PSA passed this Dagger with 1,000 rounds of free ammo from TH-cam reviewer to reviewer ... Pew Pew Tactical → Elfster's Rifles and Reloading → 704 Tactical → Hank Strange → Tactical Toolbox → Beyond Seclusion → ??? → Fit'n Fire.
This definitely appears to be the same Dagger frame initially reviewed by Pew Pew Tactical and posted to TH-cam on June 3, 2021 ... serial number FG010614.
Beyond Seclusion posted the most recent TH-cam review on September 30, 2021. You posted your TH-cam review on March 8, 2022 ... over five months later. When did you first take possession of the Dagger?
I was under the impression the round count was at 7,500 rounds at the completion of Beyond Seclusion's review. Did someone review the Dagger between Beyond Seclusion and you?
At one point, complete Dagger pistols and frames were exhibiting the Trigger Reset Function Check Failure. PSA redesigned the Dagger trigger in order to address the issue. It's believed that (at a minimum) PSA bent the sear of the cruciform up slightly in order to improve sear engagement. The Dagger you initially reviewed certainly wouldn't have had this design change. I suspect the sear engagement was well less than 100% to begin with (June 2021) and this simply became an issue over time (and 10,000 rounds). I suspect, had the Dagger had the newest trigger to begin with, it likely would have exceeded 10,000 rounds.

Thanks for watching! I received the Dagger just after the beginning of November. Between getting out to the range, the issues we had, the holidays, COVID, and getting this video out…that accounts for the delays. In addition, here is the email explaining who has had it…
“Here are the links to the articles for the description on your video so that folks can follow it from the beginning. You are starting at 8500 rds and taking it to 9500rds. Through Hank’s video, nothing has been replaced. Between Hank (5500rds) and Tactical Toolbox, we replaced the Guide Rod Assembly under normal maintenance. NOTHING else has been replaced on it.
      th-cam.com/video/9-6I534Tctk/w-d-xo.html - PewPewTactical
th-cam.com/video/EAdnlro9QT0/w-d-xo.html - Elfsters Rifles and Reloading
      th-cam.com/video/vshW162mRj0/w-d-xo.html - 704 Tactical
      th-cam.com/video/8GY10VsYgYk/w-d-xo.html - Hank Strange

      th-cam.com/video/dzTtxYnQAsU/w-d-xo.html - Beyond Seclusion
Good insight on the redesign of the trigger. I agree that the newer one may have had a positive impact.

@@FitnFire That's interesting. On September 30, 2021 Beyond Seclusion (from his TH-cam video description) said, "The Dagger has been a long time coming, was it worth the wait? Let's review the Dagger after 7,500 rds. I tested 8 different brands of ammo and accuracy with 4 different types of mags including a drum from 10 yards to 100. It had 6,500 rds through it when it came to me (see links below)." So it's a little unclear to me how it got from 7,500 rounds when it left Beyond Seclusion to 8,500 rounds when you received it. It's not terribly important. I just thought given the five month gap and the "missing" 1,000 rounds that someone else may have reviewed it. No big deal.

I got my Dagger last week. Trigger was as expected haha but still okay. I fired 100 rounds of blazer brass 124 grain. No misfires or failure of any kind. Another 100 rounds of Tula 115 grain aluminum casings. No firing issues period. Trigger pin hasn’t moved in 200 shots as other have complained about. So far this gun has exceeded my expectations in every way. For a $320 pistol “with night sights” it’s actually very impressive. Thank you for your video, it was very educational. Hope my comment helped those on the fence about getting one. Also note I was using magpul 15, 17 and 27 round magazines. All feed perfectly as expected from Magpul.

