The problem I have with the SCRAM is they contain a lithium battery. These batteries if defective or exposed to high temperatures can explode. If someone works on an oil or gas rig there is a clear and present danger. Mr. Roadman is correct, the justice system needs to create something safer.
Yes they can explode, there has to be a better way of doing this. Also I have a question for you, how do I know my box is scanning my bracelet at home? The reason I ask is I live 2hrs from where I got charged and now I'm home I have my box plugged into the wall so the battery stays powered an I have the cord connected to my ethernet box to the Scram box, but it keeps switching back and forth to "Network failed retrying connection" an that can remain for a minute or so then it will say "Scram system monitoring" that happens quite frequently but then every now an then the round button will light up red an it will say something like "detecting bracelet" is that how it supposed to work? Also I checked my internet speed and it's excellent so I don't know why it's saying sometimes "Network failed"
Thanks for making this. I definitely feel better about it seeing as how every review I’ve read says it will fail you. Have to do 30 days. Hope it goes well since I DO NOT drink!
I am 4 days into a 40 day sentence with the House Arrest version. It doesn't monitor alcohol or gps just limits my location to the base station. I can't find information anywhere though about the distance from my base station. My case worker doesn't seem to know either. She just recommends front and back porch. The sentence equates to 6 months in jail according to the judge and I don't want to violate by taking the trash to the curb. Any idea where I can find information on this? Thanks.
I've had my cam monitor on for over 6 months and all I have is a misdemeanor unlawful exhibition charge and I have to wear it for eight more months and I'm going back to court and telling the judge to put me in jail because I want off probation this is ridiculous for a misdemeanor
I've had a scram monitor on for a year and it was all about money and it was just another way for the judicial system in my county to proffit from my mistakes
Yeah I know it needs to be named SCAM lol I just got mine on a few days ago have no idea how it works or what the black box is supposed to be saying so I know it's working properly, sometimes it says "Network failed retrying connection" then it will say "Scram system monitoring" an sometimes which is rare the red button will light up and the screen will say "detecting bracelet" is that what it supposed to be doing? Because I live 2hrs from where I have to report an if it doesn't work properly in my home even though I have it hooked to the ehternet an plugged into the wall which is the only way it can be hooked up, so if I can't get it to work in my home I'm not sure what else I can do other than go back to jail or maybe they can give me a portable alcohol monitor if it will let me do what I have to do without internet. For the life of me I don't understand why they don't already have devices that you can pair with your Bluetooth on the phone and a app to sign in an verify you have did things correctly, now house arrest I can understand since your mobility is limited and you'd have a curfew so the box would have to be in the location you're supposed to be at, but just the alcohol monitor itself it should have a pair option with your phone.
I was driving to the beach to commit suicide & ended up w a dwi.. i had to go to a psychiatric hospital for 10 days after… i have major ptsd from this and i was finally correctly diagnosed as bipolar… and since abilify my life has been better but wearing this… I’m not about to. I’m just not. It’s sending me back into depression and major ptsd. The court doesn’t understand this… it’s all bullshit.
Honestly jail sounds better. I wasn’t in crisis due to alcohol. I wasn’t “partying.” I was depressed and wanted to end my life and i wanna do it again now and succeed knowing I’ll have to get a punishment for my suicide attempt. I wish everyday now rn that i just stayed in my apartment and took my pills.
@@heatherprussen5480 it is better. A buddy of mine violated probation and they offered him 3 months in jail and he’d be wiped clean. Other convicts in TV courtroom yelled at him to take it and he said HELL NO. I’ve been wearing a scram for 8 months now and I’d rather be in jail.
Zombie comment on an old video - thanks for making this! I might be an outlier, I'm not court ordered for a SCRAM, heck I've never had a DUI. However, I enjoy watching live streams of Judge Fleischer and was curious about the device.
Good video. I would say accurate as well. I’ve got one on for 23 days. I don’t want to complain but mine is on very tight. Much tighter than yours was. I can barely slide it. I think they made it very uncomfortable in purpose. The corners on the inside of mine are always hurting. But like you said not anywhere near as bad as jail
Charlie, thanks for the video. Was recently put on this device as well as a gps unit at the same time. GPS came with a charger, does this unit require charging?
When you where spinning it around your ankle, was that considered tampering cuz ive been doing that to wash around it an just stop it from rubbing my ankle raw??
You said that you can't see that you were wearing the device. Are all bracelet monitor devices small enough to cover up with straight leg pant? I am a guy and am about to get an ankle monitor, but they would most likely fire me at work if they saw I got one. Can I cover it up easily?
That’s my fear too. Also i have PTSD from this and i literally am freaking out over having this on me. I drank yea but i have been depressed with multiple treatments including electroshock therapy failing. Typically i only if i drink, it’s only once a week. Well i got in my car with my pill bottle and left a suicide note for my family to kill myself at the beach and since hearing the news about this i have been back to square one about my situation since I’m bipolar depression and i have PTSD from being dragged to a pysch hospital for 10 days after my incident. Now i can’t stop thinking about my incident and I’m having ideations because i can’t live this long having ptsd literally shaking and having panic attacks over what i did. I don’t get why “mental health court” doesn’t get this & won’t let me do piss tests instead. Shows they REALLY CARE about the people they’re “helping” 🙄🙄🙄
They just want the money for the scram. It's an awful scam to get money. The only people who seem to get these are people who don't live off of the system and have one incident while drinking. The alcoholic drunks always seem to only get the car interlok system that they always get around anyway.
-If the bracelet is within the required range of the base station for a daily wireless-cellular data upload and there’s a communication failure, are we able to confirm that the bracelet was indeed within range and it won’t count as a violation? Or it will just show as communication failure and count against the wearer’s compliance? -Is obstruction considered an item in between the skin and the silver faceplate only or any part of the plastic surfaces? -Lastly, Will smoking cigarettes cause any false positives? Thank you in advance!
Unfortunately, the only question I know the answer to is about cigarettes. No, cigarettes will not cause a false positive. The other questions should be asked to the company providing the device.
What if u use it in Quarantine and need hand sanitizer? You can't ask every stores to open the bathroom to wash your hands, a lot of them are/were closed.
It sucks and I had a false positive last week haven’t drank in over 2 months and now they are saying I consumed alcohol and it could be from food or somet product I used and now I’m violated on probation smh
I'v had mine 3-1/2 months and I'm 780.00 bucks behind in my payments. They said as long as I pay on it, they will work with me. Ha! only 4-1/2 months to go, at $10 a day.
