Sometimes I find myself keeping terrible contact hygiene so I come back to these videos every now and then to scare and motivate me into being more careful 😭
Hey if u can respond to my message fast thanks! I recently got contacts and inside the container after cleaning the solution I accidentally pored water into the container to clean out the old solution and rinsed out the water! Is that fine or not?
I was told by my eye doctor during my last visit to thoroughly dry ur hands well after washing to avoid the tap water from getting into ur contacts. She said there’s fungus & bacteria in tap water that could cause an eye infection. But then there’s always traces of lint from the towel, so it’s always gonna be a battle no matter what lol.
@@IKY94Zac So u just stand there for several min waiting for them to dry? Lol. I do like the paper towel suggestion tho! It sounds more sanitary too, as washing towels in the laundry washer doesn’t typically get rid of germs, bacteria, fungus etc.
I've followed nearly all of these good habits since I first got my contact lenses as a teenager because one of my biggest fears as an artist is losing my eyesight. I didn't know you were supposed to rub the lenses when you clean them though. I only rinsed them because I didn't want to accidentally tear them, but I'll start gently rubbing them now. I had a substitute teacher in high school who told the class a story about how her son fell asleep in his contacts and they got stuck to his cornea and tore it, and he had to have surgery to remove them and repair his eyes. He ended up being nearly blind in one eye. It terrified me, so I never even thought about sleeping in contacts.
It is never fun to hear these stories but unfortunately these things do happen. It can happen to anyone anytime even if they have had prior history of sleeping in contacts without problems. Let's keep your eyes safe!
1. Wash your hands 2. Put lenses in before putting on make up 3. Remove lenses before taking of your make up 4. Don't shower/swim with your lenses 5. Rub and rinse your lenses 6. Use a proper contact lenses solution 7. Clean your lenses box and change it 8. Always fresh solution, no top up 9. Spare pair of glasses 10. Don't overware your lenses 11. Don't sleep with the lenses 12. Don't use lenses when you are sick 13. Pay attention to the expire date 14. Don't share your lenses 15. Test your eyes regularly
I have back up ... contact lenses XD because of masks I don't wear glasess during my way to/from work, because I rather see poorly than not at all (beacause of foggy glasses)... so I have some one-day contact lenses at work in case I forget glasses again (I can work without glasses/lenses but it is pain in the ass and I do read/write sloooower - I have office job), also I am using public transport - just in case someone would think I drive car without glasses ;)
I have done that mistake a couple times, rubbed my eyes too much, and one contact ended up in the very corner of my eye, more than half of it hidden behind eyelid, very hard to get out and extremely uncomfortable, do not recommend! :D

I started wearing contact lenses at 12! Terrible hygiene between 12-14. I’m 25 now and I’m very smart & careful with them. My eye health is perfect every time I go in every year!😃
@anjuuuunabb69 can I ask you if wearing contact lenses makes your mind a little bit uncomfortable or if it is a hindrance to think creatively or properly like you can do without using lenses . because i always find not wearing lenses more suitable for studying nd all
this randomly popped up in my feed, but im here to say IT HAPPENED TO ME and i nearly went blind! i had basically 1 week to save my eyes doing intense treatment (some sort of parasite/bacteria went in my lens , and then i mixed right and left lenses in the case and it spread to both) for 8 days i had to put these drops in every hour day and night aka setting my alarm every single waking and sleeping hour for 8 days!! i managed to save my sight but for like two years i had crazy sensitive eyes to light, and it has left little dots in my eyes that can still be seen during exams (like small holes basically) there is so many things people aren't aware of thats risking their sight whilst using lenses. please be careful, i was lucky to have a good doctor care for me
@@MrsSurrealista even tho this happened to me i dont think it happens so easily, i think i got dust in mine when i dropped it and perhaps it didnt wash away or it could have been the water from the tap got into it, ill never know but i feel like it could have been one of those. *change cases every few months *dont mix right and left in the case / contacts * always have clean hands *never take out with wet hands!! *don't store ur contact case on the sink, have a clean spot to place the case :)

