Wow! Great in-depth review of the CR-V Marcus! Not sure if I mentioned this before but I love those DriveAndBeDriven numberplates. Also, I do agree that the rear-view camera looks awful lol but I have to say the gear selection area looks clean. They've kept the same design language for the interior but it's now more modern and simple in a way. I like it! More brands should give you cars to check out in detail, you're doing an amazing job. Honda having a hybrid is interesting and the fact that you dealt with all the details that distinguish it was helpful. We had forgotten about the CR-V and how impressive it was so to see that it has a hybrid makes if all the more special . We never tested it so your review will guide us on this one. For sure! Believe it or not, Honda actually beat Toyota in the race to offer the first Hybrid in the United States. But, unlike Toyota, Honda hasn't implemented their Hybrids with AWD until now. So, this vehicle is definitely a HUGE step in the right direction for Honda. Also, I don't blame you! There are so many compact utility vehicles nowadays, sometimes we forget about all of them and what they offer to the table. You guys should definitely try to review one soon. Indeed! Such a vibrant shade of red. I love how this particular color also takes on a multitude of different attributes depending on the lighting scenario. I really like the Honda 2021 CR-V Hybrid. My favorite part is that the back seats have lots of space. I too noticed that recently a lot of these types of cars seemed to have a smaller back row. Over all great review, keep em coming!

I was not aware of the no spare tire on the hybrid models so if you buy a hybrid would be a good idea to buy a spare to keep in the trunk. My non-hybrid model had a tire blow out and I already had to use the spare tire.
Yes! That is definitely something that surprised me. Having a spare tire is always important. But, the Hybrid models do not come equipped with one. Luckily, Honda doesn't leave you completely in the dust because they'll give you a "Fix-A-Flat" kit under floor for emergencies (free of charge). In your case, I would probably invest in a back up spare tire to leave in the trunk, just in case. You can never be too careful! Again, I appreciate you leaving another comment, Andrew! Given the success of the RAV4 Hybrid, it's a smart move from Honda to introduce a hybrid variant of the CR-V. I'm also glad to hear LED headlights are standard in the hybrid, good headlights are must-have for me. Great review as always!

You will not be subject to higher premiums if you have a red car versus a blue, black, white, or even green car. Most of the time, insurers will not even ask for your car's color to process your quote! Crazy... I KNOW!! Hahaha! I appreciate you leaving this comment. That's a GREAT question! Honda actually equips the CR-V Hybrid with a 'fix-a-flat' kit instead of a spare tire. This solution is becoming increasingly more common nowadays... Even though this solution is a bit more temporary, it surely saves a lot on weight. Especially for a vehicle that is more eco-minded. Shaving off a few pounds here and there really helps with fuel economy ratings. Once again, I'm glad that you found this review to be very helpful!!! Hi, Kevin! Yes, the rear seats fold down VERY flat. The transition from the cargo load-floor to the rear seatbacks is virtually flat and offers a "seamless" transition. Honda also provides two mini flip-down ramps to help fill-in/eliminate the gaps when you fold down the rear seats. So, yes. I think you should definitely be able to lay flat in the rear when you go camping with no issues. I am working on the trunk review for the CR-V Hybrid shortly. Stay tuned for that! I love the C-RV mainly because I love the exterior LED lightning, there aren't many compact crossovers that offer both front and rear full LED lightning, the reverse bulbs not being LED is okay because those bulbs could easily be changed out. Same goes for the interior light bulbs, but on an almost 40k vehicle and a hybrid vehicle you would think they would make all the bulbs LED to make the vehicle as efficient as possible. One thing I don't really like about the CR-V is the boring interior color choices, they have some very nice exterior color options, but they are lacking like a dark brown interior and a caramel color interior, the interior choices they currently offer besides the black interior are too light for my taste, the beige interior almost looks white, and the gray interior is blah. You forgot to mention that the CR-V had a heated steering wheel! My neighbors got one in a nice blue color, I have to say it looks really sharp and upscale on the exterior especially with all the chrome accents.
Same here! One of the compelling aspects of the CR-V is definitely the nearly full-LED exterior lighting (which is definitely not too common amongst vehicles within this class surprisingly)... Especially on lower-end trims levels. Regarding the reverse lights and cabin lights, you're absolutely correct. It's not too big of a deal since they can easily be swapped out for LEDs without voiding any type of warranty (generally speaking). Also, agreed! For nearly $40k, I was definitely expecting a bit more as far as the interior lighting goes. There aren't even ambient lighting strips (which is also increasing becoming the norm in this price range)... As far as the interior colors goes, they are definitely a bit on the bland side. It would've been nice to see more unique shades of brown or even intricate contrast stitching (once again, something other competitors offer in this price range). The exterior colors are defitinely spot-on though!! Especially this glorious "Radiant Red" paint job. 🤩 Yes! You're correct. I forgot to mention the heated steering wheel. Good catch! 👍🏼 The exterior definitely boasts a very upscale ambiance thanks to the chrome elements and the cool exterior colors. Hey, JR!! That's awesome! How have you been enjoying your Tiguan so far? That's great that your crossover comes with LED front and rear lighting. Most brands reserve that for their fully-specced models (if at all). Regarding the interior colors, I don't believe Ford offers a brown in the Escape. I tested a 2021 model a few weeks ago, and if memory serves me correctly, it only came in black or beige leather. Also, the Subaru Forester definitely offers a rich medium brown interior color. 🤩 There are a couple more models that I can name a couple off the top of my head that offer brownish/caramel layouts: Mazda offers a dark brown on the CX-5 and the Chevy Equinox offers an interesting two-tone black with brown layout. It's not too common, but definitely applauded when done because of how "unconventional" it is. Thanks for leaving your comments, JR! I truly appreciate it. @@DriveAndBeDriven hi Marcus! I love my Tiguan! It’s hard to beat imo. I drove all the competitors and I didn’t want a CVT. I should be more clear. My Tiguan SE has LED daytime running lights, the headlights are only Halogen... blah. But they work well enough. The tail lights are full LED and they are gorgeous.... Reverse lights also. And they blink with that definitive on & off that’s unlike cars of the past where there is a slight fade in and fade out.

