Hi Chris I’ve been a Logic user for almost ten years but since subscribing to you this year I’ve learnt so much more and if I need to find out stuff I don’t know I just look thru your videos and it’s there .Brilliant...plus it’s been a cool September! Thanks for the the 30 days ride .
Chris you are great I found myself listening to your videos over and over again because I'm a new user and I'm trying to do my best and you very much help me thank you again Chris you have a great day
Hey Chris. Thanks for what you have been doing with the Logic lessons and tips. I have been a Pro Tools user for 7 years and started using LPX about 6 months ago and I have hugely benefited by your Videos. Big love to you mate. And thanks again
Amazing 30 days ! Thanks so much Chris ! I was on the fence about Logic vs Studio One, but after your efforts in producing these videos...I'm sold.. ! Logic..hands down. Also, cannot go on enough about drummer. Thought I was going to have to buy EZdrummer, but no way...drummer has it all. The ability to adjust drum parts and change pieces of each kit along with swing and fills on the fly is impossible in any other DAW that I've seen. You've brought so much to light that would have taken me months to figure out...Thanks again !!
Dude just wanted to say thank you so much for all the tutorials youve been uploading daily, ive been working on Logic Pro for 8 years now and feel like I’m learning a completely new software by watching your videos !! 🙌
Thanks so much for this series. I work in Logic almost everyday, yet I didn't know a lot of the things that are deeper in the software. You exposed a lot of fantastic features that will make my work flow so much better and easier.
What a great help these 30 days have been! I have really learned a lot from this and am using it as a foundation and reference for my projects. I also am using the transcripts as a reference point for something specific I will be looking for. Thanks so much for the hard work you did putting this together. Awesome!
Hi - do you know how you most efficiently transfer all you plugins from one mac to a new one - not by using time machine or a full HD copy - but wants to do it plugin by plugin ?
Good video. Digital Performer has a smart tempo-like feature that goes both ways (tempo matches soundbite, or soundbite is stretched to match tempo), and has had notation from the beginning. And like Logic, DP can export MusicXML files (although it doesn’t import MusicXML yet). Studio One 5 added Notion 6 as its score editor.
Thanks for your massive efforts on behalf of the Logic community! Great tips every day ~ now take yourself a well-deserved break while we digest the past month's daily posts!
I think Logic is the only DAW that has something like drummer. I am pretty sure Cubase doesn't have smart tempo either. I didn't know it had dynamic plugin loading, but knowing Steinber, it's very possible that it has it.
Personally, I'm glad you cover only Logic and not like so many TH-camrs and just jump on the latest DAW and proclaim it to be the best thing ever. I've used ProTools, dabbled in Cubase, and even Digital Performer ages ago, but I keep going back to Logic and finally decided I don't need 5 different DAWs. One will do the job just fine.
Super Awesome series, any chance of a cheat sheet coming out? some of the videos, like the key commands, have too much to retain in my brain! happy to contribute $$

Another great video. Thanks. Re: Notation - I think it is worth mentioning that you can export notation as a MusicXML file and edit in another program, or to share with Sibelius users etc.
Thanks for the series! It has been helpful. I have been using Logic since it was owned by Emagic. I still learn new things all the time. Your tips are great!

