Not bad, bro. There are a few things I would've done different but its still decent work. Hopefully those pins hold, as soft as they are...I understand why you didnt give it a full sharpening too.
Great job. I have a Gras bayonet and looking to learn how to restore it. For future videos maybe you can tell us what products ( like for polish ) you use. ( 6:36 / 11:49 / 12:07 )
I acquired two of those with butchered hilts. Since the collector value had been destroyed, I re-hilted them as short swords, properly sharpened. They look wicked.
J'adore !
There are many Chassepot collectors, as there are lots of different types. I have an example made for an American Remington rifle, with a German made blade, that was issued by the Egyptian army, with the St.Etienne Armoury engraved on the blade spine. Madness.
Hi, I also have an Egyptian Remington rolling block Bayonet similar to this one, made in Germany, with no spine markings. It surprised me that these bayonets were mounted to the side of the Remington, - they are so heavy that mounted like that they couldn't have helped the accuracy of the gun.
Bayonets shouldn't be really sharp tho, the main purpose is to stab, not slash, sharpening a bayonet wouldn't be all that useful, it'd be more of a waste of time
FINALLY, someone who doesn't just sand the textures flat and actually lets the pitted texture remain in its full sparkly glory
Thanks my bro :)
He’s not the only one who has done this.

Beautiful restoration job. It looks much better than before. Great work.
Thanks bro👍🏻
Very nice item and great work ❤
Thanks my friend❤️
Excellent work. That is an impressive weapon... I guess the designers wanted French soldiers to be prepared in case they needed to fight elephants!..😚
That’s an excellent conclusion that you gave me! :) Thank you very much! :)
You are a super artist with restoring items I love the video. ❤
Thank you my friend :)

Thank you for your comment! I use regular polishing compound. The second step is ‘L’impeca,’ a much finer polishing compound.

👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks!
Nice job 👍❤️
Thank you!😃
Awesome.
Thanks :)
Nice job but I think I would have put a drop of oil on inside the handle and over the parts as they will rust up very quickly
Very good idea👍🏻

No need to disassembly the bayonet, but good job
Thanks :)

Impresionante balloneta con una restauración acorde
👍🏻😀
Restaurada baioneta 🗡😉
😎
🤣
Did you feel the ghost of the warrior that once carried that beautiful bayonet?
Was waiting for the goldfish..
