*Old video I did on NFC Technology back in 2012* Seems odd any company would choose not to include this on their phone, unless of course it wasn't a flagship device then I'd understand. In any case, even Apple who is always late to the party has NFC implemented in their phone for mobile payment.
What I hate is I have the tech but these businesses either don't have or have turned of their NFC device at the POS terminal. Same goes with the notifications from Google Wallet when you're near a store that you have a loyalty card with. The expandable notification gets presented but the stores tech cannot read the bar codes on the phones screen. /sigh 😶
Tony Hoffman but it isn't only used in mobile payments. I use NFC all the time with my Sony camera's. Heck, even when I get a new Android phone it asks me if I want to use NFC to transfer my information over.

Something you might not get: OnePlus Two is a choice. It doesn't replace the One. I also hated the lack of NFC but then I saw the big picture. It's just another choice as the company only had 1 terminal and needed another one for consolidation. Think about it Armando :)
NFC would be perfect to implement on concert wristbands. The promotional department could set the NFC commands for launching the band's fan page and social media to tell friends you're at the concert. I can see many marketing possibilities.
The keyrings look kinda like the door entry tags we have at work will have to give it a try see what it reads, thanks for the video man keep up the good work
NFC is definitely the future. The fact that the two largest credit card firms on the planet have adopted NFC in their credit cards is proof of that. Its sad that Apple didn't include this simple And easy to use technology in their iPhone 5. Maybe they wanted to add it to their iPhone 5s next year since they need another selling point to have ppl upgrade their older iPhones. Great video as always Armando.
Hey Armando nice video. Now to answer your question. It is not essential to put the NFC chip at the back of the device. The front of iPhone 5 is glass where the NFC chip could have been placed. I think the main reason for excl. the NFC chip is to continue keeping their OS as closed as possible. NFC has great potential and possibilities and it can be even used to transfer files (audio and video) which Apple as we all know doesn't allow its users to do like in the case of Bluetooth.
Great video. What I like to do is too make apps with tasker and app factory then just launch it with the NFC. I like this better as Tasker does not need to be installed and running. I have NFC with my home alarm and lights.
I agree also, since the tag is always there I could see some bugs with it being next to the device for an extended amount of time since nfc tags are ment to just pass by the device for a moment to transfer a small amount of data and use it.
I use these very same tags, very, very handy for switching between work and normal profile on my phone. I really should get more creative with the tags I use!
Wireless charging pad in the car with wifi off, data on, driving mode on stickers and possibly even a sticker that that turns bluetooth on, connects to your car, and plays a selected playlist. That is what I would use this awesome technology for.
Hey Armando, I just wanna say this is a very cool video didn't know that you can do such cool stuff with NFC. Btw what laptop is that! Greetz from Holland
Did you consider putting the NFC tag in the car holder instead of where it was? That way you would just have to stick it in the holder. Or would it make it impossible to put the phone in there because of the tag's thickness?
Bro, I need to know more about NFC since I got a paper on it :( I have basic information about it but your video enlightened me with the use of NFC but where else can NFC be used and what are its possibilities??? Is it used widespread in any business cases?? and any idea where it can be used in areas unknown? thanks in advance :)
Hey Armando, what is the name of the program you have running in you win8 pc desktop? The one that informs weather and pc information? Good video... Thanks
So NFC just to execute a task ... with vocal command I'm note sure these NFC uses will be the smartest ones. And transfer data or anything else to laptop can be done using bluetooth or many other ways. *but* : Your example of vcard ils quite nice. Formatting a plastic coin with my vcard in it , I quite much like the idea. So please show us this kind of use , dear Nexus guru.
Hi Armando, I have a quick question. I was considering purchasing those 1K tags you mentioned, however I've been hearing that they won't work with the Nexus 4. Considering that you own both a Nexus 4 and the tags I was wondering if you could confirm either way.
Can you have multiple tasks on one tag?? Like you can have one combination of settings for when you leave the house and then another tag for when you get back to reset them??
hey Armando here is a question cant you get get a sticker tag and take the internal of it and stick it on the car dock?? i saw it done but not on a car dock
Hello Armando, how many 'tasks' can a single nfc tag carry at time. Like you stored the Wifi disable then later the Wifi tether app, will it retain both commands? If so how will the app know which to activate?
You have a new subscriber dude! Very well done video! Hopefully would be awesome if you can do a video on the NFC Rings. I've just bought one, it's on its way and I will be doing a review myself however I struggle to see what else beyond setting tasks that an NFC Ring can be used for and it doesn't appear there are many videos on NFC out there at this time.
I have an Urban Armor case on my Galaxy S6 Edge+ and my NFC will work with older Galaxies when the older galaxy has an otterbox case. They should work fine
Hey armando a question why do you keep the galaxy nexus if is there many other phones with more capabilities like the S3 just wondering because there have to be a reason I'm just curious cause I did switch to the S3 just a question :)
what's the dock please? also what happens if you leave the phone on the tag - does it keep on toggling (in case toggle is pre-set) or do you have to move the phone out of tag field and then move it back in?
pretty nice vid as always Armando, in the beginning i hated NFC but after a little bit of thinking where can i use this i find its important in some cases, so we need just more development support until the end ...... accept my pass
I bought the Samsung ones and pasted one of them in my bed. With the app Unified remote which is NFC integrated, i programed it to "sleep" the computer.
I got a question about nfc custom action: if I want to replace my home intercom with a tag, can I configure it so that an hangout where I'm invited person ?
man this maybe could sound so noob but thanks u so much i learn and i discoverd somethink new today with this video i didt know that nfc tags exist LOL and now im buying a pack of 40 tags :p
You can buy tags for metallic surfaces! In Germany, for example, you can buy that here: www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/646781/blobboc-NFC-Etiketten-10er-Set-blanko-NFC-Tag-fuer-metallische-Oberflaechen-Weiss-10-Stueck?ref=searchDetail
wow. awesome. i did not know that all these things could be done with NFC tags. I thought it was a way to pay for things in the near future. awesome. I am looking forward to playing with NFC tags. maybe you'll send me a few :). hint, hint :). thanks.
If you stick that tag in the actual car dock, (since that's where the phone is going anyway) will that cause problems (It keeps on restarting the app until you remove the phone)? Paying with NFC sounds useful, especially for things like public transport but I'm sorry to say, if Apple don't put NFC in their iPhone, it will never take off.
Just got my tags, those things are magical! However, I wonder why the "Close application" action doesn't work at all? I use a Galaxy SII X running Android 4.0.4 if it matters. Also, it says I need root access to toggle GPS on and off... I'm not ready to root my phone yet, any workaround?

