  • Hey guys! I wanted to show you my experience with lasik, incase you were considering it! I'm still shocked I went through Lasik and even more shocked that I can actually SEE without glasses or contacts. I've had glasses/contacts since 6th grade, so it was a big change for me! Let me know if you've had this procedure in the comments below or were you blessed with 20/20? Thanks for watching! #lasik #lasikexperience #DITL

    LASIK UPDATE: I went to my Lasik surgeon to see if I could get a corrective procedure because my right eye is still a little blurrier than my left because it was over corrected. The doc did a typography of my eyes and noticed my corneas were thinning. He was concerned of it being post op ectasia and would not allow me to do the corrective procedure. I got a 2nd opinion from another eye doctor to see if I had post op ectasia. The 2nd doc was not concerned but wants me to come in every 6 months to be sure. It’s been 11 months since I’ve had my lasik procedure done. I have a hard time driving at night. I see halos around all lights which makes it difficult to drive. My eyes are very dry and I have to use eye drops every day. My right eye is still over corrected at 20/30 and my left eye is 20/20. My right eye, being blurrier than my left, used to bother me a lot, but now I’m used to it and I try not to think about it. I still worry about my corneas thinning more as time goes on and developing ecstasia. I can’t confidently say that I would recommend Lasik to others. I don’t think I should have done Lasik and I’m bummed my doc. told me I was a good candidate for Lasik when looking back, I don’t think I was. If you’re reading this, please please do your research and understand the risks associated with Lasik. ❤

      Sorry you're having not entirely happy! Do you remember what your pupil diameter was and your cornea thickness? It may be helpful because a larger diameter increases the risk of halos and a thinner cornea increases the risk of ecstasia

I'm so excited yet so nervous! Your video was insightful in what's to come. I hope you are doing better as the days go by and your vision is coming in more clear on your right side. 😊 Also, i loved seeing your little guys, they are so cute! I'm a retired optician, so not a doctor, but some knowledge of the various surgeries to correct vision. One thing that was an instant red flag was being told you have thin corneas. That alone makes the risk factor go up. Even though not having to wear glasses or contacts was what you were hoping for you always need to remember that you only have one pair of eyes and they need to last you the rest of your life. There's many things much worse than having to wear glasses or contacts to see. At -3.50 your eyesight isn't really all that terrible. Your simply nearsighted like millions and millions of others that share the same issue as you. Aside from your glasses being slightly crooked on your face you look really cute wearing glasses. I'm assuming you were told no contacts for the two weeks prior to getting your surgery. So you've been wearing your glasses all the time for the past two weeks because you can't really see without them. If they didn't tell you the reason you weren't supposed to wear contacts is because contacts forms a groove where they rest on your corneas and they want that groove to go completely away so the surface of your corneas are as flat as possible.
    I read your update from a month ago and I'm sorry that things haven't gone nearly as well as you were expecting it to. Actually I'm not sure who told you that your right was overcorrected because if your vision in that eye is 20/30 your actually under prescribed. I'm sure you would see much better driving if you had glasses with a -.50 prescription in them. Your left eye seems okay if your vision is 20/20 in that eye. but you could war a -.50 prescription for that eye or no prescription at all in that lens. Also be sure to get an AR coating (anti-reflective coating on the lenses because that should help eliminate that haloing you see around lights. Your eyesight after nearly a year should be at no worse than 20/15 in both eyes. To achieve that you would need your glasses to be at Right (O.D.) -.75 / Left (O.S.) -.50.. As you know your corneas are now much too thin to even consider any type of surgery on your eyes. I am quite sure your going to need glasses at least part time for driving. By the way overcorrecting would be 20/15 which is what they should have gotten you to in the first place and didn't quite get there. There's no harm having your eyes overcorrected slightly because it actually allows you to see things better than if at 20/20. So why you were told you were overcorrected is completely wrong. By suggestion is that you need to go somewhere else and get your eyes examined for glasses and don't even mention anything about everything you have been through. Just be sure you tell them about your issue when driving at night with the lights or anything else.

      Lainey talked about thin corneas. Should she have gone for PRK instead of LASIK? Would removing less corneal tissue, as well as having the ability for this corneal tissue to re-grow, have made a difference?

  • @workwithtonyg.
    @workwithtonyg. ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had Lasik about 20 years ago and I had the blade cut my flap and folded both back did the laser and closed them back up , I had to be out of work for a couple of days to recover and heal and had to wear the patch covers over my eyes at night so I wouldn't rub them, but it corrected my vision to better that 20/20 for a few years now 20 years later my eyes are getting blurry again for my far away vision, which is what I originally had it corrected for the first time. My eyes are kind of dry during the day but at night and in the morning when I wake up, I need eye drops to help with the dryness. I'm considering getting it done one more time because I drive Truck for a living, and I need my eyesight to be good and not being to wear sunglasses is a real bummer in the summer especially. I have Transition Lense glasses, but they don't tint in the car or truck, which makes it a pain in the butt. Glad yours went well, and hope for many years of great site. Just be ready in your latter years they may begin to get blurry again like mine have.

