Exploring Antique & Vintage Show Finds with Top Collectors!

- This is such a great place to see, shop and learn about antiques and vintage! We're at the last Rose City Vintage Market in Portland, Oregon, where style-focused antique decorators, vintage fashion gurus and masters in everything from costume jewelry, Blenko glass and art pottery to novelty clocks and vintage prints are gathered to sell and tell about their favorite treasures!
The show starts with vintage barware, old vending machines and rich antique silver overlay glass as we tour aisles filled with desirable collectibles from all over the west coast. Collectors and dealers travel here from all over the country, and they're bringing their best...and telling us all about it! We talk to the owner of an amazing English carrousel horse, visit with a longtime vintage fashion dealer (yes, the Chinese gown is centuries old) and learn why Yupuk tribal hats are going back to their original tribes!
There's so much to see at this big antique and vintage event, and our eyes are popping as we see the great ideas other vintage dealers have...a vintage fashion booth with a dressing tent, repurposing of kitchen appliances into lamps and crutches into fish sculptures, an MCM style awning that pulls together the space into a cohesive room look...these professional antique and vintage resellers and stylists have a lot to teach us, and some really cool things to sell us as well!
In the process, we do a little show and tell ourselves, showing off everything from Keane prints to Wolfard lamps to antique Czech jewelry and some really cool art pottery we had this summer. George, your displays always look so pretty. Not just clumped together like many others.
Good evening, George. Those silver overlay pieces - pitcher and decanters - were beauties! Each of those would be eye-popping in a complete set. Loved that round vitrine! I'd have it loaded with beverage sets. I liked the yard-long with the chicks. I'd never seen that one. Wow, George, you had a packed space! Do you ever see posters with "Hawai'i", instead of "Hawaii" on them? One with it spelled the way it is supposed to be pronounced would interest me. Those pieces of Czech jewelry were really pretty. I liked the _Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea_ poster. I remember watching that when I was younger, and I always really liked the _Seaview_ submarine. Lots of interesting items there! The prices seemed really good, too, especially for a show. Thanks for taking us on the tour!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a taxidermy of a full body elk. Wondering what they’re asking for that, and what kind of a place you’d have to have to make him look at home. I’m thinking of a castle or manor house somewhere or a rustic mountain lodge.
The Quing dynasty was the final one and the Boxer Rebellion happened during the final years of it to usher in a lot of missionaries going to China until 1949, hence many people brought back Chinese antiques