Thank you so much for this video!! I got told most (but not all) of this when I got my lenses but I just didn’t understand the purpose of it all which made it difficult to remember and actually be motivated to do. I’m thankful I understand why now and have learnt some new things too!
Not really, I pay $9.99 a year for monthly lenses. Cases are $5/3 cases and solution is $15 for a big bottle. So about $80/year for me. With the dailies that price skyrockets.
I've worn soft contacts for over 40 years and most of that was with extended wear lenses. The reason I use extended wear (like everyone else I know) is so I can sleep in them and wake up to clear vision. Never had an issue. I prefer Acuvue Oasys as they seem to 'breathe' better. I've tried AirOptics but they didn't fit as well and would sometimes slide out of position. When I do change over to my glasses, as I needed to do when working in a compounding lab, I followed the disinfection procedures you recommend in the video. That's just how I was taught at the very beginning of contact use. I'm surprised by some of the comments here from people who evidently didn't know or never had disinfecting procedures explained to them upon their first RX!
Hi, the extended wear is possible with some lenses but they should be recommended for that from the manufacturer and also your doctor should allow you to use this method. And you should check the time of wear, usually when you wear the lenses overnight, the time shrinks, so it would be a week for bi-weekly lenses and two weeks for monthly lenses (if the producer doesn't say any other recommendation).
Hi i never had glasses/contacts before, but i'm getting both this week. My contacts will be 'monthly' contacts...are 'extended wear' more expensive? And can any eye prescription get 'extended' lenses?
@@brianboston4744 You have to have a separate prescription (RX) for eyeglasses and contacts. If you request a contact lens RX, the optometrist can provide you with both a contact RX and a glasses RX. For the contacts, the doctor will prescribe certain brand/model of contacts depending on your eye measurements (base curve, diameter, sphere) and your requested usage. So be sure to tell him/her that you're wanting to try extended wear. Pricing for daily wear and extended wear are basically the same but you can save money by ordering online rather than buying from the optometrist. They have to give you the prescription that you've paid for but you're under no obligation to purchase from them and they usually charge much more. Also, if you have a membership at Costco, BJ's or Sam's Club, their prices are normally comparable to online pricing. The same thing applies to eyeglasses RX. You don't have to buy your glasses from the optometrist (be it Pearle Vision, Lenscrafters or Visionworks, etc.) but for your first pair, you will probably get a better fitting from them and they usually have a wide selection to choose from.
@@cpiper6338 oh wow thank you for the info! One more question,if i decide to not buy from them, how do i 'transfer' or prove what prescription i need when i order from somewhere else? I know i cant just get prescription contacts without proving a doctor gave the ok for that prescription,do i tell the new website i order from to call my doctor or is that stuff in some medical portfolio for all doctors to read?
@@brianboston4744 You are entitled to a copy of your eye exam prescription. If they don't offer you one, request it. Places like Pearle Vision, Lenscrafters, Visionworks, etc., make most of their profit from glasses and contact sales, so they tend to be overpriced (that's why they often offer a free eye exam). They're specially pricey on contacts. But they generally do a good job of helping you find a decent pair of glasses and fitting them properly. They also usually have lower priced brands available. Optometrists' offices normally charge more for contacts and glasses. My advice is to make an appointment with one of the eyewear franchises to get your eye exam and eyeglasses. Then take your contacts RX and order your lenses online. (As with buying anything else, shop around online to find the best pricing for the RX you have. Whether it's Acuvue, Air-Optics, etc.)
Dr. Thank you. I fellow all theses. I do my best to clean mine properly. I was told by a retired optometrist that you should never fly in your contacts either. The reason is the pressurized air dries out your eyes more and it can cause redness in your eyes, and it can also make your eyes hurt. I'm sure you knew that cause you're a doctor but I didn't know that. I rotate between my glasses and my contacts. I wear monthways, so there are some time when I go a week with glasses. Just gives the eyes a break
I actually did overhear a conversation between friends trying to buy coloured contacts when I bought mine at a convention and one said “would you wear them though when I’m not” and luckily the vendor stepped in but that could have been bad
When u wash your hands thoroughly b4 inserting or removal of contact lenses do NOT use a hand towel, it has hairs on it or tiny fuzz on it, no matter how clean u think it is. Use PAPER TOWEL to dry your hands + throw it out. That was taught to me by an Opthamologist + eye surgeon. I've been wearing lenses since 1980's
Thank you for the tips. I have a couple of questions concerning contact lenses. 1. Is it necessary to disinfect my contact lenses every day even if I don't wear them daily? 2. I have two different prescriptions, and I think I put the contact lenses in the wrong side of the lens case while cleaning them, but I'm not sure about it. What should I do in this case?