But I slept 4 hours straight back home could not left my eyes opened! I convinced a co worker who hesitated a lot when I told her I could finally see me husband naked in the morning whitout looking for my glasses!😂 Both my children got their in their early 20 and are very happy with the result. I would do in again in a heartbeat if l have too. For me it was easier than to go to the dentist.. and now I’m starting to see blurry for my near sight as I’m getting older and if I can, I will have the surgery that will correct it. It it basically the same surgery as to have your cataract removed…

    I had Lasik done in France in 1999 when I was 24 years old. I’ve been wearing spectacles since I was 9 years old.It all went well and I didn’t had to wear any spectacles anymore and had a very sharp sight ( I was at -7 on both eyes). But already back than, my ophtalmologist told me that, with the age, the shortsightedness could come back. And it came like he said. Now, I’m 47 and I have to wear spectacles again, I’m at -0,75 on both eyes and +1.75 as well. I can still wear contact lenses, but wearing bifocal lenses is somewhat tricky ;-)

    Bath time had me LOL. My daughter used to scream so much when I washed her hair, my upstairs neighbor almost called DCFS on me. She checked with the boys across from her apartment, who knew me since HS and they assured her I was a good mom. Eventually as the lady upstairs and I got to know each other, she asked me about all the screaming. I told her that was me either washing or brushing my daughters hair. Until HS, I was the only one who trimmed it. Red wavy hair to her butt. She’d actually scream “You’re killing me, it hurts so much” while I trimmed her bangs. She’s now 34 and that lady upstairs has been my best friend for over 30 years. She spent Christmas with us this year because she’s lived in a different state for over 25 years, but we’re still best friends and laugh over our first impressions

    Can you do an update on how your eyes are now? I was about to get lasik and after reading the consent forms I am having second thoughts. Ahhh such a big decision because you only get 1 set of eyes. 😩

    • @LaineyMarieBeauty
      @LaineyMarieBeauty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can definitely update you! I have absolutely zero regrets and would recommend it to anyone. It's a game changer being able to wake up and see without having to put in contacts or wear glasses. My left eye is 20/20 and my right eye was actually over corrected and is 25/20. So my right eye is not as crisp as my left eye. It's a little blurry but not super noticeable unless I close my left eye but it's enough to bother me, so I'm getting my right eye fixed next month. Touch up procedures don't cost anything extra. It's included. Totally worth it! The procedure itself isn't fun but it's super quick and you can see the next day!

      Thank you so much for the update!! I just found you yesterday and subscribed. ☺️ So glad I found your lasik video. I have seen so many different experiences here on TH-cam…some people are super happy after getting lasik and some people with horrible outcomes. I’m sorry to hear one of your eyes was over corrected, I’m so glad they can fix it though! Over correction is one of the things I am afraid of. Still deciding if I am going to do it or not. I have the pre-op and procedure date scheduled but I am SO scared because I already have dry eye and I am terrified the lasik will make it worse. Did your dry eye get better??

      @@user-mr3wx3uu6c Thank you so much for following!! I had to use drops in my eyes every day for about 3 months then I used them maybe once a week then once a month. I don't use them now at all. My eyes feel normal! I know it's super scary but if you have a good doctor, you'll be fine! I was absolutely terrified to get it done but I'm so glad I did and I would go through everything again!

    Did you had to put drops every 40 minutes during the day or also during the night? Did you have to wake up to put the drops? What was the purpose of those night glasses?

    • @LaineyMarieBeauty
      @LaineyMarieBeauty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re supposed to put the lubricant eye drops in every 30 minutes to an hour for a week then it’s just as needed! But only when you’re awake. The night glasses are to prevent anything from touching my eyes when I sleep. ☺️💗

    I just got last done on 1/25/24. It hasn’t even been a wk. but I do see a little blurry and I’m having a really hard time driving at night. I see blurry and halos. Can Anyone else give me their feedback pls? I’m kinda bummed out 😫

    • @LaineyMarieBeauty
      @LaineyMarieBeauty  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Vision can be a little blurry up to 3 months after lasik. Definitely express concerns with your surgeon on your post-op check ups, so that they can keep an eye on it. Halos at night is, unfortunately, a side effect of lasik. However, your halos may subside as your eyes heal, or they may not. I see halos at night and have to wear glasses when I drive. Keep using lots of eye drops and be patient. Let your eyes heal. Wishing you the best with your vision!

      @@LaineyMarieBeautythanks for responding. I feel super scared to drive at night. It’s the blurriness at night that bothers me bcuz I can’t see. When you wear the glasses at night does it help? I dnt mind wearing glasses at night if it helps me. lol.
      I have a post op on Monday I will let them knw. Thank you!!! 🙏🏽

    My family has had lasik surgery on their eyes years ago and had great success with it. I can’t have it unfortunately because of a certain eye condition. All of my family had great success with it until just recently my sister has had to get bi-focals, but that is normal for her age.mid forty’s.

    ALL types of laser eye surgery are Russian Roulette anywhere because every eye operated on gets permanent corneal nerve damage which can result in horrific eye and even neuropathic pain which are incurable and there's no way to tell prior to ops who will react badly! No-one ever gets cured once they're damaged & virtually ALL of the surgeons who perform these ops wear glasses because they won't take the risk of their careers being instantly finished if they had ops and got problems but they're quite happy to profit from all those whose eyes and lives they ruin! 😡
