Calculating flight distances within and across time zones is a common need. This clip investigates the arrival and departure times of someone travelling within and across times zones in Australia and Asia, using both 12-hour and 24-hour time. Ideal for applying mathematical concepts to real world situations.

It's an interesting approach to measure time based on longitudes, and every 15° of it means an hour. I mean that's why you then get huge areas have many zones and some have one every 30 or 45 minutes. I'm not saying longitudes shouldn't be used, but maybe the lines should widen up a little bit or smthg. Eh it's very "messed up" to try to measure the time of a spherical body that rotates so fast and causes such discrepancy on daylight. When you think of it, it makes you wanna redefine what time means entirely. But since that's a much more complex solution, the best one remains it's most optimization...oh never mind the poles!

If you go from Melbourne to Dubai which takes 12 hours
      Melbourne 5:30am Monday 15 December
Land at 5:30pm 15 December in Dubai
Time in Dubai is 10:30am which is 7 hours earlier than Melbourne
So I gave you an example
      Melbourne is GMT+11 - 5:30pm
      Dubai is GMT+4 10:30am
      6:30am in GMT