Absolutely, the general principles for handling and caring for contact lenses typically apply to both prescription and cosmetic lenses! 😊✨ Ensuring clean hands, using recommended solutions, and following proper hygiene practices are key to maintaining the health of your eyes, regardless of the type of lenses you're wearing. If you have specific instructions from your eye care professional or the lens manufacturer, make sure to follow those as well. Enjoy your new cosmetic lenses, and if you ever have questions or need tips, feel free to reach out. Here's to fabulous eyes and confident lens wear! 👀💄 🌟👁
i think i've been wearing the same pair of contacts for a couple months now. i usually wait about 3-4 months before i switch to a different pair. contacts are ridiculously expensive. haven't got a single infection and i've had them for 7 years, though
Dr. Pricilla Ho (O.D.) is dropping some serious wisdom! 🤓👁 Her discussion on good contact lens habits is a game-changer for us lens wearers. The fact that only 1% do it all is mind-blowing. 😱 Definitely taking notes to avoid those common mistakes and keep our eyes in top shape. Thanks for the eye-care gold, Dr. Ho! 👀💖 🌟✨
hi, thank you so much for this very helpful but I have some questions. 1. what if a little water gets into your eye with contacts on like for example you are on a ride at a theme park and the ride splashes so water in your eye is that okay? 2. can you go on high-speed rollercoasters with contacts in? 3. what can I do if my eyes are dry can I still put in eyedrops even with my contacts on. thank you!
It will be difficult to avoid water 100% of the time. If you are able to you can use some lubricating eye drops to flush out the eyes of contaminated water or replace the lens with a new one. If you can't, it's not the end of the world. In the end we can only try our best to minimise the risk of infections. Yes you can go on high speed roller coaster with contacts in! And yes you can lubricating eye drops in with contact lenses. Just make sure the specific eye drop is suitable for contact lens use. It should be stated on the packaging. Keep riding those roller coasters!
Let’s say I wear my monthly contacts one day and then don’t wear them for 4 days after that but decide to wear them on the 5th day… Do I need to change the solution everyday even if I am not wearing them that day?
I've worn soft contacts on a daily basis for 15 years, and have never had an eye infection despite less than ideal practices. I've always worn them for 2-3 weeks longer than recommended to save money, though just always worn glasses at night and made sure to not sleep in them, and used cheap Costco saline to clean and store them (f the expensive shit at drugstores fo $19+, i get three giant bottles for $7.99)
Same, they’re so expensive 😭 I think now that I understand the risks I’m going to try and prioritise it more in my budget and maybe get some back up glasses so I can save a bit of money long term by taking breaks from them. But sometimes you just don’t have options… I know a few years ago I wouldn’t have been able to afford these changes at all
I'mgetting my first set of contacts this week. They are 'monthly' contacts...would that make any difference for me buying the cheaper solution that you spoke of? My money is tight and i would like to get the cheap stuff to clean my contacts if it worked, but wasn't sure if daily or monthly contacts would matter?
I used to put on my lenses before makeup, like suggested. But whenever I was applying eyeshadow tiny pieces of it went in my eye and with lenses, it would sting for a long time. Now I put on lenses after I'm finished with makeup and applied eye drop. With clean hands of course, I'm careful to not touch my lenses with the fingers that touched my face and makeup. Does that work?
Your adjustment to putting on lenses after finishing your makeup routine makes perfect sense! 👁💄 It's crucial to prioritize eye comfort and avoid any stinging sensations. Applying eye drops before putting on your lenses can also help keep your eyes moisturized and comfortable throughout the day. Just be sure to maintain the habit of clean hands and avoiding any direct contact between your lenses and makeup-covered fingers. Sounds like you've found a routine that works for you! If you ever notice any discomfort or changes, don't hesitate to consult with your eye care professional. Here's to flawless makeup and comfortable lens wear! 😊🌟 💖👀
I was not aware of rubbing and rinsing lenses before putting them in the case overnight! I've been wearing for nearly 7 years and will definitely start doing that! this video also reminded me to change out my case.
Hi, I've been wearing lenses for abour 8 years now and I just found out that I'm doing two of these wrong. First - I sometimes sleep in my contacts, not often, but I wear lenses which are designed for continuous wear and my doc told me I can do it, when I need to sleep and I don't have my solution and case with me. I'm always trying to have it, but it's not always possible. Of course I always shorten the time I wear my lenses, if I have to sleep with them on. Second - I shower with my lenses. I wear them during the day and then in the evening, I take a shower and then I take them out, clean them and put to the case. When I wash my hair I don't wear them, because water gets to my eyes, but when it's only a shower without hair washing, the water doesn't get to my eyes at all.
