I'm just going to call 15 "The Love Doctor" he has shown more empathy and kindness towards himself than any other Doctor has. I've never seen a Doctor happy to meet himself, but these two hug, that's the first thing they do after separated.
I was under the impression that- because Bi-Generation is a myth, the only reason they were able to do it was due to the influence of the Toymakers domain making the impossible possible
It's like the Doctor said, the Toymaker doesn't follow the usual science and chaos based laws of the universe so his presence creates new laws of the universe.
Something so touching about tennant referring to rose as his niece implying while donna is his best friend, he thinks of her as a sister basically. That got me to tears honestly
It's been wonderful to see a close friendship between two people presenting as opposite sex to be so enthusiastically platonic. Since the revival there's always been a weird tension to have a romantic thing between Doctor and companion (with the exception of 12 and Bill) and it's nice to see two people love eachother so dearly and be okay with just leaving it at that
Wasn’t it in the Pompeii episode that they were mistaken as brother and sister because people thought they looked alike? 😅 They are very much family and I adore that.
The way I see it, this episode marked the perfect ending for the NuWho era (9 to 14) and amazing clean slate for The Whoinverse Era (15 onwards) to start from
Honestly, this also feels like a pin being put in Classic Who. The real Doctor has retired, and now the new Doctor that was literally *pulled* out of the original one has taken up the mantle and will continue to have adventures. The original will likely go on to eventually become the Curator.
I concur. It acknowledge, treasures, respects the previous Doctor even the series that some Whovans disliked. What I loved is the joy and care in how this was made especially the care of storytelling including the care of characters involved. There were some moments in which some people will complain about being too woke but when not the whole plot point but in passing it didn’t bug me. I wish the 13th had been handled as well but that is history now and still needs to be honored. Point being The Doctor is back! And it don’t need to be perfect as Doctor Who was never perfect which seemed to make even more endearing.
@@filthycasual8187I think ncuti is still the original doctor. 15 does say he’s okay because 14 fixed himself and that they’re doing rehab out of order. 14 also says that 15 is older than him. This means 15 is from the future and was pulled back in time when the bigeneration happened. 14 will eventually regenerate into 15.
Bigenerational from what I can make out from BTS and dialogue... This is not two doctors, this is still one Doctor. 14 will eventually regenerate completely in to 15 at the point we see him do it here. 15 comes from WAYYYY in to the future in a way, after 14 has lived a normal life. 14 is effectively living a normal-ish life as a means to rehabilitate himself and for once in his existence, rest. When he has done that (maybe a million years like he said to Donna in ep2) he will be ready to go and the time line goes back to the regeneration in to 15. It's a bit like a meta Crysis but rather than two timelords at the same time, it's one split over two timelines
This message needs to be highlighted because I think a lot of people aren't getting it. There are two doctors yes., but there are always 15 of them (more actually if you figure future doctors) roaming around any and all timelines. NOW., this basically happened with the Doctor and River Song......, as they spent 24 years together ...... but it was still a great way to give 10/14 the happy ending that Capaldi's doctor got.
I bet 14 will be the Unit scientific advisor if that spinoff happens, maybe not a fulltime member of the show, but someone who they call in from time to time.
This is the only way it works in my mind. Any other way just creates too many compilations. Plus Ncuti said 'the only reason I'm fine is because you fix yourself, we're doing therapy in reverse." Kinda settles it for me.
When you put it like that it makes sense (other than Tennants TARDIS must get lost or destroyed in the future at some point). I personally have struggled with this bi regeneration, as your explanation of the regeneration process makes sense. It just doesn't come off that way in the episode, as I think your comment happily explains. I can live with the 2 Doctors 2 TARDIS arc if the 14th sometime in the future regenerations going back in time to that moment. It wraps it up neatly. For 15 to move forward without past mental baggage. I just would have liked that explanation made clear...not a statement by Ncuti that its therapy in reverse. Your understanding of this fluke split regeneration makes total sense. Which makes watching Ncuti's Doctor series alot more palatable to go forward, knowing its still just 1 Doctor and not 2 seperate twin Doctors. Thanks for the very needed explanation.