/sigh 😶
Big mistake. Maybe they felt the people's who use mobile payments was far less than those enjoy wanted a better camera and finger print scanner?
Tony Hoffman but it isn't only used in mobile payments. I use NFC all the time with my Sony camera's. Heck, even when I get a new Android phone it asks me if I want to use NFC to transfer my information over.

I think they are just giving a hint on something else coming from them. Maybe some type of wearable device that will have NFC to compliment the OP2.
NFC would be perfect to implement on concert wristbands. The promotional department could set the NFC commands for launching the band's fan page and social media to tell friends you're at the concert. I can see many marketing possibilities.
Too freaking cool, never realized the real potential for NFC, I am totally going to get this in my car
The keyrings look kinda like the door entry tags we have at work will have to give it a try see what it reads, thanks for the video man keep up the good work
This is such a great idea for NFC use! I really want to get myself a nexus now!
NFC is definitely the future. The fact that the two largest credit card firms on the planet have adopted NFC in their credit cards is proof of that. Didn't know NFC was that powerful. Thanks for sharing!
I agree also, since the tag is always there I could see some bugs with it being next to the device for an extended amount of time since nfc tags are ment to just pass by the device for a moment to transfer a small amount of data and use it.
Nice interior, love ur car. Thanks for the tips on the NFC usage. Nice video, keep it up.
I use these very same tags, very, very handy for switching between work and normal profile on my phone. I really should get more creative with the tags I use!
with previous experience with the Apple phones, i find this very amazing. I can't wait to get a nexus 4, along with some tags!
Wireless charging pad in the car with wifi off, data on, driving mode on stickers and possibly even a sticker that that turns bluetooth on, connects to your car, and plays a selected playlist. That is what I would use this awesome technology for.
NFC is the coolest thing i have ever seen
amazing
Couple questions! Where can I find nfc micro USB or SD adapter? What car dock are you using? What kind of car are you driving?
Very illustrative and useful !
I never miss any of your videos!
Always slick, fluid and understandable :)
Cheers
I really want to buy a Nexus 7.. Just for the NFC Capability :o this makes me want it even more! Great video :)
Hey Armando,
I just wanna say this is a very cool video didn't know that you can do such cool stuff with NFC.
Btw what laptop is that!
Greetz from Holland
NFC wristbands is amazing with NFC Technology
Did you consider putting the NFC tag in the car holder instead of where it was? That way you would just have to stick it in the holder. Or would it make it impossible to put the phone in there because of the tag's thickness?
Now I know what's NFC capable. Thank you

Really cool stuff.. recommended to a whole lot of my friends
Hey Armando, what is the name of the program you have running in you win8 pc desktop? The one that informs weather and pc information? Good video... Thanks
Hey just wanted to say awesome videos! Keep up the good work
Eagerly expecting Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Review from you! :)

