Update:
Less than 24 hours after this video was posted, Garen was picked in LEC by Wunder, who was seen reading the ability tooltips at the start of the game as he had no idea what the champion did.
Shortly after that, the Garen Yuumi meta arrived and Garen was seen consistently across all regions for about 2 patches (6 weeks of pro play)
And most recently BDS Adam used Garen in both the playins and swiss stage of the world championships, showing great performances.
We can now definitevely say Garen is NOT the worst champ in LOL pro play.
(Its yorick to anyone wondering.)

I like him too, and he has good skins!
QuakerOats Nothing wrong with having a champion that’s unplayable in competitive. Garen, due is his simple kit and tanky nature, is many people’s first champ to the game. I believe there should be “simple, brainless, but fun” champions in LoL, compared to the recent wave of overloaded designs where every champ has 2 passives, 4 dashes, with abilities that read longer than their bio.

Garen need a rework. his kit is just too simple to counter. He's rely on player making mistakes.
There's a full video explaining why he has never gotten a rework.
Maybe give him Mana? Would open up item choices and allow for a stronger, less binary set of Abilities.

Sigh... The implication was that you would give him Mana but thus rework his Abilities to some degree, allowing for more flexibility and a less binary (and easily counterable) play style.

I think your video is extremely underrated and the work you put in them is incredible. Love your videos and keep up the work.
I find it funny because, as a low elo player, Garen is a pain to me.
He always escapes, he always outtrades or out damages me, even when I go Gnar and I kite him he just comes back with more armor, more health and kills me.
I find it quite curious because it really shows how this type of champs depend a lot on perspective.
He's powerful early but he scales so bad late in the game because he can't even reach you with his Q if you have CC.
Everyone talking about the Garen Yuumi games that happened since this video. But uh, what about Faker's Garen mid at All Stars this year? Does that count?

If they return his damage on the judgment it might help him a little bit the problem with riot is when a old champion gets buffet and players start to complain they nerf just to fast they don't even put mind that if the champion like garen would be buffet the possibility of new future champions would get them out played old champs like garen or other old champs like might just need such buffs on there kits
Why work on old champs if making new ones just brings in more $$?

Huh, this would actually give a huge comical reason for Dante Axe Production to have Garen as his mascot. Also, if the meta were to shift back to Season 1, where anything could be picked along with a support, Garen might see play but only as might.
During Juggernaut update Riot gave Garen more damage, and cut his move speed by 5 they also cut his 'Q' movement speed by 5%.
He literally need the exact opposite.

Garen literally do whatever he wants as long as its 1v1. If he gets fed, CC wont even stop him from steam rolling fights.

ADC- YI - PtA+Sorcery , spell - Exhaust/Ignite+heal, build - dmg + crit
SUP- Garen - Predator+ Demolish,Overgrowth, spell- Exhst+heal build - shiv, IE, ER + armor/mr[depends]

yo Exil in the VCS league finals just yesterday the team called GAM (which was in 2017 World Championship) played Garen bot lane with Yuumi and went 3-0 with it :))
FNC did t his like a month ago.
Right now garen is one of the most broken champions he is either banned or picked in almost every esports game.
Pretty sure it was S1 (not championship) where Garen was picked in one of the tournaments. I remember clearly he started an AD item and Q'd a Cho'gath at lvl 1 for 75% of his health and the casters were just like "Well that's Garen for you". Pretty sure they (the Garen) won that game.

This was in portugal, and as a portuguese player i can tell you there are no "pro scene" in LoL in portugal, very below average teans, so that game wasnt "actualy" pro scene. Portuguese lol tournaments is like bronze 3 if Korean are GMs

as a quinn main i can only kill a garen near the end game because 1k damage per basic attack but jesus christ the struggle to get to that point is real

The only fix he would need in my opinion is to limit the number of conqueror stacks he gets with 1 E, because right now he goes on you, Q then E and bam, 12 conqueror stacks, in around 2sec, with two presses of a button. This is honestly rtarded. I play singed and if i only apply poison, i get 2 stacks of conqueror every 3sec

At least Darius has to get max bleed for it to not suck. Garen's ult actively punishes you for winning if you become the villain.
I hate the passive on the ult more being punished for getting a lead that ends up making you can't fight him or it way to hard doesn't feel fun

Even then you can know just by staying alert if you are the villain or not and play accordingly

You can't call that a rework, it's more like a solidification of the champion skills. I would even call a minor buff. Wich is very fine since Garen is very fun to play as and not so hard to play against. It's a easy champ for new players.

Well, thats because all new champions are so overloaded that pros prefer to play them instead of old champs.
They kind of have too. Yes, there's more room for mistake on the players of many newer Champions, but playing them perfectly like pro Players who make LoL their job is just going to make them consistently better picks with more options and safety.

@@Exil22 I always take proplay with a grain of salt. the guys are good at PLAYING league but kinda bad at understanding it or at least have very obvious extreme bia's and unwillingness to explore past the "established" meta picks. It takes them getting stomped by something obscure multiple times before they acknowledge it like Funnel strats or Hiemer/Fidd bot Sona/Taric bot ect? .Unpopular or semipopular champs like Vi,Leona,Illaoi,Velkoz,Anivia and Zilean ect are lowkey really solid picks but proplayers basically never explore them due to the ever expanding champ pool and time constraints . so making titles like "the worst champ in League of legends" as opposed to "the worst champ in ProPlay" is kinda clickbaity imo.
@@ThingsDontAlways Not exactly true. League is a game of, "Why play A, when I could play B?" Zilean has been played mid plenty in the past, but has fallen out of meta due to meta shifts and better picks. Bjergsen in particular used to play it a lot. The problem is, why play Zilean when you play Azir? Better, more consistent damage, safer laning, engage/disengage ult, he's just a better pick in most cases. That's why pros don't pick up a lot of those unpopular, yet solid picks. There's just simply better things. Garen is only *typically* good in the lowest tiers. It takes someone who mains him 100% to barely get him to high elo and that's more off game knowledge than the champ itself. Riste is an insanely good macro player. Guarantee if he played meta, he would be a lot higher in rank. Garen is just simply worse than so many other champs, in pro and casual.

Well he’s “playable” if your okay with giving up pressure in lane for the entire laning phase assuming your opponent makes no mistakes and accept the fact that you will always be under csed unless you’re far ahead and if you accept the fact that in a perfect world literally every other champion beats garen if both players are playing at the most advanced level of league.
Funny thing is, I carried myself out of bronze and silver just playing Garen 😂 He might not be good in pro play, but in noob ranks he is an easy solution to get out.