Ncuti came in bringing that real "Doctor" energy and more! I love how they didn't write Wilf out. That was touching. And dang! I didn’t know Neil Patrick Harris was so talented! This episode was a banger🙂👍
I think the ending with Ncuti and Tennant was a beautiful representation of a crucial part of recovery from trauma - learning to cut yourself some slack, to give that hurt and traumatised part of yourself some compassion, understanding and love. As someone who is slowly learning this through psychotherapy, seeing Fifteen hug Fourteen and say “I’ve got you” resonated deeply with me ❤
28:28"Something that I've wanted for the Doctor for so long" -- so well said! Yes, I was wondering how 15 would shed the burdens of all his NuWho predecessors for the new season. This solution is so lovely. We get to have 14 chill and heal. It's wisdom for us all in a frenetic age; if we want to help and heal others, we need to take care of ourselves. What an empowering message.
I hope that 14 lives a happy life, getting the "reward" he was denied when he was 10. Then, when he is ready, he will somehow loop back to this moment and regenerate into 15. The arc will go from being bitter about his fate and not wanting to go, to him having his reward and saying "I'm ready to go"
I absolutely love that 15 is "Fine" because 14 spends the time fixing himself. Wonderful way to move the series forward while addressing all the trauma the Doctor has been through for so long. Rehab out of order.😭
That could explain why 15 is so happy. 14 had the chance to be happy and heal. Possibly merging in the future with 15 and next moment 15 turns to 16. That would be a good progression just in case they wanna play with a new doctor again.
Am I the only one that thinks that the new ideas this anniversary trilogy are so brilliant in not only bringing so many fans back together and putting smiles on their faces?
You're definitely not the only one who loved these specials they reminded me of the first four seasons and I think those people who called them woke are hypocrites cause they didn't say that about 15 years ago
@@lordfoul6259 Doctor always had some weird changes for the tolerance. Pretty much every time Doctor went into some old era, we would have black people in places, where they weren't supposed to be. So its very hypocritical of that crowd to pretent like Doctor wasn't doing that before. These specials were amazing and clearly have a lot of hype behind them. Originally I was going to skip the 15th doctor, but now I'm actually intrigued with how RTD is gonna do his story.
@@danielkiran8174 exactly like those people need to rewatch the first four seasons with RTD and then compare them to these specials and they'll see the show's basically back to the way it was before as for the 15th Doctor I had my reservations but I just wanted to see his portrayal of The Doctor before I made up my mind and now that I have I like him so far
It also runs back to the 50th anniversary episode "The Day of the Doctor" where Tom Baker's doctor mentioned he would be going back and revisiting a few of the favourite faces. Maybe Tennant's Doctor becomes The Curator now.
I think this is the best ending of Tennant era. It makes his enclosure to a close. And due to the concept of Regeneration Split. David currently still technically being on The Doctor role. This also enclosure of 50th anniversary as The Doctor retires as the Curator, regenerated as Tom Baker possibly his final Regeneration.
"And in years to come, you might find yourself revisiting a few. But just the old favorites, eh?" Note the plural - The curator wasn't just speaking about his own face. In fact, the whole thing back then might now seems almost like a premontition of bringing Tennant back,
@@toomastom3827 Regeneration Split is not acting like Meta Crisis. This is basically clone himself. With timelord status still intact. Means that David can still regenerate like usual. He is still the Current Doctor and still have ability to regenerate. Possibly The Toy Maker respinsible to caused Bi-Generation. So in Theory, if I was right. 14th can still regenerate to other faces. We got 2 Tardis as a proof. He is still is The Doctor. So we still have both 14th and 15th. Endless possibilities.
I absolutely loved this! The story was just as bonkers as 1966's "The Celestial Toymaker" with the Toymaker creating duplicate TARDISES for Steven and Dodo to play games to find the real one. How wonderful for Melanie Bush to make a triumphant return! This episode gave Mel more character development than she ever received in her original run. The 15th Doctor has so much infectious energy, and I am incredibly excited to see his adventures.
Neil Patrick Harris was a wicked delight throughout the final special. I love 15 with his charm and his energy, and I LOVE the ending for 14 and Donna. I’m sure there are those who aren’t happy with the controversial twists. I had my reservations when I first learned about these developments. But those went away once I saw it all action. Very unconventional yet full of exciting possibilities. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
It feels like it’s a little cap on everything. People who don’t like it can stop and say the doctor retired if they like, others can go on with Ncuti on more adventures.
Took decates but Mel is finally allowed to use a computer! A fun theory I've heared is that the 14th is going to become the curator of the 50th anniversary. I really love that idea. He is just this grandpa Dr. who resides on earth has a chill live and revisits old favorits.
