    For my first compound bows I bought shop Ex demo 6 months old top end bows, you save $300 to $400 plus and you still get full warranty. You save enough to buy nearly all the accessories you need. I've always been a great believer in second hand new...👍👍

      @@DeadHeadArchery I guess what really help me was a few marks on the bow from people trying it. When people buy a new bow they want it right out of the box. He told me he'd rather sale it at a loss than not sell it at all. It's maybe not the colour I really wanted but I can live with that...

    Great video. Thanks for sharing.
    I go in almost the exact opposite thought process as Bruce does. I will buy new ones from a good shop. Get a bow, and accessories. Shop typically will set it all up and take you through the tuning process for the cost of the bow. Really good shops will give you range-time with the purchase of a bow. Really really good shops will actually give you range-time for any purchase. Like 1 hour of range time for each $100 spent. Good for the archer as you get good practice time, and GREAT for the shop as the more time you spend in the shop, the more you're likely to spend. Also, a full range tends to bring more archers back in. Shooting with people is way better than shooting alone in the backyard...

Then I would suggest looking at a bow that’s within your budget (something mid range always offers great value) and start with a very comfortable draw weight. You can always increase your draw weight as you progress. Thanks for watching the channel and we wish you the best! Happy shooting!

      So most of that should be done at pro shop but to get you started with a ballpark on your draw length, measure your wingspan and divide that by 2.5. Peep height should be measured when you’re at full draw so you can align the peep housing with your sight housing. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions. Just depends on what you’re looking to get out of your personal archery experience, traditional bows and recurve bows can be very enjoyable to shoot. If accuracy and reaching further yardages is your main goal, you can achieve this much easier and quicker with a modern compound bow using a bow sight. A good archery shop should be able to get you on target with a compound bow on your first range session.
      Whatever you choose you can practice to be good with any bow, you can’t deny modern tech on compound bows though and the benefits they provide.

      The hood thing about buying from a shop is that you get the service and knowledge of the bow techs. You don’t really get that from employees at big box stores. You can buy a mid level package bow and be out the door anywhere from $500 to $700. If you are looking to save even more $$ then look for a bow that an archery shop has on consignment.

      That’s what a carbon bow will cost, the top of the line aluminum bows are all in the 1k range

    For the beginner’s guide it already complicated from the very beginning. And not much info about how to choose a bow and what to look at except price tag

      Thank you for watching. It depends on what you want that determines what bow you get. We are just trying to show ppl everything involved when you buy your first bow.

      It’s to help beginners know what to expect when they buy their first bow and hopefully not be overwhelmed with all the options.

    I'm 15 miles north of Temecula, I don't have Temecula money🤣. Is it possible to find something for about $350 to be able to go out and shoot? Will it be lethal?

    • @DeadHeadArchery
      @DeadHeadArchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      as far as a compound goes, not really. you could be out the door with a recurve setup for that amount. It is still lethal but takes much more practice and patience. I think the cheapest compound setup you can get would be the BEAR Legit for $450, $550 w/ arrows, around $600 out the door after tax. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the video.