Like RollingShot, I also like to know about the car dock your using. Is it customised from the "stuck to the windshield" version?
@Armando Ferreira 4:31 Dang that tap was short and awesome, pretty quick too Armando, Nice Explanation video ;)
I wanna get NFC tag soon ... well explanation
Wow this is pretty awesome. :O I just learned my Galaxy S2 has NFC!
great video.
What kind of car holder do you use?
Armando, what if my back of the Android phone is from metal, will it work? I own an Htc One V. Your videos are awesome and very interesting. You Rock.
Hi Armando, I have a quick question. I was considering purchasing those 1K tags you mentioned, however I've been hearing that they won't work with the Nexus 4.
Considering that you own both a Nexus 4 and the tags I was wondering if you could confirm either way.
The NFC business card such owesome technology. its very much easy to us in daily life for business as well as social connectivity media
Do you think Apple opted to lose NFC to maintain its metal back? If so, is that a good compromise over plastic? Discuss...
He has a Audi Q 5 ;-)
Hihi, big fan of this channel!
Could we get some more in depth tricks and tips with Tasker?
Nfc tags are awesome

wich app do you use do the notification shortcuts? (wifi, bt, light, etc.)
tks!
Could a GS2 work with one of the nfc enabled microsds you were mentioning? So curious!
I have an Urban Armor case on my Galaxy S6 Edge+ and my NFC will work with older Galaxies when the older galaxy has an otterbox case. They should work fine
What app are you using for the shortcuts on your notification tray
Armando,
I have the Bionic and I am wondering where I can get an NFC sdcard. I have looked around but have not been able to find any.
Awesome stuff Armando
Hey armando a question why do you keep the galaxy nexus if is there many other phones with more capabilities like the S3 just wondering because there have to be a reason I'm just curious cause I did switch to the S3 just a question :)
what's the dock please? also what happens if you leave the phone on the tag - does it keep on toggling (in case toggle is pre-set) or do you have to move the phone out of tag field and then move it back in?
I did the same using the local area cell tower signal. Using the specified cell signal = wifi on. Leave the area (cell signal) = wifi off.
What companies do you own, Armando? BTW, Great Video!!
pretty nice vid as always Armando, in the beginning i hated NFC but after a little bit of thinking where can i use this i find its important in some cases, so we need just more development support until the end ...... accept my pass
Badass, I'm buying tags ASAP
The NFC tag is too thick and the phone won't fit. It barely works with my extended battery as it is.
Off Topic: What car dock is that? Have a link you could please share?
Thanks
i just love your videos
My Xperia S has come with 4 different color NFC like technology. Wondering if works with your app?
Great bunch of ideas!
Cool information. Im happy to have a galaxy nexus ;-)
Hi Armando,
Since you have a Nexus 4, and as I read is not compatible with some NFC 1k tags, does this still work?
This is just too awsome.. I'm so glad I have an android!
I bought the Samsung ones and pasted one of them in my bed. With the app Unified remote which is NFC integrated, i programed it to "sleep" the computer.
can a phone with a different nfc tag reader app also read and exicute the actions on the tag?
Awesome! Keep me informed.
I got a question about nfc custom action: if I want to replace my home intercom with a tag, can I configure it so that an hangout where I'm invited person ?
Will it work if i put some non-metal on top of a metal and put the NFC tag on top of the non-metal??
thnx alot man i didn't know how that works, now i'm tempted to ditch my iphone 5 in favor of a nexus 4 :D
If you put the tag on the back of the dock, is it too thick to make the NFC work?
man this maybe could sound so noob but thanks u so much i learn and i discoverd somethink new today with this video i didt know that nfc tags exist LOL and now im buying a pack of 40 tags :p
please i need more details on how i can make my phone nfc enables and where i can get the chips to make my phone nfc enable
is that the car dock for the samsung galaxy nexus or a s3?
Nice information,,,,thanks!
You can buy tags for metallic surfaces!
In Germany, for example, you can buy that here: www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/646781/blobboc-NFC-Etiketten-10er-Set-blanko-NFC-Tag-fuer-metallische-Oberflaechen-Weiss-10-Stueck?ref=searchDetail

great video...Greetings from Rio
can wee use those tags for a blackberry 9380,a nfc enabled device?

I would put the tag in the phone dock(if it fits with phone) .
I have the sudden urge to make popcorn...
what was the application your phone loaded when you went into car mode?
What notification bar app are u using???
is it possible to put the tag on your phone cradle? so when you put your phone in the cradle it automactically goes to car mode?
Informative!
Lol! Didn't know that key chain was a NFC tag. Nice.
Put the card in the dock it would be easier that way don't you think this is my first of your videos and I subscribed
If you stick the nfc tag to the back of your cradle when u pop it in the stand it would go to car mode no need to scan first
real good keep the vids coming.
enjoy your vids, and just wondering where are you from? im a latino too
Does these tags u have work for the nexus 4
Just got my tags, those things are magical!
However, I wonder why the "Close application" action doesn't work at all? I use a Galaxy SII X running Android 4.0.4 if it matters. Also, it says I need root access to toggle GPS on and off... I'm not ready to root my phone yet, any workaround?
I liked the video man.
Ewallets around the world: LET'S USE QR PAYMENTS
NFC: Am i a joke to you?
What are the NFC microSD cards called? And where can you buy them?
Is there a way to know how much storage can a nfc sticker hold? I got free nfc stickers when i bought my LG phone..
What's the laptop you're showing in the video?
Same Tag can work for multiple phones?