My understanding is that 14 doesn't get anymore regenerations. When he eventually dies he'll come to as 15 in this moment against the Toymaker. And he'll be in a postion to hold his old self and let him cry and tell him to take a rest because he's spent his last life going to family potlucks, and sneaking his niece to Mars and sitting in his grief, talking over his past with his best-friend/Sister until he finally reached a point where he could tell himself he'd only ever done his best, and that's good enough.
i think this is the beginning of The Curator from the 50th special. When he said "you will be revisiting some of the old favorite faces" and just living his best life retired and taking care of the museum.
Speaking as a Scot myself, I just love the fact that 15 has a soft Scottish accent. It's not as prominent as McCoy's or Capaldi's iterations of The Doctor had but I will take it.
Definitely my favourite of the specials. Bigeneration is a concept that sounds stupid at first, but it's really no different from the Doctor regenerating and flying off to other times with other Doctors still existing. It just means that 14 will eventually become the 15 that comes out of Past 14.
If that's the take. I can live with that bi regeneration healing out of order, however if it is the case and 14 eventually regenerates back to the bi regeneration time....then wheres Tennants TARDIS go. As it's the original TARDIS. Not a prized duplicate.
@@Sam-zu5mrI just assumed that, like 15, it was the same tardis and when 14 eventually regents into 15 or however it is resolved, the two tardises would remerge
@@tardisinformationsystem apparently not according to RTD who wrote it. His reasoning was that he wanted a way for all past Doctors to live on, instead of just dying and passing onto the next incarnation. So in his mind the bi regeneration has happened to every past Doctor and they all have thier own individual TARDIS to continue travelling the Whoniverse. Which is some serious messed up thinking by RTD. So in essence 14 does not go back to that moment to become 15...15 is his own Doctor seperate from 14. It's weird, but I didn't write it. Blame RTD.
@@tardisinformationsystem under RTDs logic, you can expect every future regeneration of this new Doctor to be bi regenerations going forward....not an individual regeneration as we've been used to.
As a Whovian who has really stuggled to watch since Capaldi and never actually finished Jodie's run I am so excited to see where this goes! I'm so happy RTD is back in charge. It feels like the soul is back in the show. I'm so happy with what they did in this ep, it rounds off and resolves a lot of the nonsence that were brought in the last few seasons. Eeeeeee!!!!!
The Giggle was perfect. This was truly the first of these specials that felt like a celebration of 60 years of Doctor Who. I loved the framing device of John Logie Baird and the invention of television. Really reminded me of that episode from series 2 about Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. It had all these great callbacks and mentions to so many characters, most if not all of whom are no longer accessible to the Doctor like Amy and Rose Tyler. Is it wishful thinking to hope that no mention of Martha means Freema Agyeman will pop up again soon? Even though it's very clear that she wasn't mentioned because she lived a happy life and their story didn't end tragically. Neil Patrick Harris was fantastic! I loved the switching of accents. Evil camp is always fun, especially when it’s as sinister as this was. And the “Spice Up Your Life” dance sequence. I still have no idea what the hell bi-generation means. I mean we heard from all the Doctors previously in the reboot that regeneration was super dodgy but making a whole new one is not a twist I was expecting! But this establishes that in a one-on-one-hundred-million-billion-billion chance, Time Lords can reproduce asexually. However how many times can the Doctor make a copy of themselves? The end fight with the Toymaker had the frenetic pace of Ten's fight with the Sycorax way back in 2006. I loved Ncuti’s energy. He really felt like a showman, much more than the other Doctors previously. And because they said he processed his trauma, Fifteen seems like he’s going to be a Doctor who is having fun and not haunted by his dark deeds or running from something. Which is a Doctor RTD never gave himself the chance to write. It's like Fourteen was supposed to go on this journey of trauma healing and at the end regenerate into the happy and fun Fifteen but the Toymaker got in the way. And it looks like we have another RTD mystery box on our hand with The Meep’s boss still left unanswered and now the Toymaker’s “The One Who Waits.” Let’s face it, it’s probably The Meep’s boss. I love that Fourteen’s costume got split between the two so Fifteen spends the entire episode in underwear! But because he got the shows, not only does Fourteen speed the entire 3rd act barefoot and commando, which is hilarious in and of itself, Fifteen feels even more naked. Donna’s “Do you come in a range of colors” is perfect because it addresses Ncuti’s blackness without making it a big deal. _Because It’s not!_ I love that they let Ncuti keep his true accent. I love that we didn’t have to say goodbye to Tennant again. Not really. That scene of him having lunch with Donna's family, really his family, was just perfect and I'm happy that his last words are technically “I’ve never been so happy in my life." You can really hear Tennant’s Scottish accent on “wheelchair accessible.” It really feels like they are setting up a UNIT spin-off. And I am here for it! I need it to be Kate, Shirley, Mel, and the Vlinx, whatever the hell that is, and maybe Osgood (fingers crossed).
