed. I also think it's better to expose the people to different cultures than let them be isolated, but I also recognize that it realistically doesn't amount to much.
In the end, the only real issue is: are you going to stand by your words and so-called 'principles?' If your intention is money, don't make a huge point about your values and moral highground, when you're going to go where the bag is, anyway.

Riot had a monopoly on international tournament, but with the Saudi tournament has an amazing format (double elim, better group stages) it would be the first time Riot's hand might be forced to move.
Riot isnt forced to do anything, they own the rights to the game, they play God. I can see where you are coming from but I dont believe Riot will do anything different.

Saying Bjergsen was never a TOP 10 mid EVER in the world is pretty insane, the talent pool was not as deep in 2013-2015 and looking at individual performances when he played internationally, that’s quite a wild take to say he wasn’t even TOP 10
Bjergensen was not good internationally, he was never the best mid from NA internationally out of the other NA mids, that was Hai nad espetially Jensen.
2014 is the only time you can make the argument for him being top 10 in world and it will still be very hard.

Bro? I've watched League since Season 1 "worlds" Dreamhack basement and there's no way you can FOR SURE put Bjergsen in Top 10 in the world in that timeframe.
He played in a significantly weaker region. It wasn't even loaded up with VC money. There were at least 3 mids in Europe that were better than Bjergsen, at least 3-5 in Korea and were hard carrying at the time. Let's not forget about china as well, depending on timeframe 1-3 outstanding mids.