I just started using colored eye contact lens that I bought online (to look cool and cosplay purposes) I use alcohol to wash my hands to put on my contact lens I didn't know that I should not use it to wash my hands, well now I know, well I've did it less than 8 times so I am still lucky that I didn't get any infections on my eyes and I bought contact lens solution that is multi purpose at the start because I feel it's important and lucky I did and because it's the most cheapest of it (Im still a teenager so I still no income only allowance) thank you for giving tips.
I wanted to ask if it’s okay to switch off between monthly contact lenses and daily contact lenses. For example, imagine I use monthly contact lenses for one month and the next month I use daily lenses and the month after that I’m back to monthly lenses. Is that safe to do or I have to stick to one option?
Yes that's perfectly fine to switch between different types as long as both types have been properly fitted and prescribed for you. I like daily disposables for holidays for convenience and monthly ones at home when I'm wearing them often. 🙂
Yeah those tips should be basic maintenance so nothing bad happens. Good advice and video for people with no serious eye condition. If you have to overwear and have serious cornea problems there is no "just take it out" and no "just wear your glasses". Those are no options unfortunately, especially if you have to use specially made hard lenses. Deem yourself lucky if glasses correct your eye vision still. Be thankful, really.
since we’re supposed to change out lense cases every 3 months, does that mean I can use the same case for two of my monthly contacts? Meaning if I am finished with one pair of monthly contact lenses, when I move on to the next pair of monthly contacts, can I use the same case for them?
I am going to start wearing contact lenses. I have a few questions. 1) during the day I wash my face multiple times. Can I wash my face with the lenses on? The answer seems like you can’t with soap or face wash or similar but can I wash it just with water? 2) I have prescription lenses and I have taken monthly lenses. Do I need to wash/clean my contact lens container every time I change the solution? If so, how?
I can only answer 1. You should never make your lens have the chance to touch water. Water is the worst thing that can come to contact with your lens. That amoeba lives in water and sticks to lenses and get into eyes that way. The infection caused by it can be extremely painful so don't.
I stopped wearing cintact lenses daily some months ago, and also only had done it for like 5 months or so. But except for most of the rubbing to clean and for the case care (I didn't as much as I should, I though that with just changing the liquid was enough) and also using my lenses for some time more than I should like 6h lenses for 8h or 1 month lenses for like 1/2 extra weeks. But I think that overall I did pretty good. Also, I preferred wearing glasses so, it was what I did as much as I could. Now if I comeback to lenses I'll know what to do :)
I started wearing contacts when I was in middle school. Back then, I would wear them for 5 days straight regularly. Thankfully I didn't end up with any noticeable complications, and now the only one of these directions I don't follow is that I shower before taking them off every day.
I wash my eyes with tap water sometimes (like I open my eyes in the water). And I had even opened my eyes in ocean water without wearing any swimming goggles, so is it that necessary to be so careful as to let my hands completely air dry before putting on contacts?
I'm using soft contact lenses for 15 years, never had any allergies or irritation but dryness and when your eyes dry no artificial tear can relax you untill you remove the contacts so i decide to wear specs it was a bit dizzy and foggy earlier but now I'm pretty used to it
I can't believe that as a teenager I would go weeks without taking out my lenses (they were called day&night) and I would just use eye drops a few times a day...
When the lenses are called day & night, they are designed for being used overnight as well. BUT this needs to be consulted with your specialists, you should never decide to do it without any consultation AND for this, you should keep the time recommended - for Air Optix Night and Day it's 30 days and 29 nights.
Thank you for this awesome video. I accidentally left my monthly contact lens inside the container with the liquid. Will those contacts still be good to use ?
I used to use a really low quality brand of contact lenses thinking they might be good , and yesterday i finally got bausch and lomb contacts and after i got it im seeing that brand everywhere including this video. I havent tried them yet but im excited.
Bausch and Lomb is a reputable brand. The best test of comfort is for you to try it. It is a very personal thing to say which brand works best for each individual. Good luck!
for the timeline at 2:41 , what type of disinfecting solution do we use to store the lenses ? can i use the same multipurpose lens solution too ? sorry i’m a newbie to this 😊
It has been such a long time. I went back to the footage to check it out and I believe it is the Freshlook Colorblends in Brilliant Blue. Not 100% certain on the colour though. Hope that helps!
Thank you! I keep my contacts and cases in a plastic open box in a cabinet next to my skincare etc. I always let the container and lids airdry in there but not upside down, because I don’t want the open parts touch the plastic box, and I figured there wouldn’t really get dust or dirt in them because the cabinet doors are mostly closed…. I don’t have a clean surface to keep the on top of…. I unfortunately do my skincare in the kitchen. Would this be okay? And how often do you clean the container you use for 3 months? Just a daily rinse and air dry? Or more thorough cleaning as well?