Not only I loved this episode and the whole bi-regeneration thing, but also, I can't even begin to explain how heartwarming it was to finally get closure for Donna having the happy and fullfilled life she deserved with her memories and his best mate back, but to have my fav Doctor back as a better version of himself, having grown a lot from Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, and to finally see him settle down, relax, being happy and loved. It was beautiful. And I know it's controversial, I've already seen people going crazy about it and I'm just meh. The thing is Doctor Who is a series when you can literally do ANYTHING and it will fit perfectly. The sweet point is to do so by doing it the right way, well explained and emotionally driven. For example, the controversial ideas that Chibnall brought into the table wasn't really bad. I can take them any time. The problem was the execution, the lack of sentiment and consequence of all that. I don't care if the Doctor is or isn't a Time Lord or if he's an entire different species, or even if he's some kind of demigod. My issues were that Chibnall made me feel NOTHING from it. I felt more about the entire flux thing in the brief conversation Fourteen has with Not-Donna in Wild Blue Yonder than the whole season 13. And that says a lot. I don't care how they change the canon. It's a 60 year old show, of course there's gonna be plenty of inconsistences and canon changes, but I want them to make me feel something out of it. Make me believe in whatever story you're telling me. And I think RTD is perfect at doing those things. That's why the bi-regeneration was mind-blowing, because I was crying my heart out and because he gave it a motive and a lot of emotions to support it. I trust him to do brilliant things as he always did. So yeah, I'm on board. Ncuti's run is gonna be fantastic, I'm sure of it. (And we get to keep Tennant which is the most wonderful thing of all this mess!)
Several things: They said bi generation was a myth so it’s a one off thing which gives Tennants Doctor a happy ending which he deserves. The Tardis splitting makes perfect sense to me because 14 and 15 both played the game and won so they both get a prize. 14s prize was the Toymakers banishment and 15s was his own Tardis
i loved it! really didn't expect that ending, but it feels right! now i can enjoy the new episodes, while feeling closure about everything that came before :D
I don't think it undercuts Ncuti for the time being. It can actually help him to move on from both the trauma in character (we already see a way healthier mindset in these moments), and on a meta level the writer controversy of 13. But without having to press a big reset button, losing all that was. That's what 14 is there for. I do also wonder about what rules they decide on. But maybe 14 retiring means he'll end up not regenerating. Like the master before decided not to regenerate. Big fan of the social commentary in this one. Very true, very clear but didn't overstay its welcome in the plot itself. It was the setting.
The leading theory I've been seeing about 14 retiring is that he's gonna become the Curator from the 50th anniversary and he'll regenerate backwards into "just the old favorites" like the Curator said to 11
I definitely feel that Ncuti should be given a Tenant-free season. But if there is indeed a UNIT spin-off coming up, that would be an ideal setting for the occasional Tenant cameo (especially now that the two companions who became his family -- Mel and Donna -- are working there)
I'll say what i said on many other reactions: I loved it, its the perfect "ending" for 14 and in a way 10 and Donna, they all deserve a happy end and they got it. AS WELL as leaving the door open for them to return in the future in either a Spin-off (rumored UNIT Series) or in future episodes. It's wonderful and fuck the haters. Also those laughs when the tooth got picked up totally had been the Masters (I think heard Saxon and Missy)
It's a time loop. Ncuti said, "I'm okay because you fix yourself." Which means, eventually he will turn into the 15th Doctor and be recalled to save himself before moving on.
That's what I'm have been thinking to I will say I like the bi generation more then the timeless child stuff mainly because it doesn't change what has come before
Pretty sure that the fixing is referencing regeneration in general, when he regenerates it does more than just physical.. i changes hes mental also, soo this explains why in past alot of the new doctors dont dwell or mention previous doctors things, sooo they will be 2 doctors each with there own regenerations, because the timeless child isnt timelord and has unlimited regenerations anyway.... sooo if you half unlimited... its 2 unlimiteds
That's a very literal interpretation of what The Doctor says to himself. And I don't necessarily think that a "time loop" is what is being referred to here. I see the "fix yourself" thing being more psychological. With regeneration being a renewal and a casting off of past "sins" or ailments.
