Daniel's tense narration sounds like a last minute briefing, but Hooj's style feels like a more informative in-world documentary. I fucking love it Would be cool if they lean more into the different styles and have craft overviews by Hooj, and special missions/tactics briefed by Dan

@@morgan97475 the lesser armor is mostly on the Galactica and she was being converted to a museum ship so it didn’t need its armor. As for the less guns, if you saw Jupiter Mark-II class design in DeadLock, it had less guns when compared the Blood & Chrome design, in my headcanon, I believe that the Galactica and the Jupiter class design in Blood & Chrome are a late war refit and once the war ended, all post war Jupiter-Class class that came after were built with the original MK-II design.
@@morgan97475 The biggest issue for me was the Rube Goldberg fighter storage elevator contraptions. That just more crap to break, and didn't leave room for things like moving them around on the deck. The whole more dakka aspect of the ships is a little easier to live with.

And yeah, less is more - that's what spacedock *IS* y'know: A focused, highly dense and yet detailed piece on my favorite space crafts. Dan always had this slightly more commanding voice hehe. i would have liked if the stats of the craft were actually listed. you know, stuff like size, speed, max load, crew size, passenger complement, weapon count & placement, a list of its systems instead its basically just waffling about with no clear line. visually nice. but the content is lacking severly

I wonder if any pirates or privateers during the interwar years used kitted out 1st Gen raptors? With their firepower I’d certainly believe it. Honestly since BSG is a universe where kitbashed ships (in-universe kitbash at least, with stuff like the Blackbird and the garbage ship that was converted, etc etc) are so popular, a super-raptor combining parts of all three design ages would be pretty feasible to see if we got the chance.
I was actually thinking of a fanfic involving something like that. The story follows some space pirates shortly before and during the first few weeks of the second cylon war. They survive the attack because they were already hiding from the colonial fleet. After the attack, now they're still living as pirates. Raiding the Cylons for supplies and jumping away before a basestar can arrive.
Wish we could of seen more vehicles other than Vipers and Raptors. You'd think they'd have a diverse range of aircraft like heavy bombers or fighter bombers.
I think the problem is, that the producers of newer BSG related content (like Deadlock) are afraid to use ships that aren't related to the ships in the series. So we'll get Raptors and Vipers but nothing new. However, in theory it is possible that other ships existed (a navy with one kind of fighter and one kind of support doesn't really make sense) and they could just use the argument that none of the other ships were in use on the Galactica and Pegasus at that time which would give a reason, why they were not in the TV series.
Deadlock did introduce the Sweeper (anti-missile defence) and Taipan (anti-capital ship fighter in a DLC) for the Colonials. - hoojiwana from Spacedock
@@knickohr01 A big reason why the Colonial mostly uses viper is due to a Battlestar's fighter launch tube. It severely limits the shape of a space craft you can design. Too many different fighter craft and you have problem to rapidly deploy them. Not counting the compatibility requirement for newer battlerstar (Pegasus can still launch old Mk2 vipers). But they do added a new launch tube shape to mag launch raptors on the Mercury (Pegasus) battlestar.

I love the channel and the framing device of having a kind of dry documentarian view of fictional assets... however the new style where there are large sections dedicated to episode synopsis is kind of kills the mood, i've seen many of the shows and if I wanted to re-hash an entire episode or sequence I would look for that but that isnt necessarily what I'm looking for here.
the viper may have been the big hero ship of the shows but the raptor is still respected.... not as glamorous as a viper but it's role is just as important..... think f it like this, the Apache is the fun chopper right? whiloe the blackhawk is a sitting duck when dropping off your passengers, which chopper is more important? both are for different reasons, same for the raptor and viper....

That is what being unsung is. Unsung is not the same as unknown or unseen - it is under appciated. It was the final ship flown by Adana, was used in his Adana maneuver. It’s crew was killed and still fired the pivotal shot over the Cylon colony. But it doesn’t get the respect other ships get in general. You even saw that in the BSG web app.
And here i thought that the Deadlock version and the B&C version were identical. They already had the modern jump capable variant as early as 40 BTF during Operation Raptor Talon and undoubtedly prior to that. Apparently the Colonials saw no need to update the Raptor design for 4 decades...

hmm... there must have been an FTL-capable variant during the First Cylon War, too! At least during the later Deadlock campaigns (from Resurrection on) you could send out Raptor scouts to gather intel on enemy fleets before engaging them.
Yes, I think the Deadlock's variant does have FTL. It's just that they couldn't be used during actual combat. But for scouting mission such as in Resurrection.

The Raptor reminds me of the Hurricane from WW2. The Spitfire may get all the glory, but it was the Hurricane that was the real workhorse of the battle.
A military capable of putting an energy hungry FTL drive in a vehicle the size of a large truck, but can’t seem to grasp the concept of particle beam or plasma weapons.

This was a mistake in the script. The 3d model is a Jupiter Class Battlestar and it was later confirmed that the script was at fault and not the CG. It's rare that happens, normally it's the CG that makes gaffs, but not this time it seems. - Dan

Umm, this is wrong. The assault raptor featured larger engines and a higher acceleration at cost of agility. The basic raptor being highly agile even when pared against the earliest cylon fighters where numbers were the primary way by which the cylons tried to achieve superiority c. Hooji's excellent script writing and narration cannot be understated.