Same 😞 You’re doing the best you can! I wonder if taking them out and giving them another clean after the shower would help? I’ll definitely be trying to take shorter showers too
If I lost one of my monthly contacts (right one) and i found it on the floor a few hours later, am i allowed to clean the contact and put it in the disenfecting solution or i have to throw it out?
ii wash my hands with soap and water then dry them with a paper towel after that i put some of the cleaning solution on my fingers to get the lint off of my fingers after that i open my contact lenses and put them on
I have worn contact lenses for almost 20 years and never had to follow those strict rules. Never had any eye infection and got lasered a week ago. Bye bye forever glasses and lenses. ✌️
I've been wearing contacts for a few months now, they're yearly soft contacts. Something that has been bothering me is that, when washing my hands with the "poison" water (water bad for contacts), why is it ok to rinse my hands with that same water? Is it not possible to have some residue bacteria after rinsing? This is just a weird paranoid thought I have been having lately lol.
Any residual bacteria on your hands after washing with "Poison water" is destroyed by the contact solution. My optometrist told me it is safe to even wash out your contact case with regular tap water as long as you let it air dry completely and continue to use regular solution, because the solution kills any residual bacteria that could be left over, although this seems to be a controversial idea, I've done it for quite some time with no issues arising from using tap water to clean the case, I've just always been careful to let it completely air dry and most of the time, I fill it with solution after it dries and before I take my contacts out to kill any bacteria before I take my contacts out for the night, where I then put fresh solution in again. It's not something that I would recommend if you're using yearlies however, as any small risk becomes increasingly likely with every day you do it. I rarely clean my cases anywho, as they rarely get dirty, and a new case is about $2 anyway, so ask your optometrist and only do when necessary if another case isn't available IMO.
Those bacteria comes from bacteria living in tap water. So when your hand is dry and clean, its okay to handle contacts. Tap water is bad for contacts because of the bacteria in the water. Then you put your contacts in your lubricated eye. Great place for germs.
I have worn permeable contacts for more than 30 years and I've always clean the case with tap water. I change my cases every 2-3 months though and lucky me I never had any infections. Is Boston Simplus Multi- Action solution the same as the Mutlipurpose solution?. Thanks for the info doctor 🙏🏻
You're very lucky to not have had an infection!. The Boston simplus is the hard permeable contact lens version of a soft contact lens multipurpose solution. 🙂
I used to do that too, I even washed my contacts with tap water when they fell and didn't have solution at hand. Thanks to videos like these I learned that there is a very nasty bacteria in the tap water that can make you blind. I also showered and swim with contacts on. I am very lucky.
Generally, I would suggest that you should give your eyes a break from contact lenses. Whether that be 1 day a week, or when you get home, remove it and have a few hours without lenses to allow your eyes to breathe. It is a good idea to have a back up pair of glasses so you can use that at home or if you get an eye infection!
I have 2 questions. Question 1: After, a long day from work. I take out my eye contacts and put them in fresh solution. I take nap of 2 hrs before school. Can I still use the same solution when I’m off from school? Question 2: When I take off my eye contacts. And I just put them in their storage with clean solution. But, without rubbing them before. Then, the next day I rub them to disinfect them before putting them on. Is it okay? or do I need to rub them and disinfect before storing them everytime?
I got a question, I have never worn glasses but I am slightly myopic. I can see my monitor screen well enough at 1 hand distance. If I ever get glasses, should I wear them while using the computer? Or should I remove them? The reason why I haven't gotten glasses is because it's not that bad but also because I read that once you start wearing glasses your eye sight can worsen and your myopia can change. For me, it hasn't changed in 10 years. Thanks!
Hey Dr.Pricilla (Eyes Explained) ! I had a question for you! Sometimes I open a pair of my bi-weekly contacts, but after using them that day I don't use them for another two weeks....can you use contacts past the two weeks if you have only used them once or twice? Thanks! :)
Hello, I'm not Dr. Priscilla but I work as a customer support for a shop which sells contacts, and this is one of our most asked questions. No, you should not. The lense can be opened for 2 weeks, and it doesn't matter if you wear it only once or all the 14 days during this time. After 2 weeks pass, you should take a new pair. Some customers are trying to tell us, that it's limited by hours and when you wear them for just few hours a day, you can extend the time, but that is a lie too. Sad thing is that some of the eye doctors tell this to our customers and then they don't believe me when I tell them the truth.
i have a question since im new to all of this: how often should i put in a fresh solution into my contacts case? and how often should i clean the case as well?
Sometimes I find myself keeping terrible contact hygiene so I come back to these videos every now and then to scare and motivate me into being more careful 😭