I do own a PSA Dagger, however, I have been following the trials and tribulations of that particular pistol, 11.500 rounds later, I"am nothing short of impressed, very little in the ways of wear and tear on that pistol for as many rounds fired, parts replacement at that many fired is not unusual for less rounds fired on other pistols, for a economical piece I"am indeed impressed. Most people who buy one will never in their life time put that many rounds through it anyway. I will still wait a while to see what other pistols in that genre come out from PSA....Its too bad that PSA did not introduce another version that takes down with a level like the M&P and the SIG, but if PSA made both they have sure winners. Thanks for the video and thank You PSA for doing what your doing.

Never heard of changing the trigger bar and striker as routine maintenance even at 10,000rds...as routine maintenance the springs yes of course but didn't realize the firing pin and trigger bar is required maintenance at only 10,000 or less.

    • @wickedbeernut
      @wickedbeernut 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It's not a maintenance issue. PSA redesigned the Dagger trigger in the October timeframe in order to improve sear engagement. This Dagger (which was likely manufactured in the May timeframe) wouldn't have had the redesigned trigger.

    • @FitnFire
      @FitnFire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I would say inspect the impact surface and the sear interface for wear. If you have an inspection plate, you can check sear/striker interface to make sure there's enough 'overlap' to be safe.

    I love the Dagger Slide.
I Put a $199 & tax FDE SW4 GatorMouth cut, RMR milled, threaded barrel, suppressor sights complete Slide on my G19X frame & it runs flawlessly.
It's a great & cheaper alternative to sending my stock slide off & having it milled, cut, etc. to match the PSA SW4 Dagger GatorMouth Cuts. Not including the sights, 4.5 threaded barrel, internals, etc.
1 issue I found is- For some reason the safety plunger sticks when I try to install a Gen 5 extractor. So I just stuck with the Dagger internals. (Was hoping my G19X extractor would work but not)
    I Put a on sale ($225) Holosun HE (elite) 407c x2 green 2moa Dot on her & now I have a stock G19X & a Micro Dot Slide.
The FDE is slightly lighter in color than my frame but who cares.
Just swap out backplates & it'll run perfectly. You can even install a Gen 3 Slide Release/Lock in the Gen 5 frame.
    So the Dagger Slide fits Gen 3-5's 19's, 23's & a few others. 🤟
I can say, my trigger is even better with the Dagger Slide on my Gen 5 G19X frame.

I got my dagger shipped to me in mid February 2022 and it’s been nothing but problems. Right out of the box it was dropping the magazine with the supplied Pmags every other shot. PSA sent me a new barrel and magazine catch to replace which I did. It seems to fire OK now with Pmags and Glock mags, but it’s still drops magazines while shooting with some other brands of magazines like KCI. My trigger pin is also walking badly after only 100 rounds. You can push it back in but that shouldn’t be happening. PSA is sending me a replacement trigger pin. These kind of known issues shouldn’t be happening in a gun that’s been out already for over a year and a half or more. It’s a good concept for a good price point, but if it isn’t reliable then it’s worthless.

Well glock (perfection haha I've owned about 20 over the years). I can't tell you how many problems glock had over 40 years with every single generation. In many cases glock blamed their problems on the shooter, when it was in no way the shooters problem, glock owned it.
Psa does have some growing problems being the first pistol they build but PSA stands behind their products and steps up when something goes wrong.
I don't know how long you''ve been into guns but if you buy a gun any gun for self defense that gun needs to go through a long period to make sure it's going to be reliable and if it isn't make it reliable or just go to the next and start all over again. ALL GUNS BREAK sooner or later.
PSA is a great value twice the gun at 1/2 the price.. glock is overpriced!

I think you're wrong on your thought process of how the Dagger was released without being optics ready. Optic ready pricing isn't too far from other pistols, but the stock model at $300 got everyone's attention from the git go. THEN, they start offering other options and everyone is watching. If they would have come out with all the options up front, a lot of people wouldn't have paid it any mind. The $300 price tag got my attention, where a $400-500 pistol wouldn't get my views.....got my attention so we'll that I have 2 Dagger's....both with nite sights, 1 with stock bbl and 1 with a threaded bbl.

