this was really cool to watch the whole moving in process, I was just visited the campus and absolutely loved it. I’m still in 11 grade and I’m so looking forward to going to UBC😌. btw love you’re videos🥰💗
right!! She's a little camera shy so not likely haha! But definitely gonna be getting some UBC content through her experiences as well!! thank you for watching
i honestly thought this was gonna be another annoying white girl dorm move in, which i was totally prepared for, but this is actually funny as hell. i love your humor :)
Congrats! Could you tell me how the process went for you and what UBC is looking for? I'm planning on attending next year and I could use the help! I'm from America btw
Emmy Akame Hey Emmy, thanks for reaching out!! Good luck with the whole process I hope you get in! I’m also an international student as I do live in BC but I’m a british citizen so my experience may be similar to you in that regard. I applied for science at the end of November in time for the early decision just because I wanted to get it done early, however for international (and I’m guessing American) students the deadline to be considered for the international entrance scholarships is January 15 so be aware that you may have more time to finish your application and still be considered for a scholarship. The application entailed the personal profile which had 3 questions and a work experience section where you had to describe 5 different work experiences you’ve had. After completing the app in novemeber I then didn’t hear back until mid April time so it was a longgg and painful wait but getting that email was soo worth the wait. So know that you still have every chance to get in even if it feels like forever :)). That’s a quick recap of my experience if you have any more questions I’d be happy to answer them you can dm me on insta @elizabeth.a.__ (that’s 2 underscores) also some youtubers I’ve found really helpful are: Lina ofc😂, Manny Li, Maddy A and itsyvonne
@@kpoptimes5826 Ahh oh my gosh thank you so much for that detailed response! I will totally dm on Insta and I'd love to talk more about this! I believe it's actually the same here for the early decision being in November, so I really want to make sure I'm able to get in ^^' I want to study Psychology, so would that fall under the science major category? Or like Liberal Arts? We can continue there! Mine is gingersnap_attacc btw
Tus videos me inspiran para el 2022 aplicar a la UBC, a tu papá así hable ingles se le notá el acento colombiano jajaja muy bacano todo! Saludos desde Cali.
I’m thinking of applying to UBC, (from the states). How great is UBC/easy to get around? I’ve been on tours, but a college students life’s’ perspective would be great
UBC is great! The lectures are amazing and it's a beautiful campus, but it is very large. A lot of people bike or skateboard to get to class. If you do decide to come here I would suggest referring to a campus map when choosing your courses and planning your schedule because you only have 10 minutes to get to your next class if you have one right after the other. Hope this helped :)
Hiii!! like Alyssa said UBC is seriously amazing! I have some week in my life videos that might give you a better idea of what student life is like :) Campus is definitely pretty big, but you can create your own schedule so you don't have back to back classes, or for the most part most classes within the same program tend to be in a pretty similar area so you won't have to take a trek.
Heyy Lina, love your UBC videos!! I was wondering what floor your sister is/was living on bc I'm a first year who's gonna live in Orchard too so I was wondering what view you have from which floor bc I'm not sure if my floor is high enough to see the mountains and the ocean 😅
Do you get to choose which residence (Totem, Vanier or Orchard) you want to live in? Since most rooms are singles and would have to use a communal showers, do they at least provide a sink and a toilet in your room because imagine in the middle of the night walking outside your room just to pee 😂
you get to say which would be your first choice, second choice, etc. But at the end of the day it's kind of like a lottery from then on - you won't necessarily get your first choice. There's no sink and toilet in your room if you just get a single - you just have the communal washroom!
I don't live on residence so probably won't be out partying on Wednesday nights + I have early morning class the next day!! but hope you have tons of fun!
My parents want me to come here so bad but I wanna go to university in another country bc I already live here =_= so I want to try something new! Except my dad came here. AND if I come here I wouldn’t get a dorm cuz my dad has an apartment he got years ago downtown :( no roommate.
It's a really great university! I also live in Vancouver and honestly I still loved it and didn't feel the need to go to a different country! You get to meet people from all over! As for the dorm... honestly, I wasn't in residences in my first year and it was mostly fine, there's this thing called Collegia for first year commuter students (which is what you'd be doing from downtown Van), that is basically like a residence lounge where a bunch of first year commuter students hang out and make friends! And trust me... I've heard so many roommate horror stories, so it's not a bad thing to not have one!
Lina Lecompte , thx for replying! You are also form Vancouver and your parents still got you a dorm? My parents wouldn’t let me even though I don’t have any siblings or anything so it would be nice to have a roommate :)
Hey Lina just saw ur Colombian!!! I’m Mexican from the US and been loving UBC but I don’t know how that jump in moving to Canada would be. How is the demographic like?
Hi! Vancouver is super diverse! There's a fair amount of Latino people on campus, I think there's even a couple of Latino clubs on campus. There's the Mexican Student Association too, so you'd be able to meet other Mexican people!
Hey Lina! I know that this is a bit of a stretch, but I’m applying to UBC in Vancouver for the 2020 summer session. I’m currently working on my personal profile and was wondering if you could please read it over! I don’t have many people in my life, and I really want to go to UBC for a fresh start and so I can focus fully on getting my degree!
Hii!! I used to do this a while back and I got flooded with people's personal profiles, and it honestly became super overwhelming to look through everyone's work... so I've stopped doing that since then and had to turn a few people down. So sorry!! But I feel like if I take yours it wouldn't be fair to the other people I turned down. But if you haven't already seen my application tips video, I have tons of tips for your personal profile over there - and I'm sure if you ask some of your teachers to proof read for you they could give you some pointers!
Not too late! Applications just haven't opened yet, they should open sometime in September. This link will be helpful to you: you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/dates-deadlines/
