Adam, I just want to say thank you for this video.
For more than a year I have been trying the block editor on and off, and left frustrated every time.
Finally - an easy to understand tutorial that inspires me to dive in again. I'm also pleased to see that with Kadence Blocks, mobile editing is finally available, this was probably the biggest bugbear in the past for me.
I've also tried a number of other block editor plugins, but I must agree - Kadence Blocks simply seems to cater to most of my website building needs.
Thank you for the great value that you bring to the table. Much appreciated.

This was such a relief to find!! Thank you. I'm first time Word Press user creating small simple website and Elementor kept glitching and was generating stress as everything "seemed" to need Elementor. I am So GRATEFUL to find your video. Clear, easy to understand exactly what I am looking for and best yet, I can now start my website development using Word Press! Phew. 👍

I despise all ads making normal people feel they can build a website. Then you jump into it and there's so many limits and so many add-ons and things you need, like its an endless marketing loop. I just want to have control over the containers and the rows and the colors!
Thank you for your video, it makes me feel hopeful! Now... to try it...

Just assuming, since you didn't say it, that I need to activate the gutenberg plugin before adding the kadence blocks? I'm new, sorry if that's an ignorant question :). I also found in importing the ready made Kadence template I didn't notice the little slider bar to override anything I'd already done, LOL so that was fun, but I fixed it. :) Thanks for being so specific and giving us this info for free. I've been watching your videos for 2 years, thank you Adam.

No, you never want to use the Gutenberg plugin. It is natively built into WordPress. When you use the Gutenberg plugin, you are enabling experimental beta features that will break things.

Looks promising. I tried the combination for an hour. My experience wasn't as intuitive as I had hoped, but I think that was due to focussing on minute issues. So far, the biggest compaint I have is the Row Layout Block and nesting of additional Row Blocks. I wish there was a more general "Section Block" where you could layer multiple rows more intuitively.
But there's no question I agree with your comment re: Gutenberg not going away and that adding a 3rd party page builder only forces you to additional modules. Then there's also 'premium' themes that have their own proprietary settings as well, and before you know it, it's a proverbial mess.
I'll definitely have to give it another go though. Conceptually, this model makes alot of sense and I have little doubt there will be a continued shift toward making 3rd party premium Gutenberg block plugins and away from bloated page builders.

thanks, Adam! you helped guide me in a much better direction with a couple client websites that were junked-up with loads of theme-dependent plugins.
IMO, gutenberg and 'block editors' made wordpress kind of goofy the past few years, with plugin conflicts, lack of options, etc. i get the 'novice user' intent for the functionality, but as a 12+ year wordpress user who was used to the 'classic' editor, things are still a little weird.
the Kadence stuff adds the options i was looking for in page editing. it's kind of pricey for the pro, but the regular version is really usable and far better than elementor, wpbakery, thimcore and others.
    thanks again!

I REALLY love my page builder (BB), but understand where this is going and eventually it will be too big to ignore. Normally I'm very loyal to a product, but would love to add this to my portfolio and this video is a great one showing some of the basics. Thanks and you have my thumbs up!
What I would really love is some slightly more technical things like different header designs (conditional like BB), different post designs (conditional like BB) and eventually custom post type integration (BB + Pods and Pods Themer Add-On). Also like in this tutorial you are using a demo site from Kadence, which is using those different modules on top of the background image. Also some tutorials how to achieve those small, cool effects from the demo websites.

Tried Gutenberg, and it's very promising, Adam. 3 main concerns right now:
#1 - Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't have the kind of theme builder that Elementor has with conditions, where you can specify where a block/template should or should not be placed (in which pages, steps, custom post types, etc.
#2 - Dynamic Content + CPT is lacking (but I saw your comment down below that they're planning to roll it out).
#3 - The editor is very unintuitive. If you place a block (like a paragraph) and forget about it, it's very difficult to see it. Gutenberg editor really needs to have markers and a navigator like Elementor to 1) easily click where you want to click and 2) not end up with empty blocks that you can't see.

It actually is. Even building e-commerce with code would be easier. I tried to build e-commerce with WooCommerce and Next.js, but the complexity of connecting these things up overwhelmed me. World would be so much better if people didn't want to rely that much on Wordpress, or if it actually never came to existence.

    Thank you Adam,
Why is it that whenever I upload Woocommerce first, then a starter site, I end up with two of every shop page.
I already had Woocommerce installed and active, I uploaded a Kadence starter site (but it happens with Astra, as well) I now have two cart pages, two checkout pages, two My Account pages, two of the shop pages. I'm not sure which of the two I can delete without destroying the work I already put into the site. It seems the starter importers don't bother checking or don't care about already existing pages. At the very least they should trash an existing page before creating the new one.