@SokaPup I don't know, I took op's stance. The Doctor has been carrying the trauma and really deepening their own darkness since 9. It feels like the point of the scene with Donna's family at the end is that 14 is going through therapy and can take a break because 14 knows there is the Doctor out there to help out.
The Giggle was a crazy special for sure, but I really liked it. It was both Weird & Wonderful. I loved Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker. Teared up a little seeing the Doctor so happy at the table scene.
This was such a beautiful send off for David as the Doctor. His final words evolved from "I don't want to go" to the very heartfelt "I've never been so happy in my life"
I read the fantastic fan theory that 14 now became the seed that would grow into the curator, visiting old faces, enjoying his life, while the 15th stays the doctor, out there, saving the universe.
Thanks, Omni! ⏳ Mr. Harris' villainous Spice Girls number was brilliant. Mr. Gatwa's charm is immense... I'm looking very forward to more of his run! And such a sweet swansong for Mr. Tennant and Ms. Tate.
I love that the new doctor looks to be a healer! He’s been a soldier all to long, and ‘rude’, and ‘angry’ - and I like that they’re not denying we need the soldier, but there definitely comes a time to heal. But I do not get the pants thing?
I _loved_ this special. I had a smile on my face practically the whole time, and the ending moved me to tears. I already love 15 for his energy and compassion. And what a delight to see Mel again! The bi-generation thing doesn't bother me at all. People forget that we've had weird regeneration before. Remember when a future incarnation of the doctor was stalking the 4th doctor and when he died it merged with him to regenerate into their new form? This feels different but similar to that.
The Doctor who didn't want to go, never actually leaves. Perfect ending. Perfect beginning, since there will be a David Tennant 14th doctor series at some point.
The Doctor travels through time and space. So, at any moment any version of The Doctor could appear. I am anticipating the epic crossover with 10 or 14, 11, 12,13, and 15. Maybe 8, I doubt 9 will do it.
Remember when the 11th doctor said "I Finally know where I'm going, where I've always been going, Home." back in the 50th anniversary. I guess he did just not the one he expected.
I really couldn't think of a better way to get to the 100th anniversary. We got 2 cryptic warnings of future threats this seasons: Meep's Boss who wants 2 hearted things & "The One Who Waits" that the Toymaker talked about. Would be cool to see the Old Doctor coming back every once & a while, this could be a way the Curator explains the "coming back" of favorites faces. The Doctor splitting is something I've always wanted. I would also like to see a series where the Doctor & Master regenerate at the same time & their minds get confused & we spend a series figuring out who is which through a variety of semi-moral adventures as they both work out who they are.
14 sticking around earth makes me think of that 11th Doctor run-in with the Curator who had retired and mentioned something about "revisiting the old favorites". I guess i like to think that maybe 14 is him far in the future, spending his time being a quiet guardian and cryptically arranging for other versions of himself to be in the right place at the right time to save the day.
Well 15th said he moved on because 14th moved on, so for me, he just came sooner than he should, and this is why they split, to let 14th rest a bit, and (I guess), that when he will "die", he will merge again with N'cuti without changing (N'cuti will stay himself), or, he will become the 16th with we don't know who yet
I think this is the first episode in ages to do social commentary properly. They didn't turn to camera and explain the message, they didn't lecture you, they let the commentary and story speak for itself. It felt so refreshing. A couple weird moments, growing pains let's call them, but this was a fantastic episode!
I would actually say that Special 2 did a good job at commentary on AI and Deepfakes. They learned from our negative emotions and couldn't get the hands right, but eventually got so good at mimicry that you needed a powerful scan to figure out what is real.
The Celestial Toymaker was one of my favourite stories as a child. Because Who was regularly repeated in Australia during the 1960s and early 70s I watched the Celestial Toymaker at least three times. I had to wait 57 years to see The Toymaker in a new story. I hope we don’t have to wait that long ago to see him again.
I love how the spice girl song 'spice up your life' lyrics basically told us what was about to happen to the doctor. Also i love that it was because of the Toymaker messing with the physics of reality that he was the maker of his own downfall as without him the doctors bigeneration and duplicate Tardis could never have happened. Amazing episode and fantastic way to celebrate the anniversary.
If you want more David Tennant, I would love to see you react to Good Omens if you haven't watched it yet. It's so good! He was also wonderful in Around the World in 80 Days. I loved this episode. I love that the Doctor gets a happy ending and also gets to continue with more adventures. I can't wait to see more of the 15th Doctor!
