My wife and I had an argument that the remote on her 2019 Santa Fe was intermittently working. I told her that the battery needed to be replaced, but she insisted that we needed to buy a whole new remote. (about $150) I told her that we didn't need to do that, but she kept persisting. I showed her this video and guess what? She watched me replace the battery and the remote works perfectly. Finally she believes in me.

Thank you, thank you. This is why I love TH-cam. The dealer was telling me that for a full replacement and reprogramming I was looking at 800 plus taxes. Had no idea I could open it up so easily and replace the battery for 3 bucks, sheesh!

@@TheCarKeyMan Hi. Everytime I lock my SantaFe, after maybe 3-5 mins, the alarm goes off. Do you know what are the possible reasons causing it?
@@user-mj8zf4qq7u Its probably the hood sensor. Make sure the hood is closed all the way. If it is, unplug it and see if the alarm goes off again.

Super helpful thank you. I was actually on my way to the dealership for a recall and my fob stopped working. I was just gonna ask them when I got there (using my backup fob) and decided to google it first. Your video was simple and easy to follow. Cost me $3 for the battery and only minutes to do. I’m sure the dealer would have charged an arm and a leg

just changed out my battery. instructions were spot on... especially the “big screwdriver” part. fill that gap... wait for the “crack” and take your time opening the rest

Thanks so much for your brilliant video! Need to change the battery in the key fob for my 2017 Santa Fe but was scared of damaging it as I couldn't see how to get the case open. The instruction book for my vehicle just gave the number for the battery, then said change it out yourself or take it to dealer. That was helpful. From past experience getting the dealership to do anything costs upwards of $100. I've ordered the batteries from Amazon - Duracell 4 in a package for $7 - and you've saved me the dealer's fee! Love to you, mate, from a Texas woman!

2016 Santa Fe, thank you so much! Saved me ALOT of money! I cracked a small piece off in that area u pointed out where previous owner did by twisting the driver to the RIGHT instead of twisting to the LEFT like you told us to😆other than that everything works now and it’s 👍🏻!Thanks man!

I just changed my battery out because it was working and sometimes it wasn’t I had to keep clicking in order for it to work luckily I had a 2032 battery lying around because my soundbar remotes take the same battery, thank you for showing me how to open my key fog 🤓

Thank you! My key fobs began to slowly stop working when I had an oil leak. It was leaking into the exhaust and maybe some other areas. One day, the smell of oil was really bad and it wouldn't allow me to start my car. It said it couldn't detect my key fob, though I had both of them. I recently got the major oil issue taken care of, however, last night, it couldn't detect my key fob to allow me to unlock and lock my car door, though it did start up. Any advice?
Hi Andrea, I'm not sure an oil leak would cause a problem like this. Have you tried a new key battery?
