I just wanted to let you know that I heard about your project to reintroduce the 195 from watching one of KenSurfs videos on You Tube. I had been looking at buying a vintage razor from online but was hesitant to buy something of unknown condition that might cost additional money to overhaul.
When I finished watching KenSurfs video where he mentioned you, the new razors, and set backs you have encountered trying to reintroduce the world to the 195, I immediately went to your website and placed my order for an Aristocrat. It takes me back to my dad shaving with a DE razor for years although I don’t recall the make/model that he used I do recall it was nothing as fancy as an Aristocrat.
After shaving for almost 45 years, 24 while in the military, I NEVER looked forward to shaving. Starting wet shaving recently I truly look forward to the indulgence of taking a few extra minutes to give myself a quality shave with quality products. Looking forward to getting my Aristocrat in my shaving gear arsenal, knowing it will last for years, and continuing my journey down memory lane.

Spoke to Sheldon today because I had an issue with a plate. He took care of it and will go out tomorrow since today is a Canadian Holiday. His customer service is top notch. I have a gold Fatguy on order and I said I don't care about packaging. He takes his packaging seriously as part of the purchase. I don't have a problem waiting longer.

I see the price for a GSC Fatguy is $99. I bought a mint vintage Gillette Slim Adjustable from my birth quarter (Q3 1964) on eBay from a US seller and had it shipped to the UK for less. Vintage Fatboys can go for way less than $99, depending on condition. I appreciate a new clone may have some advantages, but for me, I'd rather buy an original.

Ken, as part of the Amazon Vine program I get to review new items. I tried an Easace razor (from China). It is a solid, heavy/sturdy 3 piece, semi-adjustable by which way you turn the bottom piece. Even with 2 settings, this is for the most part a mild razor. I thought it gives a very good shave. It comes in a gift box, and includes a solid stand, a pack of blades and a brush. It is important to clean one's razor after each use. I have to admit it's easier with a butterfly razor. The ends of the blade don't stick out on the sides. It comes in 3 finishes; I chose the black, and I think it is a good-looking addition to my growing razor collection.

Glad to hear that you have no problems e-mailing Sheldon; apparently his messages to me get hijacked before I get them! I placed an order on the Globa Shave Web site about ten days ago and never heard anything. I finally got around to calling Friday; I was speaking to the man himself within a couple of hours! (He confirmed that they had received my order, shipped it, and had e-mailed this to me. Another Internet mystery.)

Thanks for the Fatguy update. Sheldon has sent email updates about the production and shipping challenges. You may be right about there being a Gillette curse 😉 According to the GSC website, the Fatguy is supposed to be shipped in October. We are almost halfway thru the month. So, I am hoping to see my Chrome Fatguy soon. I look forward to your Wednesday video. I will be interested to get your comparison feedback.

Have always done a bowl lather with any tub of soap other than one occurrence but when I got the Barrister and Mann Hallows soap in I decided to do a face lather and it's working out great. I'm gonna take up to you and others doing more face lathering than the bowl in the future. I've watched clips of Halloween Horrors at Universal in Orlando / So Cal and watched some pretty cool movie mazes like Halloweens, Freddy vs Jason and House of 1000 Corpses.

As always, great vid. I finally ordered the Wilkerson sword blades. Love them. I used them with Arko shave soap, in a parker 96t. Incredibly smooth shave. Amazing how the most least expensive products sometimes perform the best. Stay safe and well out in Cali 👍

Hey, Ken, I agree with Apoorv. Sometimes, for me anyway, a thick lather gets in the way. There’s kind of a sweet spot, and you know it when you achieve it.

I was shopping at Dollar Tree today when I noticed something in the shaving section. It was an actual safety razor for a buck with five blades. I bought it just for the hell of it, and even though it's clearly super cheap when I compare it to my Rockwell R1, it looks like it might actually do the job decent enough. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious if it'll actually work!

I have the Assured butterfly razor from Dollar Tree and it does a good job provided you use quality blades. It's between mild and medium for me. Can't comment on durability but I got another one.

Thanks for the vid Kensurfs I had my fathers fatboy replated in iridium. looks awsome so probably wont get this. For me i have sensative skin and the fat body is super forgiving. But I love the way my mercur future gold gives me feedback. That way I know when to ease up on my sensative neck. different for everyone I guess...p.s. unluike you, i havent shaved my moustache in years, wouldnt even know how to lol

That's some really bummer news about the Fatguy razor. I can't wait to see how it compares to the original Fatboy. I have a Fatboy and figured I would wait for the reviews before dropping that much money on a working replica. I scored one for $60 on eBay, did a little cleaning, and now it's almost NOS. I see razors in that condition going for $300.

That's a cracking price on the Fatguy, I can't understand why Rockwell didn't do this in a part for part replica. Need a comparison between the Fatguy and Model T. Have you seen the Janus razor?

I had also preordered the gold/aristocrat version of the Fatguy. The Fatboy (and toggle) are my favorite vintage razors so far, though I’ve found I prefer the 1958 or early 59 versions. I have 2 D4s, E1, E2, F1, and a D3 executive with a second on the way with the original case (also a D1 toggle). So needless to say, very excited for this razor! Are you going to do a side by side/comparison when it does arrive?

Nice shave Ken💈💈 Can't understand Gillette giving Sheldon a hard time, The original Gillette was never officially called the "Fatboy", it's official, registered name was "The Gillette Adjustable Razor", with 195 representing the price but not part of the registered name. Fatboy was just a nickname given the original by the consumer sometime after the official registered name of "The Gillette "Slim" Adjustable Razor" appeared in 1963/64 differentiating the two. "Fatguy" is totally legit IMO. If I understood the comment correctly?

Harsh assessment. Things happen. We've already waited sixty years, an extra month or two isn't a big deal from where I sit. The deciding factors will be fit & finish, and how it shaves, of course. If GSC nails those points, a few extra months won't matter.

I disagree with your request that the "package" be withheld. As damage to these packages figure prominently in the explanation as to why the razors are late in distribution; it would have been instructive to see the type and level of damage. It would have better substantiated certain claims and reasons why things have or have not progressed. But, as I stated at the onset, just my opinion.