Maybe Great for simple sites, but more complex pages with dynamic content and advance functionality...you still need to know at least basics of php, jscrip working with sql and some better buolder, although Guttenberg is becoming stronger and stronger with every update. Biggest upside of Guttenberg is page speed ranking, especially on Mobile devices...nice video though:)

The WordPress block builder produces html that more optimized, less DOM. In addition to that, Elementor loads a bunch of code libraries that are not needed, making the pages heavier.

    Well, I have some questions,
    1. Can we use animations like elementor (appearing animations and scroll animations)
    2. How can we work with dynamic content with the Gutenberg ?
    3. I think we can achieve core web vitals with a page builder and whole bunch of other plugins with a normal host. (I am in the green area with nearly 10 plugins including elementor with NAMECHEAP hosting ) What is your ideas about this?

    • @heavylowsounds8106
      @heavylowsounds8106 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1. So many possibilities with Gutenberg with this subject (especially on entrance animations, no idea about scroll animations). There's a plugin called Block Animations that you can combine with any block plugin ot there. Or you can use Getwid or Editorplus instead. Both have built-in animations.
      2. You can use Toolset for dynamic content or GenerateBlocks Pro. But I haven't try that and don't have any site that needs specific function for that right now. I just use reusable blocks for building template or use post duplicator. IMO it's also easier for clients to edit visually.
      3. Totally agree. I also use a page builder on some occasions. But for most standard sites, I guess Gutenberg is great option to get a fast & good looking site without draining your savings. Just be creative on how to use it.

    • @joukenienhuis6888
      @joukenienhuis6888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As I understand his video that it is not like Elementor and adds it’s own blocks when you insert a new element like an infobox. With this block editor, you need to add a block or a column first to put an infobox in. The block or column then acts as a container over which you have more control.

One thing I haven’t figured out when using Gutenberg-only is how to display posts with specific criteria. With Elementor templates this is easy but Kadence wants you to setup a single blog page or use a posts widget on a regular page with very limited criteria.

Well you don't get the following:
      - Mobile responsive options (this is HUGE)
      - Copy/paste styles (this is important when designing layouts)
      - Globally linked colors (but this may come in 2022)
      - Useful blocks that are certainly needed for all websites (forms block, advanced heading block, accordion block, tabs block, shape dividers, rows with margin/padding options)
I could go on, but you get the idea ;-)

Did you know that with Gutenberg you can do a simple copy/paste across websites? Side note, Kadence is releasing Kadence Cloud in 60 days or so, it allows you to setup your own private cloud of page and section templates. You can push and pull them from all of your websites.

@@WPCrafter Awesome. I did not know Kadence Cloud was in the works, but good to know (hope it's included in my lifetime deal). Also didn't know (or forgot) about the Gutengerg copy/paste across websites. I expect I'll probably set up a "starter site" anyway to spin up for new sites and have it configured like I want. All good to know, though. Thanks.

@@kevinroberts3789 Yes cloud is going to be included for all members, and there will be a price increase/ plans restructuring when it launches, but your lifetime membership gets it all ;-). That was a great deal huh, but it will only get better.

Hi I'm using a free WordPress theme for commercial purpose/for a company. Is it legal to remove footer credit and replace it with our own one? I went through their support forum and I found a similar question. They have replied to it as follows " the idea is user should not remove any attribution note to suppoort our hardwork. Unless he purchasses the PRO version"

It's just a footer item like any footer item. Go into the footer builder and you will see it.

You said about some local newsletter plugin in your video not too old. I just can't find that part where you said the name of it. Could you please tell me? Local Newsletter plugin instead of convertkit or MailChimp or any other.

Hey Adam, Ok, I've spent 8 hours, and still am stuck in the same place I've been stuck like 20 plus times over the past year. What am I missing?? I am doing great w Kadence and love it, but then when I go to put in my logo and site title stuff under customize, it never is there when I hit preview from the Edit page button on the same wptoolbar where I get into the theme. I am at a complete loss, and feeling really dumb and frustrated. Seems once I add the theme everything's wonky so I was trying just to use the theme, but have to go back to WP to do the logo and title, etc. SO confused, and have been for a while - it's like there's ONE click box I don't know about?? :) Can you help me please? Graciously thanking you in advance...:)

Who is your host? Are you using some aggressive caching or performance plugin? Those can/will cause things like that.

the business plan required to use plugins is so expensive, is it possible to build without plugins?
