Excellent, excellent step-by-step explanation of how to install a retractable ceiling fan. Also thoroughly explains the fan/remote control operation. Over the years I've watched many "how to " videos on TH-cam. By a wide margin this is the BEST I have ever seen. Was very helpful since my fan came without an explanation booklet. Much appreciated! 👍
I just run cable and installed for my brother in law, in his condominium, since he liked the one from mu house. Since im an electrician, it was for free to him.
Thanks for the extremely detailed video. I have got the same fan, but mistakenly the workers have installed the normal fan down rod in the ceiling (without any opening at the top to route the wires). It is also not possible to replace it as the gypsum false ceiling has occupied the rod from the top. Can i drill holes at the side of the rod on top to route the wires? Also the piece in the hanger which you have shown to "prevent the warping" would also need to be cut to make it fit in the existing rod. I hope you understand, and please advice can this or something else can be done? Many thanks.
There are a couple problems with your proposed solution. First of all, it doesn't sound like you have access to the ceiling pan, where the power wiring for your fan is located. I think all electrical code requires that connections be made within such an enclosure for safety reasons. I'm not sure I understand where you plan on connecting the wires from the control unit to your power lines. Secondly, if you already have a down rod installed, even if you removed the bar at the top of the hanging bracket, where would you put the control unit for the fan, as it sounds like the rod would occupy its spot inside the canopy?
It depends. Color coding is not standardized, so if the red wire is your hot/live power wire, then it should be connected to the black wire from the transmitter box, as shown at 7:21.
The fan isn't really rated for outdoor use, as it is not weather sealed, however, if the area is covered and protected from rain or moisture that could get into the electrical components, that might work. You'll need to check with your townships code for outdoor electrical installations whether or not it would pass their safety inspection. Otherwise I would shop for an outdoor rated fan.
Hm, it seems Lighttree is no longer selling this fan, but you can try the one from Southerns Lighting: geni.us/zCZw [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] which looks to be the same exact product.
A 42" diameter fan is rated to cover about 144 sq ft (12 x 12 ft) area adequately for air flow. Since our room is just about that size and the fan is centered, it works perfectly for us. The light is okay and brightest in the center of the room and dimmer around the perimeter. It'll give you a "low-light" ambiance that's bright enough to see by but a bit stark on it's own. I would supplement with other overhead lighting or stand alone lights around the room for more focused bright light where you need it.
The light connected to the controller unit via a wire clip, so I'm guessing the assembly is as replaceable as a standard bulb (just unclip and take out the screws holding it in). Where to buy this exact size/spec "bulb"? Not sure, but try reaching out to the manufacturer and see if they have such a replacement part they can send you. Might be covered under a warranty policy.
@@ReviewedByPhil everything was working well. Inc. remote. But now when I put on power instead of the light coming on first. The fan comes on full speed.
@rik11stang29 if you can find a part number on it (see 7:09) you might be able to find it online. Or reach out to the vendor where you got it from and see if they can help you out. They typically can order replacement parts for you, even if it's out of warranty.
I install the fan (fan In the video looks exactly like like mine) After almost a year the fan gave up. No power going to the fan. Neither the fan nor the lights is working anymore. There is power through the switch. It's just the unit itself. Anybody knows which part should I replace?
There are three off buttons on the remote. One in the top right, just for the LED, and one at the bottom right, just for the fan. The "Off" button on the top left should turn off both the fan and light. If none of these buttons work, the remote may need to be re-synced to the transmitter, or there's a problem with either the remote or transmitter.

This is the best detailed, concise, and clear install I've ever seen. Thank you. Great job!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate the positive feedback 😊
These are so cool, definitely going this route. Thank you for the thorough review!
Yes, we like ours a lot! We get a lot of compliments on it.
you are amazing at explaining, thank you!
That is a cool fan! Thank you, Phil!

Great video! Does anyone know how to pair the remote?
Do you know how to turn the auto fan feature off? Our fan keeps turning on, after the light being left on. Thanks
If there's a red wire from the ceiling, where does it get connected to, to the fan transmitter box for the fan??? Thanks for your help.

Well done. Thanks
Do you know if this fan is safe to use in my backyard patio?

I've installed retractable led fan it was amazing but after two it stop working. Can you plz guide me to solve this.
Sorry, I'm not sure what the issue could be. It would really depend on which part of the fan failed (motor, remote, wiring, circuit board, etc.)
great job
My remote isn't working. How do l connect it
Hey. So are you saying that with the 4" rod from ceiling to the bottom of the light is 13"?
Yes, that's right.
@@ReviewedByPhil perfect. Thank you for the reply.
I tried to use the affiliate link, but it won’t work anymore. What’s the exact product name? I’d like to buy the exact same one

How much area does it cover? Is it sufficient in terms of light as well as air for the 15 ft x 12 ft living hall?

Actually I don't want to do a false ceiling. So I am looking for something like this. Are there any other brighter fans.
Excelent tank you.

How do you replace the light. The fan still works, but the lights went out after a few months. Any ideas?

Any ideas on how to get the light to turn off when I press the off button? I want to have the fan on, but not the light and I can't get it to go off.
The top right button on the remote should be the light toggle, as shown at 9:17. This should turn off the LED light only but leave the fan running.
I also can't get the night light off. I've tried both off buttons and resetting at the switch, but nothing will turn the night light off. Any ideas? 🤞
How is the air output?
Good! I don't know the CFM number, but it is quite breezy on a hot day.
When I turn on the power switch on wall for the fan. The fan starts at full speed and nothing else work? Remote not working
It sounds like the RF control box inside is not working, or the remote is not properly paired with it to control it.

Most likely the receiver, as this is the part that receives power and communicates with the LED and fan controller.