Mag drops out of mine every time I pull the trigger after about two mags. It does it with Glock, Pmags and Amend 2 mags. I bought PSA Dagger lower and PSA upper with everything barrel and recoil spring. I have a CMC threaded barrel and a loan wolf guide rod. Sent it back to PSA they had it for a month sent it back after two mags it drops out after nearly every shot. They are sending me a new mag release and spring and I got a new RMA. I think they should have replaced that right off the bat. I know Im not the only one with this issue so I hope their gun smith can figure it out so people dont have to go through what I am. They have had my gun more then me.

The locking block when combined with aftermarket barrels are what causes the mags to drop. The barrel tilting down under recoil is striking the top of the magazine. Some barrels are much worse than others too

You say people want red dots, yes until they start using them. Red dots are problems in many areas, they break all the time ,they cannot be hit or dropped they will break. They are too expensive and the cheaper one don't work right.
The Dagger is a good gun especially at the price and glocks don't work 100% of the time and they are not perfection, glocks are the "number one returned gun" to dealers.
I just skipped a lot of your video because I couldn't hear what you were saying when you were outside. 99.9% of gun owners will never put anything close to 9/10 thousand rounds through their gun, especially at the price of ammo now.

None of my red dots have ever broke. Sage Dynamics does drop testing and the majority of Holosun options pass. Don’t like red dots? Fine, but they are not problematic like you say and I have them on all my carry pistols what has been thru many training courses with no problems.

I belong to two shooting clubs and every single red dot owner, including me has had problems with red dots period. Battery problems, staying zeroed, etc.etc. Many just quit working when they are out of warranty. Many have problems using them and end up tossing them in a drawer and going back to regular sights. Red dots are fussy devices no where in the realm of metal sights. Believe whatever you want but there's just to many people shilling for the red dot companies. Red Dots are over priced and under producing gadgets

@@intheknow3431 the vast majority of people are spending money for Holosun 507c, Swampfox, etc. Red dots are a here to stay and LEO departments are converting to red dots on there service pistols. Your logic doesn’t pass scrutiny when red dots on rifles are a fixture now. The reason you’re having problems is because you’re getting what you pay for. If you’re not willing to spend the money for quality products then don’t complain about all the cheap stuff you’re buying.
I too belong to clubs and see everything people are using around here. RMRs, 507cs, Swampfox Krakens, etc. have not failed. However, the $120 options always have problems…i.e. Burris Fast Fire 2s and the alike.
Again, watch Sage Dynamics torture tests and see that you are getting what you pay for. If it doesn’t work for you, then don’t use them and stick with irons. But, you’re the exception not the norm.

If a G19 holster doesn't fit the Dagger, it's typically too tight. I have a list of over a dozen holsters specifically designed for the Dagger. Unfortunately, TH-cam won't allow me to post the link here. However, I can share it via the PSA Dagger Facebook Group.

    1. Dagger fanboys will be humbled.
    2. It shows what that "just as good" mentality can get you.
    3. That this firearm has faults.
    4. It broke in an area that if anything was to break, it broke where it "should have" in the sense that it wasn't an abnormal place to have issues etc.,
    5. PSA will definitely fix it, because they're an amazing company that rights their wrongs, and improves their products.

The Dagger really didn't "break" per se. I'm confident the sear engagement was marginal at the time this Dagger was manufactured in May 2021. This was a known issue with the Dagger and has since been resolved. PSA redesigned the Dagger trigger (along with several other Dagger parts).

    • @Place_to_keep_videos

With the trigger bar showing wear, would that mean the safety actions of the trigger would be inactive? Would a spontaneous discharge occur if it was bumped too hard or inserted into holster too quickly? I have a Dagger and replaced the mag with a Glock mag, should I replace the trigger bar with a Gen 3 trigger bar? Not an expert on this, so bear with me if I missed something. Cheers!
