Bought one just like this when I was 13 years old. So much fun to ride 😊

Shorts and no gloves… my kind of ride 😁

This was the first non-minibike I learned to ride. My dad traded our '67 Barracuda fastback for this (and $400) from the kid next door. First time I tried to take off on it in the backyard I dumped the clutch, ploughed into a hedge and fell over. Thankfully, it got easier. These bikes have an unmistakable exhaust sound, I think they have a 360 degree crank.

Seems everyone has a story about the old hondas... like they say, you meet the most interesting people on a Honda!

I am actively looking to buy one of these SL175's but they are super hard to find in any condition. I currently have two SL 350's in my collection, a 71 and a 72. Of course want to add a 70 K0 to the dual and an SL 175 to that. OH well, one can dream, Right? Take care of that rare beauty

I'm actually looking for an SL350. Have CBs and CLs, but missing the SL.

My first vehicle was a 71 SL 350 that I bought for $500 in 1974. I was 16 and I did some pretty stupid things on that bike, but I learned a lot and wish I'd hung on to it!

@@RideVINTAGE Have you found an SL350 yet? There have only been just a couple up for sale lately on eBay but were not in the best condition.

@@TheTopdogski You and I are about the same age. I'm 66 so also remember seeing these bikes new. Bought my first one in 81 for 500 dollars too. Didnt have the original mufflers on that one tho.

When I bought the SL it had shorty "mufflers" which were mounted so that they pointed straight down and ended maybe 8 inches from the ground. Whenever I revved the engine, they not only made a ton of noise but also singed whatever was underneath the bike. My dad used to chew me out for making burn spots the grass when I rode around the yard. I eventually bought some proper Honda pipes, the matte black ones that swept up, those looked very cool!
