Hope everyone enjoys this nearly 1 Hour look into the history of Super Mario World any%!
Edit: Thank you so much for getting this past a quarter of a million views! I expected this to get a few views, but not this many. I appreciate everyone that has stuck with me. Since this I've made a few more big video projects, and I'm constantly going to try and one up myself. This is a great year and you all are making it happen
YES!!
I watch you when summoning salt hasn’t uploaded, banger video
also 22:38 isnt supposed to say yaposon
Yo, you should pin your comment. :)

Storster while making video: the quest for sub one hour
The original audio was 73 minutes, so pretty accurate.

It’s impressive, yes, but speedruns like this are kinda ridiculous imo.
2075 i beat the game in 1 sec how well i did the wrong warp skip skip skip+ skip+ skip AND 5 COntrellers
Have to break some eggs to make an omelet.
Lol it feels weird clicking on a video like this one and *Home - We're Finally Landing* is not playing.
Yeah, it's super weird how those Summoning Salt clones just spawned. Makes me kinda pissed off tbh, like what happened to primitive technology
@@joaopedroalmeidacaetano1619 I guess summoning salt owns the concept of making videos about speedrunning now.
@@arandomguy4463 i guess being original is hard
@@joaopedroalmeidacaetano1619 didn't he specifically invite people to use his format for the games they knew about? Or would you rather a video like this be done by someone with no knowledge of the speedrun in question

Mom: Go sleep, it’s past your bedtime.
Sethbling: Can you give me a minute?
Mom: *NO*
Mom: Okay, *exactly* one minute.
Sethbling: Watch this.
@@__Obscure__ FURiOUS: Watch THIS
Watch someone's gonna find a way to skip the "Nintendo presents" scene to the credits with 20 multi-taps.
yea daisy chain those multi-taps until they rip thru space-time boi!
Someone actually found how to beat Paper Mario by inputting ACE in Zelda Ocarina of Time first, then switching cartridges. The kind of stuff you hear in elementary school but real. It's on TH-cam.
@@Pokarface7 that sounds exactly like some monkey bars gossip circa 4th grade
what a joke right? LOL
@@D-DUBZTHE-BOSS-Lmao'd
Ten years from now someone will turn on SMW, press start and roll the credits with 8 controllers in hand.
LOL like they did to SMB 3?
Is incredible how people find glitches that useful for speedrunning.
most glitches i find are ones that softlock me after i have not saved for 4 hours
@@LBoomsky Big OOF
There are a lot of glitches, but only some help.
*cough cough* sm64 *cough cough*
Like the one in the 50 years of kids coding google doodle? *dabs in glitch finding*
I like how in the middle of the Cloud Era chapter you describe the runner's tricks and mistakes, whereas Summoning Salt for example doesn't voice over these parts (because it probably fits the mood better and give more feels/chills). You have a different style, but still excellent!
I am definitely very inspired by many creators, but I try not to copy their exact style or "vibe'. Thanks for noticing :)
summoning salt is a stupid mumbler
@@LMTR14 elaborate?
i really like this better, nummoning salt are going over to much info to fit his "grandiose mood".
@@bN_isheeere That's an interesting view on it you got there, never saw it that way.
11 exit runs are definite proof of skill and game mechanics knowledge
0 exit runs are definite proof of skill and game program knowledge
Both are super cool
When you said that the video quality was poor, I was reminded of how weird speed running is. There's a lot of stories that involve things like games being recorded by pointing a shoddy camera at your screen with everything being just barely visible, and today they're almost all restricted to speed running history docs.
Sethbling, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
I don't seem to remember ever watching his channel. ;)
Lmao I thought I missed something. Had gone through most of the video without hearing him and holy shit did he make a lil bit of history.
I miss his MC vids

Almost there now
It's TH-cam's algorithm. I'm only just now finding this because the algorithm sucks.
the algorithm is reaching sonic fans now, lesssgoooo
i remember 6 years ago i watched seth do the first credits warp live. its the only big speedrunning moment that i have watched live but it was crazy
I just came to the comments to see this. I was one of the kids who was like ok but now do it with armor stands
Got recommended this out of nowhere, such an entertaining and enjoyable story telling, almost an hour video but feel way shorter with how good it was.
Thanks for the kind words!

I love watching a TAS and human run of the same level. The TAS is so crazy because you compare it to what’s possible as a human then there strategy and tactics behind it, and the human run makes you appreciate the runner’s reflexes and quick thinking. Both are just so wonderful together
17:53 In the subtitle onscreen it is explained that Yaposon went for door 7 because they didn’t have a flower in their inventory.
As a Brazilian, I feel so proud that Furious is so important to SMW Speedrun. You don't always see an Brazilian Runner as a World Record Contestor