Wow! Great in-depth review of the CR-V Marcus! Not sure if I mentioned this before but I love those DriveAndBeDriven numberplates. Also, I do agree that the rear-view camera looks awful lol but I have to say the gear selection area looks clean. They've kept the same design language for the interior but it's now more modern and simple in a way. I like it! More brands should give you cars to check out in detail, you're doing an amazing job. Regarding the rear-view camera... Well... 😅 Yep! It definitely seems rather outdated. Especially in a nearly $40k car. Luckily, Honda put some excellent thought in the gear selector layout. I agree! It's very clean and super intuitive, and much more modern feeling (minus the touchscreen/reverse camera setup 😬). Hopefully, more brands loan me cars! That would be awesome!!! Honda having a hybrid is interesting and the fact that you dealt with all the details that distinguish it was helpful. We had forgotten about the CR-V and how impressive it was so to see that it has a hybrid makes if all the more special . We never tested it so your review will guide us on this one. For sure! Believe it or not, Honda actually beat Toyota in the race to offer the first Hybrid in the United States. But, unlike Toyota, Honda hasn't implemented their Hybrids with AWD until now. So, this vehicle is definitely a HUGE step in the right direction for Honda.

Indeed! Such a vibrant shade of red. I love how this particular color also takes on a multitude of different attributes depending on the lighting scenario. At night, the color seems to morph to a glorious cherry red shade. I'm glad Honda introduced this new "Radiant Red" paint job for the 5th-gen CR-V. 💯🔥🍒

I really like the Honda 2021 CR-V Hybrid. My favorite part is that the back seats have lots of space. I too noticed that recently a lot of these types of cars seemed to have a smaller back row. Over all great review, keep em coming!
Same here, Julian! As a complete package, I totally dig the CR-V Hybrid. My favorite part definitely has to be the spacious back seat, too. Also, I love the standard LED exterior lighting features on the Hybrid models... Definitely a neat little touch if you ask me.

I was not aware of the no spare tire on the hybrid models so if you buy a hybrid would be a good idea to buy a spare to keep in the trunk. My non-hybrid model had a tire blow out and I already had to use the spare tire.
Yes! That is definitely something that surprised me. Having a spare tire is always important. But, the Hybrid models do not come equipped with one.
Luckily, Honda doesn't leave you completely in the dust because they'll give you a "Fix-A-Flat" kit under floor for emergencies (free of charge). In your case, I would probably invest in a back up spare tire to leave in the trunk, just in case. You can never be too careful!

