    Excellent, excellent step-by-step explanation of how to install a retractable ceiling fan. Also thoroughly explains the fan/remote control operation. Over the years I've watched many "how to " videos on TH-cam. By a wide margin this is the BEST I have ever seen. Was very helpful since my fan came without an explanation booklet. Much appreciated! 👍

    Good instructions. The only problem I had with it is that there are no explanations on how to route the green ground wire. The instructions with my fan were worse than useless, so I looked up on TH-cam and found you.
    If only yours had a ground wire like mine does.
    It's feed through the 4" pipe, but is too short to come out the other side.
    If I go backwards and pull the green wire out of the pipe then I don't know what to connect it to. The other green wire, the box, im at a loss, and I've done a ton of wiring before, but since I didn't design this I don't knew where to go. Grrrr!

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Which component has the ground? The control box? If that's the case, most junction boxes and ceiling mounting plates are made of metal and have a ground screw to you can attach the ground wire to. If you're saying that the fan unit itself has a ground wire in addition to the control wires, I'm not sure why that would be necessary since you only need one component to be grounded for the whole circuit to have a successful ground.

      @@ReviewedByPhil there are 2 green wires, one is pushed through the post that the fan will be hung from, but it barely makes it to the other end. so its useless to try and secure it to anything unless you pull it out and use it from that end. then you also have a green from the controller box, which will be pushed through the hanging bracket

    If there's a red wire from the ceiling, where does it get connected to, to the fan transmitter box for the fan??? Thanks for your help.

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends. Color coding is not standardized, so if the red wire is your hot/live power wire, then it should be connected to the black wire from the transmitter box, as shown at 7:21.

    Thanks for the extremely detailed video. I have got the same fan, but mistakenly the workers have installed the normal fan down rod in the ceiling (without any opening at the top to route the wires). It is also not possible to replace it as the gypsum false ceiling has occupied the rod from the top.
    Can i drill holes at the side of the rod on top to route the wires? Also the piece in the hanger which you have shown to "prevent the warping" would also need to be cut to make it fit in the existing rod.
    I hope you understand, and please advice can this or something else can be done?
    Many thanks.

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple problems with your proposed solution. First of all, it doesn't sound like you have access to the ceiling pan, where the power wiring for your fan is located. I think all electrical code requires that connections be made within such an enclosure for safety reasons. I'm not sure I understand where you plan on connecting the wires from the control unit to your power lines. Secondly, if you already have a down rod installed, even if you removed the bar at the top of the hanging bracket, where would you put the control unit for the fan, as it sounds like the rod would occupy its spot inside the canopy?

    Do you know if this fan is safe to use in my backyard patio?

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fan isn't really rated for outdoor use, as it is not weather sealed, however, if the area is covered and protected from rain or moisture that could get into the electrical components, that might work. You'll need to check with your townships code for outdoor electrical installations whether or not it would pass their safety inspection. Otherwise I would shop for an outdoor rated fan.

    How much area does it cover? Is it sufficient in terms of light as well as air for the 15 ft x 12 ft living hall?

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A 42" diameter fan is rated to cover about 144 sq ft (12 x 12 ft) area adequately for air flow. Since our room is just about that size and the fan is centered, it works perfectly for us. The light is okay and brightest in the center of the room and dimmer around the perimeter. It'll give you a "low-light" ambiance that's bright enough to see by but a bit stark on it's own. I would supplement with other overhead lighting or stand alone lights around the room for more focused bright light where you need it.

    How do you replace the light. The fan still works, but the lights went out after a few months. Any ideas?

    • @ReviewedByPhil
      @ReviewedByPhil  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The light connected to the controller unit via a wire clip, so I'm guessing the assembly is as replaceable as a standard bulb (just unclip and take out the screws holding it in). Where to buy this exact size/spec "bulb"? Not sure, but try reaching out to the manufacturer and see if they have such a replacement part they can send you. Might be covered under a warranty policy.

    • @ReviewedByPhil

      The top right button on the remote should be the light toggle, as shown at 9:17. This should turn off the LED light only but leave the fan running.

    • @ReviewedByPhil

    • @ReviewedByPhil

      There are three off buttons on the remote. One in the top right, just for the LED, and one at the bottom right, just for the fan. The "Off" button on the top left should turn off both the fan and light. If none of these buttons work, the remote may need to be re-synced to the transmitter, or there's a problem with either the remote or transmitter.
