You did a lot of good work, only to end up painting it the wrong color, and with the wrong finish. The original color used by both the army and Waffen SS before 1843 was a dark green-grey, originally in a semi-gloss but quickly switched to flat finish when the war started. After 1943, all helmets and vehicles were given a base coat of "Ordinance Tan" (which we Allies often mistakenly call "Afrika Korps Mustard Yellow")., over which was sprayed two additional colors: red primer and "apple green", so as to give the helmet a blended camouflaged look (the orders could not be carried out by every factory due to paint shortages caused by Allied bombing, and so the dark green-grey is still the most common color you see on millions of surrendering German soldiers in 1945). As in WWI, all paints were in a flat finish, to avoid any chance of reflecting moon light at night. At no time was any helmet in the Third Reich ever painted glossy (or semi-gloss) US Battleship Gray.

Every year during September 19 our army do a military parade where we show our "military strength" and also show our story, there we have an special regiment of soldiers who wears the old Prussian uniform and then the German army (similar to the Wehrmacht) uniform, they also have a band playing Preußen Gloria while they March.

    Very good work!
What I think is a shame, is that so many people say "The Bad Germans" or "The Bad Nazi Socialists"... But it was a World War... Nothing was fair at all... Regardless of whether from the side of the Wehrmacht aka Axis powers (Achsenmächte) or from the side of the Allies. So many people who didn't want to fight, whether Germany, America or anywhere else ... There were so many people who didn't want to fight, but they had to do it ... I would like (especially with such a video where the story is the main part) that a little more thought is put into it before you write something bad about the symbols under such a video ... Sure, here in Germany this is all a forbidden symbol (which I personally find a shame because it is part of our story). However, you don't have to insult all Germans just because they come from Germany ...
(I writed some parts with google translate, so if you find mistakes or words which don't make sense in the order how they are there: I'm sorry :D)
Otherwise I enjoyed the work very much!
    Greetings from Germany!

Sometimes the restorations are necessary to stop it from being destroyed. Many paintings would fade away, peel off if it weren't for restorations. Also movie props. The Michael Myers mask from Halloween 5 was restored because if it hadn't been restored, it would've fallen entirely apart.

Proper restoration usually means that the item in question has been repaired to the point where it's risk of physical deterioration is at its lowest while it's originality is at its maximum. While the video creator did a pretty good job at patching it up, the helmet at the end of the video has lost basically all of its originality and is essentially a replica.
3:26 was probably the best stopping point as far as restoration goes, but it's his helmet so he gets to decide what he wants it to end up looking. Personally I don't like the finished product. It just doesn't look like an authentic helmet anymore and that usually ends up hurting market value. Make of it what you will, but restoring antiques can be well done if the restorationist is properly trained and knowledgeable in their field.
