@@EmpathyIsInstinct I talk about this near the end of the video, but this depends. If your latest experience is the most impressive thing on your resume, you don't want to put anything before that. If it's not, then consider a very short highlight sections with 3 top bullets from the top companies/roles/achievements OR a one-sentence summary with your specific YOE in a specific function highlighting specific outcomes/numbers and companies. Again, put whatever is most impressive at the top left of the resume.
Amazing content. I landed here after watching ypur other 2 videos If you wear many hats in a company under one title, how do you showcase that in your resume
@@ColinLate hope you can keep motivated for this quality, i am sure this work will fly soon. I have the special situation of an internal move lowball offer, to raise the job grade the role needs to be published and interviewed. now i am thinking how to measure if it's worth the risk, since currently i am the only candidate
I may have struck gold by finding your channel. I'm currently applying for finance positions, but most of the tips in your videos can still apply. I will definitely update this comment if your videos help me land something!
For keywords, does it need to be an exact match? I see some that may use present vs. past tense, have a dash, etc. Also, I would love to see an example of you picking out keywords in a job description one day❤
ATS systems are getting smarter but some still require exact matches. But it should still be written for a human first and you should do outreach to try to get them to read it instead of the ATS
Strategy > Needs insight > Found insights > Translated into product recommendations with business case modeled > Put into product roadmap > Analyze results. If you did that, you were exposed to a lot of product and even wrote the PRD starter. Also even if you didn’t design it, talking through the decisions across all parts of the product cycle including design, strategy, etc. will show you would do the same or better if you were the PM
Yes, that’s why I suggested those ways to integrate them. Most tech recruiters don’t screen with ATS though. They just skim the resumes to shortlist them manually until they’re out of time. Most auto rejections are due to not enough time to read them all. The ones I know never use the ranking systems though I’m sure some do.
@@ColinLate okay thank you for this info. Knowing that most auto rejections are just resumes they couldn’t get to do you think it’s advisable to apply to jobs that are more recent and if so how recent?
They do. You can add some that are actually skills meaningful to the role at the bottom or as I mentioned in context. You don’t need to clutter the top with words without evidence

Sir do you earn 200k dollars a year? Plz reply. Thanks a lot.
Why do you ask? And $200k per year is an early career salary in this field so that was a while ago
But you still need some keywords correct? Because you won’t get past the ATS system and have an actual human being look at it if not

But the JDs have the buzzwords and cliches.
This is correct.
Also...7.4 seconds. Goes to show you that it doesn't matter.
