Tony Holiday I think it’s an incredible leap for Logic. I cannot say that I’ve ever seen a cooler and more well rounded DAW. IMO It’s just taken the crown from several contenders. Wonderful content as well Tony. Thanks for elucidating the newest features. I’m wondering if you can do a bass sequencing vid sometime soon? That would be excellent.
Could not agree more. Apple really took what was great about other DAWs and incorporated it into LPX, I’m really pleased with everything that I’m finding. For the suggestion, you mean making basslines within the step sequencer? That could make a great video for sure. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and kind words. Cheers 🤙

As a lifelong educator I can definitely say that your tutorial style, the way you edit these videos, what you choose to show, what you wisely leave out, your clarity . . . are all outstanding. Just enough, just the right stuff. A lot of people make a lot of videos for Logic. These are some of the absolute best I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time and sharing.
Wow, David. Thank you so much for the kind words, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Teaching is something I never did before TH-cam but I really enjoy it now that I've found a good system for how to present my thoughts and practices. It's comments like these that really keep me motivated and want to keep making content. Thanks again, Happy Holidays to you and yours!
I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on Splice’s beatmaker. I like it’s interface but when I drop a beat loop or drum sample in the simple sampler I can tell it doesn’t reduce the quality of the kick sample.

The last 5-6 minutes of this video gave me a complete roadmap to replacing my redoubtable Arturia Drumbrute. The Drum Machine Designer is a miracle. Thanks for getting this out there. Love this.
@@itstonyholiday Well, I regret to say that I started in on Logic to do this process (I have 10.7.1) and Drum Machine Designer no longer exists. There are several videos on TH-cam describing obsolete content now as a result. The drum capabilities in 10.7.x bear no resemblance to those shown in your video, and it looks like it's been severely dumbed down to look more like GarageBand's drum configurations. Drag & Drop is gone, the 32-step patterning is gone, and the DMD interface is gone. Looks like this content needs to be revisited. I'm a neophyte six months in so take this with a grain of salt. Awesome tutorial--the best part is how you boil down all the new options and get right to the best way to do things. Personally, I was like, great, Apple just gave us 10 more ways to do drums and I thought the old process was complicated and bad!!! This helps--esp. for a hip hop producer where drums are our bread and butter. BTW now that you've simplified Logic, I see that the new drum machine is basically the drum sequencer from iOS Garage Band, laid on top of the sample-handling and power of Logic--I've always wondered why more DAWs didn't incorporate FL Studio's detailed drum machine interface...down to pitching each hit individual hit (poeple can say what they like about FL Studio but their basic drum machine--after you dragged and dropped in some decent samples was far away the best and most customizable. With this release Logic has come very close, if not surpassed FL studio's drum machine, which is saying a lot. Thanks much--and for those familiar with the iOS sequencer, basically anything you could do in the iOS sequencer, you can now do in Logic, from quick rolling modifications to quick individual velocity alterations (no more trying to pick the right little dot among the thousands of dots in the automation window), down to shortening and extending individual sample tracks. Excellent video--you pinpointed my exactly what I needed to start having fun with the update instead of just being overwhelmed and pissed and lowered my stress level greatly...thought I might have to switch to my iPad permanently for making drum tracks...thanks again!

Logic finally contains the best parts of on of the first sequencers, Voyetra's Sequencer Plus. Sounds like we are back in 1985 in New York City at The Rock, NYC
Thanks. Just by watching your lpx videos I have gotten really far on this new lpx trial. Much faster than i got anything done in ableton. You made it easy for me to just open this program & use it. Keep it coming!
Love all the new features! But very disappointed that Logic didn't include Note Panning in the step sequencer and an actual Ghost Note feature instead of the generic one we have to setup. But still, Logic Gang...
You mean like being able to pan each step sequenced note? Ya that would be cool for sure... the ghost notes thing is a bit of a hit. But who knows maybe that’ll be 10.6/7/8. I feel like they really wanted to get these features out.
great breakdown...i'm an ableton user and now i'm jealous of the step sequencer. you're the first person to really get into it and show the parameters in depth.....midi offset in the step sequencer is really nice. of course you can do the same thing in a piano roll. but this is a nice little package.
I almost bought Ableton cause it was on sale the last month but I’m happy I stuck it out haha. Looking forward to diving into the 10.5 more and seeing how I can utilize the step sequencer. Thanks for watching 👍
@@itstonyholiday eh logic is cheap enough if you already have a mac. all the money i've saved on beer because of the lockout can be put to good use. my only remaining concern about logic is the sample browser. ableton has a really good search function and the sample hot swap capability is really good. I know this was an issue in logic before. do you know if they've fixed it?

Logic finally contains the best parts of on of the first sequencers, Voyetra's Sequencer Plus. Sounds like we are back in 1985 in New York City at The Rock, NYC
No time machine needed! Thanks for watching
Best tutorial I've seen on the DMD, many thanks!
Really appreciate the kind words, thanks for watching + the comment 🙌
Hey, the "separate by note pitch" is grayed out. So I can't select it. Any help is appreciated guys
I’m having the same problem! Does anybody know how to fix this?
same problem for me, have you found a solution yet?
actually nvm, it was because I didn't convert it to a MIDI region.
Been waiting for that drum loop pack glad to see it’s coming out soon
Artwork ideas sent to designers yesterday! So soon I promise 👍
Thanks for inquiring
goat

Thank you for watching! Really appreciate the kind words.
Hey Tony new subscriber here. Can we by any chance save drums sounds on drum machine that way it’s easier for us to start on a project?
Sure thing, use the gear icon in your library to save your presets 👍
Thanks. Just by watching your lpx videos I have gotten really far on this new lpx trial. Much faster than i got anything done in ableton. You made it easy for me to just open this program & use it. Keep it coming!
Really happy that you found the content helpful! Thank you for watching, there will be more to come 👍
keep it hot and quick like that so I could get it
Woof always
Thank you! Really helpful for a beginner.
Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it.
Excellent video Tony. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! Really appreciate the kind words
Bro these tutorials are so clean, thanks so much.
Appreciate you! Thank you homie
God damnn, what a tutorial, i wish i knew this 2 months ago man. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching! At least now you know 🙌
great breakdown...i'm an ableton user and now i'm jealous of the step sequencer. you're the first person to really get into it and show the parameters in depth.....midi offset in the step sequencer is really nice. of course you can do the same thing in a piano roll. but this is a nice little package.
Ya the sample browser could use a facelift for sure... I can’t say if it’s fixed or not since I haven’t had any major issues with it tho
Great video bro. Been stuck with drums, but this gives me hope!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Second Video I saw of you. You got my Follow man, crazy how you answered almost every question in the comment section. Much respect for this brother! YOU GOT MY SUPPORT!
Ha I do my best... rewarding for me to see people liking the content. More producers using Logic means more updates of the software (I hope). Thanks for watching!

Your stuff is always on point. I recently decided to take a short break and sharpen my tool kit to try and keep fresh but also efficient . Something I wish I did more often and in many more ave.s of my life. Just when I was about to get back to the grind with some new artist the label picked up and go back to doing things the old way, I found your channel and its exactly what I needed. Thanks for taking the time to learn what's new and teach it .. Im still bouncing around catching your videos months later than originally posted. Soon I should be caught up and start bugging you for a new one's . Ha