This video is a life saver. Dynamic loading plugin would be lovely if Logic Pro would load every plugin in use and lot leave some behind. That always happens with Helix Native and sometimes I end up exporting a mixdown with a dry guitar signal. I'm 100% turning it off 🙌
I have a question related to logic drummer, can it auto accent? Like for eg. I'm playing a phrase where the chords go descending like Am, G ,F and the bass guitar and other instruments Make it sound like sticato can the logic Drummer do that? Is there a way to achieve this???
Yes - you convert the drummer track to MIDI, then you can move, add or eliminate beats, change velocities and durations, just like editing any MIDI track. Super cool and useful.
Awesome series! This is a Playlist that I will watch a few more times :D Thank you so much. I have a few follow up questions. I cannot see the "Sends on Faders" button on my mixer, I have to dig though through the send menu to activate/deactivte the state. And why does the Logic drummer tracks when expanded to stereo/producer kits use "post fader" sends to aux?
That Smart Tempo thing has gotten me to think about switching to mac. I've been on PC and Studio One since version one and I have been asking for that feature for years. It just needs to go one step further, it's half way there. It then needs to allow me to save as a custom time signature. Technically, Studio One can do that as well but a bit more cumbersome.
This is actually a very good argument, but many users who use an alternative daw even have a mac anyway because it's the standard in the music industry.
Didn’t know about auto-sampler (só thanks)....but ...right until the last feature..i was finding it pretty strange that Notation wasn’t being mentioned.. Maybe someday someone will realize that there are still a lot of musicians out there that still play mostly acoustic music and will produce a DAW designed for them with realistic brush drums, real cellos and solo violins and fiddles incorporated in the DAW that works for them. Not all of us do hip-hop, edm, etc.
Alexander Smith True, but most DAWs are packaged with synths and electronic drums more geared towards EDM and electronic music. None have good solo violins or cellos, nor do they include brush drums. Although ProTools is expensive, it is used widely and so is the core of my studio, but I have also used, and do also use other DAWs like Reaper, Cakewalk, et al and even the ones that come with realistic instruments they are more for pop or heavy rock, NOT for quiet acoustic music. I play guitar and my clientele is almost exclusively acoustic, and in my area there are really no violinists or cellists so I have to outsource to mostly (because I know the musicians there) Chicago. It gets expensive. So, the EDM people are at a greater advantage in terms of cost, since almost everything they need is “in the box” whereas I have to charge more or eat the cost myself. Just saying.
I think you will be pretty happy with that, they probably also have a brudt kit, I also use east west, and while I generally dont think all of their sounds are the best they are all painstakingly sampled and between orchestral stuff amd every type of drum kit you could want for 20 bucks a month you cant beat it.
I think every possible daw in the market has AT LEAST 7 features that competition does'nt... And maybe that's a problem, 'cause what I call "music helpers (drummer, tons of premade loops, etc...) are more likely to crash very hard creativity. Maybe... (But I'm just an old nostalgic guy...) that's why music today sounds very similar... By the way: 0. Dynamic Plugin: Reaper has a very similar way to handle cpu and memory... but more elegant in my opinion. 1. Smart tempo = "tempo conform" in beat detective in Protools from version 7 (15 yrs ago) 2. Drummer: Logic has it in the box, but every drum plugin has similar features (even the cheap but underestimated Strike from AIR) 3. Not a fan of massive sound library, but Protools now comes with a full license of UVI Falcon. Not to mention Reason. 4. Is being part of the apple ecosystem an advantage? Could be, but what if Apple hardware is the only way to have an integrated experience? Reaper has the ability to use a WEB PAGE to control him!!!! NO matter what device U use... And if you make music that can be handled by a phone... well we have a problem :-) 5. Auto sampler. A 60 dollar software as Renoise has it from version 1 (years ago) 6. What????? Score editor??? Cubase? Protools? Reaper? etc... at the end of the day... ther is only ONE DAW that rules: the one that you're used to.. so that you don't have to spend too much time re-inventing the wheel...
About the drummers: I’m accustomed to GarageBand. As a non-drummer I don’t want to program drums, but tell m drummer the groove and overall song structure, and let them figure this out. I want to set the main kick/snare accents but not invent all fills. I’d love to learn how others deal, with this.
@@StefanBoeykens I think drummer is helpful in a way you can achieve results fast. I don't argue about how good drummer is... I think that drummer does'nt make logic better than other DAW. My point is that every DAW has at least 7 or more features that others don't. Programming drums is one of the most exciting thing for me, so, I don't care about... but for YOU can and sure is different. :-). It's all about workflow... somebody finds logic very good, some others don't and prefer other DAW. As a professional I worked with tons of DAW, plugin, and I had to give up on logic, 'cause was vey unprofessional in a lots of way (discrepancy in automation, reverb tails unflushed session very easily corrupted..., I think (and hope) some issue is now solved, but in the meantime I switched... :-)
Interested in switching from Cubase coz I'm absolutely sick of its lack of stability. This video wasn't great though. Cubase can do everything (and better), or a slight variation as these examples except for drummer. Still tempted to jump to Logic. Losing my mind over here.
Logic really needs a Splice style way to access Apple loops/samples instead of filling your hard drive full of sounds you will never use. Edit. Including external drive (which is where i keep all the folders belonging to Logic except for the actual app itself)
Smart tempo, ableton 10 has that already. Just heads up this is not unique to logic. I am a logic user ,just wanted to inform you these videos are dope!
Only one problem; in five years time you won’t be able to run the latest version of Logic unless you have a Mac with the latest chip or cpu. Twice in the past 15 years, I’ve had to lay out $2400 for a new Mac. Ive spoken to senior people at Apple and as a rule they don’t allow the latest OSX on Macs older than five years ( a few exceptions).
Not sure what senior people you spoke to, but that's not necessary. Apple have long classified machines as vintage after about 5 years and obsolete after about 7 years. They generally support OS upgrades for about 7 years if you buy something today. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201624 As far as any software, that's going to be a typical development these days. The flip side is I can't buy a new version of Cubase right now and have it work on Windows XP or a 10 year old Mac.

at the end of the day... ther is only ONE DAW that rules: the one that you're used to.. so that you don't have to spend too much time re-inventing the wheel...
Hi
Please make a video on logic remote app for iOS
Really enjoyed the series #abettermusicianeveryday
Interested in switching from Cubase coz I'm absolutely sick of its lack of stability. This video wasn't great though. Cubase can do everything (and better), or a slight variation as these examples except for drummer. Still tempted to jump to Logic. Losing my mind over here.
I wish Ultrabeat was available solo on iPad and or iphone
Just want to point out Cubase Has Scoring, and arguably , more refined.
Oh, And congrats on a Job well done...
I "score" it a 30 out of Thirty
I was just about saying this. Cubase can do most of these things if you know what you're doing
Hi Chris, I checked my sounds library and content in Logic and I've got 77.61 Gigs
Logic really needs a Splice style way to access Apple loops/samples instead of filling your hard drive full of sounds you will never use. Edit. Including external drive (which is where i keep all the folders belonging to Logic except for the actual app itself)
pro tip: keep your sound library on an external drive
@@TheInsanityofGab yeh nah. That's still filling up a hard drive.
Mine are all online and I have a little download link next to the ones I want to download.
@@pillowhead4000 yeah nah. Its not the same.
This track reminds me of early Rush!
That smart tempo metronome sure does not sound right?
Smart tempo, ableton 10 has that already. Just heads up this is not unique to logic.
I am a logic user ,just wanted to inform you these videos are dope!
Only one problem; in five years time you won’t be able to run the latest version of Logic unless you have a Mac with the latest chip or cpu. Twice in the past 15 years, I’ve had to lay out $2400 for a new Mac. Ive spoken to senior people at Apple and as a rule they don’t allow the latest OSX on Macs older than five years ( a few exceptions).
Still not as nefarious as Protools.
Not sure what senior people you spoke to, but that's not necessary. Apple have long classified machines as vintage after about 5 years and obsolete after about 7 years. They generally support OS upgrades for about 7 years if you buy something today. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201624
As far as any software, that's going to be a typical development these days. The flip side is I can't buy a new version of Cubase right now and have it work on Windows XP or a 10 year old Mac.
