the problem with these traffic light systems though is they don't really mean much. They are still based on when we thought fat and saturated fats were bad for you ( some fats can be bad for you, or if you eat more than you are burning, then you will obviously get fatter ). More important is the overall energy. As for the salt content, there's still plenty of info out there that it raises your blood pressure, but there's plenty of people saying that's not true. The ingredients list for this didn't look too bad to start with as they have used extra virgin olive oil, then I saw there was rapeseed oil in it. Avoid UPF's like this is a better way to reduce your blood pressure.

I was a single mum of two children working full time. I could have made this from scratch to feed all three of us for £4. There would be no ‘added ingredients’. Even easier today with Aldi and Lidl. Crap food is expensive for what you get and how bad it is for you. Don’t eat this ‘food’ and certainly don’t feed your children it. If you’re a trucker, make your food and take it with you! Don’t be lazy.

Top marks for hypocrisy, Jamie was the one campaigning against unhealthy school meals and people cooking at home, so he then associates himself with this a meal that fails on all but one of the health targets for fat, salt, calories etc and with an ingredients list that reads like a PhD in Biochemistry. And to top it all it costs £4 for a meal you can make with fresh ingredients for around half the price...😂😊

I s’pose the stone content depends on where the cottage was grown … to only have “some” stone probably means they normally only use the finest wattle and daub variety … but you really don’t want to know what goes into wattle and daub 😅😅.
From the microwave, it didn’t look remotely appetising to me … but I might give it a try in the oven … I just do not like microwave results … always pale and overly sloppy. I typically have to give a supermarket cottage pie a good extra 15 to 20mins to reduce the moisture content and get the topping to brown up. So, when the cooking instructions quote 50 mins … I wouldn’t bother looking at it until the 50 mins and then decide how much longer to give it and when to worry about my peas …. I will also usually apply extra mixed herbs with a healthy sprinkle of ground garlic/black pepper and a couple of splats (technical term) of butter to the topping before it goes into the oven.

Given the choice between a young Raquel Welch Film Star, (for a spot of "Comfort"), and a Cottage Pie, I would go for the Pie, every time! Minced Beef is wonderful for my Home Cooking, but far too expensive at my local Sainsbury's Supermarket! Hiya Gareth, the great guru that is St Jamie Oliver. What can I say 🤔? Sadly nothing nice. Teaching Zillions of folk how to cook 😂😂 how?? Well naturally send them to Iceland (the shop) so they can pay way over the top for one of the mass production items that carry your name on it. Gareth, for £4.00 you can buy fresh mince from a local butcher. Potatoes & vegetables local shop /farm shop. From them make a family size meal. The fact that it tasted nice and you liked it. Tempted to say for that price it bloomin well should do. For truckers who want & need a " ping meal " brilliant Sadly for the " silver shoppers." or people on limited fixed income, it's a no brainer 🤔 That said, a very fair, honest review. Good video as usual, Gaz.
I wouldn't buy that as it's got cloves in, it's more like a Cumberland (M&S used to do a lovely one). I have no intention of making the fat-tongued tw@t richer.

Hi from Canada. Really like your videos. Out of all the celebrity chefs I think Jamie is the most genuine and does what he says. If he is putting his name on it, it's going to be pretty decent quality. We obviously don't get many of these products here! but fun to watch. Why don't you do comparisons of freshly prepared foods from Grocery stores/markets?

That looks really nice. No strange oills or chemicals, just food that I would eat myself. It would be too dear to feed a family, or for one person to eat every day, but great once in a while. I agree it would be good for someone at work with access to a microwave - nowadays, a decent sandwich can cost as much and a junk food burger can cost more. I do find it amusing, though, that the Ministry of Food Foundation is stating on a ping meal that they are teaching people to cook - how’s that going, then?! 🤣

£4 .... that's £2 worth of food, £1 profit and a quid to Jamie. Now Iceland is the best place for him :) Low beef content, but the ingedients look good... interested to see they put vegetarian Worcester Sauce in a beef dish :) I'm sure it will be edible.....