this randomly popped up in my feed, but im here to say IT HAPPENED TO ME and i nearly went blind! i had basically 1 week to save my eyes doing intense treatment (some sort of parasite/bacteria went in my lens , and then i mixed right and left lenses in the case and it spread to both) for 8 days i had to put these drops in every hour day and night aka setting my alarm every single waking and sleeping hour for 8 days!! i managed to save my sight but for like two years i had crazy sensitive eyes to light, and it has left little dots in my eyes that can still be seen during exams (like small holes basically) there is so many things people aren't aware of thats risking their sight whilst using lenses. please be careful, i was lucky to have a good doctor care for me
Now I’m scared 😭
@@MrsSurrealista even tho this happened to me i dont think it happens so easily, i think i got dust in mine when i dropped it and perhaps it didnt wash away or it could have been the water from the tap got into it, ill never know but i feel like it could have been one of those.

*dont mix right and left in the case / contacts
* always have clean hands
*never take out with wet hands!!

Today i got my contact lens .I'm very lucky to find this video .thank you ❤
Thank you so much for this video!! I got told most (but not all) of this when I got my lenses but I just didn’t understand the purpose of it all which made it difficult to remember and actually be motivated to do. I’m thankful I understand why now and have learnt some new things too!
I agree, knowing the purpose makes it much easier to remember. Glad to hear you learnt a few things!
This is why I prefer using daily disposable lenses. Less hassle and less risks 🤓
daily disposable
But more cost 🥲🥲
@@dpaul3447yes but wouldn't the cost be equal to the amount you're also having to pay for your contact lens solutions and cases?
Not really, I pay $9.99 a year for monthly lenses. Cases are $5/3 cases and solution is $15 for a big bottle. So about $80/year for me. With the dailies that price skyrockets.
@@FartBox_BeatBoxis that with insurance?
Thank you for all the informative tips! Learning the reasoning behind the why's really does make a difference!
I agree! The why helps to enforce the good jabits!
That is true! The air on planes can definitely dry your eyes and contacts. Best to stick with glasses for flying 👓
I actually did overhear a conversation between friends trying to buy coloured contacts when I bought mine at a convention and one said “would you wear them though when I’m not” and luckily the vendor stepped in but that could have been bad
My contacts left me with very dry eyes last week, and i was so glad to have my backup glasses to be able to give my eyes a rest
Same. You can also use eye drops-articifial tears, they help big time.
Whichever has the least amount of lint/fuzz. Some hand towels are perfect while others not so much, while some paper towels have tonnes of fuzz.

