- Instructions for calibrating the pitch control on your Rane Twelve. If your 0 point is not correct and the pitch on your Twelves doesn't match then you can use this video to fix that problem. I got these instructions from a Rane customer service rep.
So I just purchased a pair of used Rane Twelves from Guitar Center. I pray that I don't have to worry about this. Although, if I do, I have this video to fall back on. Thank you.

Screwface Muziq it’s crazy that this info isn’t in the manual. I almost sent my Twelve back for a refund until I called Rane.
Going back through some of your past tutorials because 4 some reason I figured you would have blessed us with a tutorials on another one of Rane’s Issues. Thank you again for providing us with The Solution that RANE should be giving its customers. Honestly I’m loosing a little of my respect for Rane due to the difficulty you have contacting someone who actually is a troubleshooting specialist for the mixers & the 12 controller. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Were you having issues with the Twelves? I really wish they would have worked out for me.
Yes I’m having trouble with the contour control knob on channel 2. When I raise the upfader on channel 2 there’s no volume when I raise or lower the upfader unless I turn the contour knob all the way to the right. If I turn the contour knob to 6 o’clock the volume is very low. I don’t have that issue with the channel 1 contour knob, what do you think that could be?? Please give me your input when you have time; your wisdom on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏🏿

I just purchased 2 used Rane Twelve's and the pitch wasn't working (it wouldn't slow or speed up the track). I did this and now the pitch behaves properly. Thanks!!!

thanks man i have a bit of pitch flutter,nothing major but this good to know .My 12 mk2 has the power button in a recess at the back so it going to be a bit harder to do this but i will give it a try if i need to.Otherwise i really like the deck and i will be getting the second as soon as i can.Its nice to have the feel of a turntable again

an update on my pitch flutter.Turns out i did not place the control disc on the spindle correctly hence an inaccurate playback so no need for any other measures.However this info is still useful to know should i ever have any more trouble

I just got 2 Rane 12's and one of them was a slightly out of pitch, i followed these steps and and it appears to still do the same thing, Easy to follow walk through though!

I my rane 12 mk2 winds up when I press play but only in serato. Doesn't do that in virtual dj. What does that mean?
That’s just they different way the two programs react. Technically the motor always has a drag when the start button is pressed regardless of what program is used. All turntables are like that. Virtual DJ starts the music instantly and lets the turntable catch up without affecting the sound. Serato stays true to what speed the platter is actually moving at. That’s just the difference between using controllers with platters that rotate and the one that don’t. DJs like myself that started on real turntables appreciate those little imperfections.
Thanks brother I appreciate that information. I started to get irritated and take it back because I thought something was wrong with the rane mk2. I started on controllers and thats what I was expecting it to do was kick right in.

I can’t because I no longer have the Twelves. I sold them last year and got a pair of turntables and Phase.

What if you did calibrstion but the big dots still move forward?
Then you might need to get Rane involved. I ended up selling mine and going back to turntables.

According to the RaneDJ forum the process is the same. I haven't had to do this to my MKII

hold pitch 8% and 16% only down....than the same movement... when you're back in the middle position push all 3 pitch knobs ;)

These Rane twelves suck so bad I’ve heard of so many motor issues with them. The mk1’s were straight defective from the beginning. I’ve never liked Rane and they just discontinue most of their mixers due to unresolved driver issues. Even the Rane One was so limiting. Pioneer is such a better company I’m loving the Rev 7.
Yeah, I really tried to work with these over a couple of years including the MKII. They all had the same issues. Every day i see new examples of them messing up. I really wanted to like them but I ended up selling them and going back to turntables and using Phase.
@@logisticalstyles i still play traditional vinyl so the fact the twelves were only a dvs solution just didn’t make sense to me. I have my Technics and phase…however i did sell my S9 for the Rev 7. The best thing about that though i can still use my t-tables with the Rev 7.

Good Question. I did notice that they eventually added this to a Tip and Tricks page on the website. When I had this problem a year ago the info was no where to be found. I had to email Rane to get this info.

I Have two Twelve mk2 bit one still little bit vibráte Up And Down some about 0.2 bpm
If the calibration doesn't fix it then you may need to contact Rane support.

Make sure you have them running on high torque aswell or they lag reaching bpm

ross mr change the brake speed in the Serato settings to all grey

So once you calibrate would you have to do it again?
I wouldn't think so but if the decks don't lock in at the 0 point then that's a sign that hey need to be calibrated.
I did it several time but the problem still there. Mine Rane 12 😢
I ended up selling mine because they would spin out of control even after Rane tried to fix it and sent me a new one.

got both of my 12s now.Im just getting used to the feel of them.I think i like a lower torque on these and i might put actual vinyls or old time codes on these.I m well out of practice on spinning platters.Ihave not tested if both decks are ok on the dots but next time im on them i will check .Took some pics of the new gear as well as video.Will post that soon

Has there been a re calibration because they drifted out of zero again? Do all spinning plater controllers need re calibration? If so im stickn with my DDJ1000 rkbx and Roland 707M, Hercules DJ Cntrl Starlight
I didn’t have to re calibrate after the first time. I’m not sure if this is applicable to other controllers I only have done this with the Rane Rane Twelve. I got another brand new Twelve and didn’t have to do this.

How bad is the problem and is it the same exact problem? I recently came across a thread on the Serato forum where another issue with the pitch drifting has been acknowledged by a Serato rep. Interestingly enough there are pictures of an MKII version that Jazzy Jeff used during one of his live streams. Maybe they fixed that issues with the new model and hopefully they can apply the fix to our models.

My MKII has been working perfectly so far. I saw on the Rane forum where a Rane employee told someone that this method should also work with the MKII. I have one MKI and one MKII. They are both matching up as far as the pitch is concerned.
