I bought mine in April. It's an excellent device. For some reason I no longer like sitting down Infront of a desktop pc or a TV to play games, which is why I stopped gaming over a decade ago. If there's ever a Steam Deck 2, I'd like three essential improvements: 1. Better battery life, 2. Better cooling if possible, and at least 2TB SSD as main storage. I don't mind paying a little more for these improvements.
I tried it and then returned it. Great system, but I could see a SD2 around the corner and I can wait. The fan is a blower. Air goes in the center and is spun, pushing it outwards in all directions. They block off 3 sides so air can be blown threw the fins off the heatsink. Think of a merry-go-round with 3/4 of a rail around it. Spin it, and drop kids in the center. They'll all get thrown out in one direction at the end of the rail. 😂
thats how a fan is supposed to work, also, valve has promised a SD2, but it will be much further down the line, and they will most likely not release one for several years.

Yeah, those would be great improvements. I was willing to open my regular SD to swap the drive for a 2tb and it helped a lot.

So far I haven't had any issues with it overheating. I haven't even noticed the screen getting hot like some devices.