I just got cosmetic lenses so this is really helpful. Hope this applies to them too, not just prescription lenses 😅
Don't worry, it applies to all contact lenses 🙂
Absolutely, the general principles for handling and caring for contact lenses typically apply to both prescription and cosmetic lenses! 😊✨ Ensuring clean hands, using recommended solutions, and following proper hygiene practices are key to maintaining the health of your eyes, regardless of the type of lenses you're wearing. If you have specific instructions from your eye care professional or the lens manufacturer, make sure to follow those as well. i think i've been wearing the same pair of contacts for a couple months now. i usually wait about 3-4 months before i switch to a different pair. contacts are ridiculously expensive. haven't got a single infection and i've had them for 7 years, though

hi, thank you so much for this very helpful but I have some questions. 1. what if a little water gets into your eye with contacts on like for example you are on a ride at a theme park and the ride splashes so water in your eye is that okay? 2. can you go on high-speed rollercoasters with contacts in? 3. what can I do if my eyes are dry can I still put in eyedrops even with my contacts on.
I guess I'm a part of that 1%.😌 Especially because I buy the contacts out of my pocket money, so gotta takd good care of them.

Let’s say I wear my monthly contacts one day and then don’t wear them for 4 days after that but decide to wear them on the 5th day… Do I need to change the solution everyday even if I am not wearing them that day?
No you don't need to change the solution every day when you don't wear them. Change it after 7 days of not wearing them.
Perfect timing!
Hi,
I've been wearing lenses for abour 8 years now and I just found out that I'm doing two of these wrong.
Only 2 wrong. Not too bad! It's hard not to get water into the eyes when showering. 😅
Great info..especially for the AK worm in tap water
I just started using colored eye contact lens that I bought online (to look cool and cosplay purposes)
I use alcohol to wash my hands to put on my contact lens
I didn't know that I should not use it to wash my hands,
well now I know, well I've did it less than 8 times so I am still lucky that I didn't get any infections on my eyes
and I bought contact lens solution that is multi purpose at the start because I feel it's important
and lucky I did and because it's the most cheapest of it (Im still a teenager so I still no income only allowance)
thank you for giving tips.
@@EyesExplained hi Pricilla, I’m intrigued to know what advantages you gain by wearing monthlies at home that dailies don’t give you.
Best habit for me has been switching to daily lenses. My eyes feel so much better
since we’re supposed to change out lense cases every 3 months, does that mean I can use the same case for two of my monthly contacts? Meaning if I am finished with one pair of monthly contact lenses, when I move on to the next pair of monthly contacts, can I use the same case for them?
Correct you can use the same case for 3 months with different lenses.
I just got my contacts today. Trying to start off right
Thank you very much for an amazing video!
It’s all that I need to know. Thank you ☺️
I am going to start wearing contact lenses.
Very good info, thank you for making this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You will be extra confident you're doing it right when you get back into contact lenses! 😀
I'm using soft contact lenses for 15 years, never had any allergies or irritation but dryness and when your eyes dry no artificial tear can relax you untill you remove the contacts so i decide to wear specs it was a bit dizzy and foggy earlier but now I'm pretty used to it
Thank you for this, you are a lifesaver 🙏🏽
You're welcome!
I can't believe that as a teenager I would go weeks without taking out my lenses (they were called day&night) and I would just use eye drops a few times a day...
WHAT? And your eyes are still healthy?
When the lenses are called day & night, they are designed for being used overnight as well. BUT this needs to be consulted with your specialists, you should never decide to do it without any consultation AND for this, you should keep the time recommended - for Air Optix Night and Day it's 30 days and 29 nights.

Or more thorough cleaning as well?

my lenses are a 6 month use thing but I don't exactly remember the expiry date. are there any signs my contacts are probably expired?
There won't be any obvious signs it has expired. If you're not certain, probably safer to change your lens.
For someone who has extremely poor vision, being able to see in the shower and when swimming is half my point of having contacts ☹️
I hear you 🙁
Same. So i just don't go swimming?
I was going to say, there’s no way I could shave safely if I didn’t wear my contacts in the shower.
Just wear goggles to protect the contacts

If I lost one of my monthly contacts (right one) and i found it on the floor a few hours later, am i allowed to clean the contact and put it in the disenfecting solution or i have to throw it out?
Throw it out. It would be dehydrated and the integrity of the lens has been compromised.
I would be shock if you can still pop it into your eye without serious pain. The exposed len dries up very fast imo.
I haaaate when I fall asleep and wake up realizing my contacts are still in 😭 worst feeling ever

How much did it cost you ?
Full house filter. Or wash your hands with a shower filter
Those bacteria comes from bacteria living in tap water. So when your hand is dry and clean, its okay to handle contacts.
Tap water is bad for contacts because of the bacteria in the water. Then you put your contacts in your lubricated eye. Great place for germs.
You're absolutely right! In the end water/moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria. Dry hands and dry cases are what we want! 🙂

Are you going to make more options for color contacts? I love changing my eye colors but am running out of colors
Hi! I would like to know on how long should I wear my contact lense in a day? Because my contact lense is graded so I wear it everyday.
Question 1:
After, a long day from work.
Thanks!
Yes I enjoyed this video even though I already have good routines :)
I'm so happy to hear you already have a good routine! 🙂
hehe glad to be part of that one percent!!

@@say94l Thank you for the information!
