- Over the years, Kirby Super Star still has a community dedicated to exploring, routing, and trying to speedrun the game as fast as possible. A lot of people who have run the Kirby series enough have debated that this particular title may in fact be the most difficult of them all, with it notoriously being very RNG heavy and fast paced. Let's dive into the current fastest ever completion (Any%), and analyze why this run is as challenging as people say it is.

KSS truly is a technical tour de force. It's up there with Super Metroid, Mario 64, you name it. I've loved following this game over the years watching great runners like 0xwas, usedpizza, and a ton more. Yotta is absolute GOAT material. Happy to see you shine some light on it!
It really is. It's unfortunate it doesn't have as large of a speedrun community as those games do but that's part of the charm.
@@nippo4512True, i'd still call it one of the more popular speedgames, or at least it was back in the SRL days. Hell, i threw up a sub 2hr hundo run quite a few years ago, even bought a J cart before the SD2SNES could run it lol. I love the movement so much. This game is just a blast!

The biggest surprise for me is discovering that Kirby in KSS has a 1/8 chance to drop his ability when taking damage, when I play it it feels like 90%

Lava, Gordos, angry Scarfies, and probably a few other things actually do have a higher chance at popping your ability.
I thought i knew the most about KSS speedrunning, but there are so many tiny optimisations in this run I wasn't aware of at all. Great Video. Proofs again what kind amazing gamers Yotta and other top runners are!

Kirby Super Star is such a great game and it's awesome there are people still running it. I always found the movement in the original so... distinct. I just like it the best. I'm so fascinated by folks playing it this sharply also. I enjoy the speedruns and LOVED the 4 player race they did at Games Done Quick that one year. Anyway, FANTASTIC video!!! Thanks so much!
Super Star Ultra is one of my favorite childhood games, and I'd casually "speedrun" it as a kid. Excited to watch this!
It's kind of wild how many boss kill strategies are so similar to what I did as a kid!
I like how logical some of the things that made everything faster were, like going on top of elevators.

Wheel's probably my favorite copy ability, and its helper form probably my favorite helper to use in Super Star (more so in Ultra as that's the version I played but alas). Nice to see both used well here. At least in GCO.
Also, when you play in co-op it is insanely OP, as the stars that Kirby shoots do massive damage lol

Cool to see videos about Kirby speedruns! I have no KSS experience but I do have plenty of experience with KSSU speedruns (Even though I'm like not that great at it). I feel like I don't often see content about it compared to others. But yeah it being dominated by Wheel and Jet doesn't particularly surprise me.

Got Kirby Super Star for my 4th birthday as the first game that was explicitly mine. It's still my favorite Kirby game, although I still need to conquer the original game's Arena some day.
Yeah speedrunners are great, but with Storster the real treat is watching her exposition and presentation in these videos get better over time.

I love the original kirbys dreamland on GB, i have speedrunned it for fun, my PB is only about 16 minutes.
3:36 Although I started with the original (via Kirby's Dream Collection on Wii), I'm more used to Super Star Ultra now. I'm genuinely surprised that Spring Breeze isn't needed to unlock Milky Way Wishes on SNES. In the DS version, all that's unlocked by default is Spring Breeze and three touchscreen mini-games.
Doing some research, beating Green Greens (not even necessarily all of Spring Breeze) is apparently enough to unlock Gourmet Race, Dyna Blade, and Great Cave Offensive. But the same source also claims that unlocking Milky Way Wishes requires you to "Complete all prior sub-games", so you still have to at least clear Spring Breeze. Not sure if you can skip Gourmet Race on DS.
Point is, I thought the SNES version required you to clear Spring Breeze, Great Cave Offensive, and Revenge of Meta Knight to unlock Milky Way Wishes.

I could have swore you could freely drop powers in this game. I could just be misremembering from Ultra, though. Was it added to the Wii version? I haven't played it on SNES in eons.
You can on the DS. But not on SNES. You only get to make a partner as your way to drop an ability.

I thought there was an SRM or something in Dynablade that lets you beat Milky Way Wishes by warping to a glitched version of Marx... i can't remember, think I saw it in an A+Start video
IIRC, it should not be attempted on real hardware, and is likely banned.
What you're referring to is an old emulator bug. It's due to poor SA-1 emulation, so when the game loads entities under heavy strain it may load the incorrect ones, hence random Nova / Marx fights (the Nova/Marx entity would be loaded instead of a common enemy)

I actually used to think it was a big accomplishment at the time, when I had got a WR in all 4 types of fighting games, street fighter soul caliber, wwe wrestling mma/ufc and boxing, but i don't think it was all that great, but fun doing the runs and nice to achieve, my own personal goals.

I imagine you're young which explains your behavior but anything you feel the need to put in parathesis should be kept to yourself.
It adds nothing.
It's really not awkward. If somebody tells you they are a woman/man, the pronouns follow from that. If somebody is nonbinary or otherwise uses less typical pronouns, then it will be unique enough to solidify in your mind easily. If you find it awkward there is a part of you still considering her as "male" in some way or another. That is the part of you that you must examine and modify.
Telling people their existence is awkward for you is pretty bad form in general too. We don't need to hear that shit all the time.
