FIVE POUNDS !! you say.. but to be fair that is over 400g and it is a main meal item for two really. add a pile of chips or some veggies and its good to go. so really its a £2,50 per portion.
I'd put one of those straight in a bun/bap/(whatever), with a shot of sweet chilli sauce. (Other sauces from the kitchen cupboard if available, salad if wanted) £2.50 for a piping hot chicken burger is a bugger-sight cheaper than a big McChicken thing. Half the unit-price, double the chicken, fresh and hot in your sweaty mitts. That's 4 times better value!
Hey don't I know how much these were!!!, they was in the freezer but as the 3 for £10, so I grabbed 2 boxes and some scampi, when she said £14 at the checkout I said how much. She said they weren't part of the 3 for tenner deal, I did but them but tbh it's just as easy and cheaper to make your own
At £2.50 each portion and with chips and maybe peas if you have a family of 4 then that would be £10 just for the chicken you could by the ingredients for half a roast dinner for that price and still have some left over for sandwiches and bubble and squeak.
there are a few cheats on YT you take a breaded chicken steak cook it close to its designated time, take out put a thick layer of grated cheese on top put back in finish cooking time, melting cheese at last minute sprinkle some parmesan over for the flavour (of course best to find video and watch)
Basically? These are just chicken schnitzels. Give a pig a fancy name? It's still a pig. ( No disrespect to pigs ). I appreciate that some families are time limited. Maybe they're not used to cooking from scratch. Tonight for example I got home late. So I raided my freezer. I had pie, mash and liquor was it great? Maybe not great but still tasty Would I have prefered to buy a decent pie, make my own mash and parsley liquor? That's a yes. But I didn't want to cook from fresh due to the time. However? Tomorrow I fancy a Vindaloo curry. So I've dug out my slow cooker. Put some diced beef, a Lidl Vindaloo curry sauce mix and set it on low for about 8 hrs. I will then put in some broccoli, cauliflower and some red peppers and leave it for an hour or so. I will use microwave Basmati rice at the end. Granted I'm a ' singely ', so I'm cooking for one. But I will also cook enough to put some in the freezer. Personally? I wouldn't pay a fiver for a couple of schnitzels. But? Hey we are all different.
Bechamel is a chef term for white sauce from which other sauces can made like parsley sauce, cheese sauce, bread sauce etc.

Iceland can whistle, support UK farmed produce! I can promise you there are very few places in Poland selling UK sourced frozen chicken products.
THANK YOU.
Great thorough review, as usual. At £5 I'm wondering how much beef steak I could buy for that instead 🤔
Where did you get them plates from ?😉
Haha 👍 hope you're well brother
Hey don't I know how much these were!!!, they was in the freezer but as the 3 for £10, so I grabbed 2 boxes and some scampi, when she said £14 at the checkout I said how much. She said they weren't part of the 3 for tenner deal, I did but them but tbh it's just as easy and cheaper to make your own
N salad & chips & garlic sauce n chilli sauce
£5 looks nice , good value 👍
Oooh Gareth you do love a tab system 😂😂
Haha 👍
At £2.50 each portion and with chips and maybe peas if you have a family of 4 then that would be £10 just for the chicken you could by the ingredients for half a roast dinner for that price and still have some left over for sandwiches and bubble and squeak.
there are a few cheats on YT you take a breaded chicken steak cook it close to its designated time, take out put a thick layer of grated cheese on top put back in finish cooking time, melting cheese at last minute sprinkle some parmesan over for the flavour (of course best to find video and watch)
Yes herons is very good on price ,then again it's about the only shops we have in town .so there is not many cheap places to go ,to source bargains .
Maybe not great but still tasty
Would I have prefered to buy a decent pie, make my own mash and parsley liquor?
Blessed are the cheese makers
Looks good Gareth, yes a fiver but if you enjoyed it it was worth it, catch you soon🤤😋👍👍👍
We are off to buy some now.
Enjoy