when I heard "U.N Owen was her?" I felt that.
And when I saw "early internet history" I instantly understood
i had knockback
If we talkin’ bout 2000’s internet, U.N. just NEEDS to be part of it. It’s basically the 2000’s internet hymn, lol
When i heard "U.N Owen was her?" I Mcloved it
Touhou 6 speedrun when
I can't believe I'm watching a video from someone with 830 subscribers. That research, investment and overall quality is really impressive. Hoping you get in people's recommended feeds, keep producing stuff and you'll surely become a big name in the Speedrunning History game.
It’s been a month and he already has over 5k his growth is crazy and well deserved I’m here for the long run with this guy
Copy Salt, get subs. Profit.
35,900 after 3 years
I love that in speedrunning, when a glitch is discovered, it's not just finding a glitch, it's starting a new era
Eventually, through a complex setup of multitaps, many controllers, a particular third party composite cable with a short in it, and by placing the cartridge in just the right position, the game can now be beaten by powering on the console and immediately jumping to credits - thus the quest ended for the first negative time SMW speedrun.
we dub it the "sub-zero speedrun" : ^)
Almost 3 years later and furious still reigns supreme with that record
The speedrunning world is incredible.
Great documentary!
Damn, never knew Carl ran Credits Warp. Cool!
How do you only have 860 subs!?!??!? That should be illegal with the amount of content you make!!!
my god, from 10 hours down to 41 seconds. I know it's not the same category, but that is insane.
Now we just need retro game mechanics explained to analyze the crazy game breaking ACE that gets these sub minute speed run times, like he did with the Mario 3 speedrun explained!
Sethbling:
Started as a redstone and command engineer in minecraft
Ended as a talented mario speedrunner
Usually I pause and do something else in these long wr speedrun history videos, but this one kept me interested and engaged throughout. Incredible commentary and great pacing. Amazingly done
This video just got recommended to me this evening after watching probably thousands of hours of eight and sixteen-bit era Mario runs and hacks on TH-cam. Not sure why TH-cam waited so long to introduce us, but I'm glad I've found you.
Bloody good video! Now take this comment for the algorithm, as well as my subscription!
*I very much appreciate the SMW remix of U.N. Owen Was Her.*

I'm very offended at the depiction of 2004 internet with the AOL footage lmao
Great documentary.
36:33 Love how the SM64 file select theme is standard for technique explanations
54:42 Quick video recap
Glad to have been recommended this video and channel. The algorithm does things right from time to time. Keep doing what you're doing.
this vid is do relaxing that i keep falling asleep to it, so i keep coming back to it every day
great video, everything is spot on - narrating, scripting, edition. well done.
Yesterday there were videos posted by Retro Game Mechanics Explained and Bismuth about using the cloud in the 11 exit run. It's a joy to watch this and learn more of the history. Thanks!
Imagine Seth or Furious going back in time to when the game was released and beating it over and over again like their recent runs on a kid who just got the game’s SNES
This video was soooo good. Love seeing these speedrun progressions. Thank you for making this.
This is so amazing, I have no idea how you do it! I can't wait to see how far your youtube channel goes!!!
Thanks harpy!
Great video, extremely well researched and comprehensive.
That can only imagine how much work this took for you to research, put together, voice, and edit this video.
I wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed it
Furious is incredible. Man, his records are INSANE
I high key watched half of this thinking it was one of those 3m+ videos by one of those guys who makes a living doing this. Sheesh dude, I'm subbing for sure and I'm going to share this thing like crazy. It's so good!
U are criminally underapreciated... u need at least 1 mil subs for that kind of dedication and research... great job
And then I forget to sub... I should be ashamed
Haha wow!! I was just wishing for a video just like this a few weeks back! awesome video man, keep it up
In Super Mario World, the in-game timer decreases by one every 41 frames (0.68 seconds) in the NTSC version, or 35 frames (0.70 seconds) in the PAL version.
This is bringing back memories.... 20 years ago I beat every level of this game (except star road) in 3 hours. An eternity compared to these folks, but exhilaratingly fast for me. Such a joy to watch. 🌟🍍
I love finding a channel like this before it blows up
Truly amazing recap. Thank you for that .
I wasn't expecting a full World Record History video, but was super pleased when I found out it was! Awesome video.
Great analysis! Thanks for uploading!
Great video! I’m happy I found this I’ll have to see what else you make
Excellent quality. Great video bro👍🏽

Storster: We would be here for an hour if I thoroughly analyzed every world record.

Really good stuff here! You earned yourself a sub :D
Woah, did not expect to see my man CarlSagan42 in this video! Hope we can see Yoshi's Island WR progression soon! Keep up the amazing work!
WAIT THIS WAS AN HOUR LONG WTF
I swear this felt like a 10 minute video holy shit
Very very great video even though I lived through all of those eras it was a nice recap and I still heard some new things that I didn't know (for example that CarlSagan42 had a tied wr once haha)
Great video hope this blows up :)
i started gettiing into mario with SMM and SMM2 and watching this i was getting giddy and emotional at the progress from sub 5min and below and to hear carlsagan42 and pangeapanga made me so happy! i've been watching them for a while now! this needs to be in the history books tbh heh
This is very interesting! I am not very familiar with this speedrun so I enjoyed this video throughly
39:02 What's most amazing about Sethbling's run is that he did it with no armor stands.
This is literally documentary quality. Highly educational and enjoyable. I hope you get more subs friend :)
Awesome work and great content.
Amazing work!
The person who discovered the method is amazing, and the play of the person who holds the world record is amazing, too.
This is a great video, thanks for the good content
Great video! Your voice is actually really nice to listen to and not annoying like other channels lol
Very nice video! Wish you more views & subs. Amazing work!