Given the success of the RAV4 Hybrid, it's a smart move from Honda to introduce a hybrid variant of the CR-V. I'm also glad to hear LED headlights are standard in the hybrid, good headlights are must-have for me. Great review as always!
Agreed! The CR-V Hybrid should definitely be a hit. Especially since the RAV4 Hybrid has been performing quite well. You will not be subject to higher premiums if you have a red car versus a blue, black, white, or even green car. Most of the time, insurers will not even ask for your car's color to process your quote! Crazy... I KNOW!! Hahaha! I appreciate you leaving this comment. That's a GREAT question! Honda actually equips the CR-V Hybrid with a 'fix-a-flat' kit instead of a spare tire. This solution is becoming increasingly more common nowadays... Even though this solution is a bit more temporary, it surely saves a lot on weight. Especially for a vehicle that is more eco-minded. Shaving off a few pounds here and there really helps with fuel economy ratings.

Does the backseat lay flat enough for me to lay down? I would like to sleep there when I go camping.
Hi, Kevin! Yes, the rear seats fold down VERY flat. The transition from the cargo load-floor to the rear seatbacks is virtually flat and offers a "seamless" transition. Honda also provides two mini flip-down ramps to help fill-in/eliminate the gaps when you fold down the rear seats.
So, yes. I think you should definitely be able to lay flat in the rear when you go camping with no issues. I am working on the trunk review for the CR-V Hybrid shortly. Stay tuned for that!

I love the C-RV mainly because I love the exterior LED lightning, there aren't many compact crossovers that offer both front and rear full LED lightning, the reverse bulbs not being LED is okay because those bulbs could easily be changed out. Same goes for the interior light bulbs, but on an almost 40k vehicle and a hybrid vehicle you would think they would make all the bulbs LED to make the vehicle as efficient as possible. One thing I don't really like about the CR-V is the boring interior color choices, they have some very nice exterior color options, but they are lacking like a dark brown interior and a caramel color interior, the interior choices they currently offer besides the black interior are too light for my taste, the beige interior almost looks white, and the gray interior is blah. You forgot to mention that the CR-V had a heated steering wheel! My neighbors got one in a nice blue color, I have to say it looks really sharp and upscale on the exterior especially with all the chrome accents.

Same here! One of the compelling aspects of the CR-V is definitely the nearly full-LED exterior lighting (which is definitely not too common amongst vehicles within this class surprisingly)... Especially on lower-end trims levels. Regarding the reverse lights and cabin lights, you're absolutely correct. It's not too big of a deal since they can easily be swapped out for LEDs without voiding any type of warranty (generally speaking).
Also, agreed! For nearly $40k, I was definitely expecting a bit more as far as the interior lighting goes. There aren't even ambient lighting strips (which is also increasing becoming the norm in this price range)...
As far as the interior colors goes, they are definitely a bit on the bland side. It would've been nice to see more unique shades of brown or even intricate contrast stitching (once again, something other competitors offer in this price range). The exterior colors are defitinely spot-on though!! Especially this glorious "Radiant Red" paint job. 🤩

The exterior definitely boasts a very upscale ambiance thanks to the chrome elements and the cool exterior colors. That blue looks vibrant and eye-catching. 👀🌊

Hey, JR!! That's awesome! How have you been enjoying your Tiguan so far? That's great that your crossover comes with LED front and rear lighting. Most brands reserve that for their fully-specced models (if at all).
Regarding the interior colors, I don't believe Ford offers a brown in the Escape. I tested a 2021 model a few weeks ago, and if memory serves me correctly, it only came in black or beige leather. Also, the Subaru Forester definitely offers a rich medium brown interior color. 🤩
There are a couple more models that I can name a couple off the top of my head that offer brownish/caramel layouts: Mazda offers a dark brown on the CX-5 and the Chevy Equinox offers an interesting two-tone black with brown layout.

@@DriveAndBeDriven hi Marcus! I love my Tiguan! It’s hard to beat imo. I drove all the competitors and I didn’t want a CVT. I should be more clear. My Tiguan SE has LED daytime running lights, the headlights are only Halogen... blah. But they work well enough. The tail lights are full LED and they are gorgeous.... Reverse lights also. And they blink with that definitive on & off that’s unlike cars of the past where there is a slight fade in and fade out.

@@DriveAndBeDriven You are so sweet Marcus thank you! There is a story behind the Tiguan purchase. I had a Ford Mustang but it got crashed when a guy hit me in June. I’m okay: car was not. I was able to buy the Tiguan with the settlement and I got it because I have some back problems now and it’s easier to get out of than a sports car with low ride height. But you are a champion!! Please do keep your head up: you have brains and lots of talent and charisma and charm and other things too!! You are appreciated and valued by God and by people like me!! Don’t let yourself ever get defeated!! Stick with eduction and keep positive people around yourself. I’m sure you already know these things.