Tenant Doctor finally gets to retired and end the old BBC era with the Doctor possibly becoming the CURATOR. Now we follow the next incarnation of the Doctor with all the memories but none of the guilty in his shoulders as he told Tennat he was “fix” of that by Tennant Doctor. We going back to Season 1 as the creators of the show said. This will be the first Doctor of a new body in the Disney Plus era reboot of Doctor Who.
Fifteen did make it clear that he was the Doctor which Fourteen would one day regenerate into . ("I'm alright now because you fixed you fixed yourself. We're doing rehab in the wrong order.") But somehow, via the Toymaker, that regeneration was pulled back in time and emerged early from Fourteen. Presumably when Fourteen does finally regenerate he will simply disappear as he travels back in time to emerge from his earlier self as Fifteen. Or I could be wrong.
14:34 - they should have had him turn over a '10' card, as he was the 10th doctor. 14:50 - it also means that the Doctor's advantage from the prior game is lost. From this point on, it is equal between the Toymaker and the Doctor. 15:02 - ever heard the phrase 'folding up shop'? 22:25 - part of the reaction to the wheelchair-accessible, is due to one fan writing in that they loved the TARDIS but would be unable to enter as they use a wheelchair. So the new TARDIS had a ramp added.
I wonder if when the gold tooth was left behind The Master was freed, and that was Missy's hand that picked up the tooth? Such a great special, looking forward to the Christmas Special and the run of the new Doctor!
I believe David Tennant’s 14th Doctor will become the Curator. In the 50th Anniversary the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) met the Curator. The Curator retired from being the Doctor. David’s Doctor retires in this episode. Now Ncuti takes the mantle of the 15th Doctor.
I have a feeling we’re about to be getting peak doctor who again from here on out, just from the little bit we saw of Ncuti Gatwa’s doctor and from the looks of the Christmas special trailer it just seems like he’s got a mixture of the same energy that 10 and 11 had
I’ve no real issue with bigeneration (although it’s not been well explained) but I don’t like that this is the second time that RTD has found a way to keep a version of the Tennant Doctor around while also regenerating him on to the next version. And this one doesn’t feel as earned as what was done with Rose’s Doctor.
Ok, at a quick glance (I mena there are 200 comments, I'm not going through all of them), it doesn't look like anyone explained while Ncuti is half nekkid. There's the key, half, he's wearing half of Tennant's costume. Oh, and speaking of multiple Doctors option, what if this means Jo Martin can exist in this universe? I'd love to see her get her own show.
Gatwa feels like, especially what I saw in the preview of the christmas special, he feels like what would happen if Captain Jack Harknis were to become the Doctor and I'm HERE FOR IT!
After the regeneration, the Doctors clothes were split between the two Doctors. Everyone notices Shutie in his boxers, but noone hase mentioned the implication, Tennet is freeballing it!
I love the bigeneration. And if it means anything, I am a lifelong Whovian, started on the 4the Doctor and as a kid joined the Doctor Who Fan Club of America and even imported jelly babies from England to see what the Doctor was eating. So I have Whovian nerd street cred. But that doesn’t mean anything. But I love this ep and what it has done. These Specials were great, and not just because we got Tennant and Tate together again.
Im excited for 15. Im glad that 1-14 finally get to take a break from everything they went through ever since the beginning. Now we get to have the fun doctor that is healing and free. And the comments i see are: Disney is ruining Doctor Who. Its like people dont get it. Disney will ony distribute the streams. That's it. Disney has nothing todo with casting, filming, lots , etc. Thats all BBC. Dumb ass will be dumbasses. If its not one thing, its another. With Jodi, it was the toxic fanboys who hated the doctor as a woman. They also hated ( I call her runaway doctor) who was a black woman. Imagine the comments that will be coming. All we can do is be louder than the haters. I enjoy NPH. To me, he shined and i hope to see him again. Love David and Catherine. I hope we get the unit spin off with them showing up for a couple of episodes
On BBC iPlayer (The BBC's streaming service) the eras have been grouped under three sections- _Doctor Who_ "The modern adventures- from Christopher Eccleston to Jodie Whittaker", _Doctor Who (1963-1996)_ and _Doctor Who (2023-) So it would appear that the BBC _is_ playing this as a new era. New-nu-Who, if you will.
I never picked up on the split clothing until watching Watch with Marcella. I think of the numbering of the Doctor as with Led Zeppelin I, II and III then the fourth was untitled but is known as IV as it was the fourth, or is that simplistic. The hallway, was that not used in another adventure, can't remember the Dr or Season though. I tend to watch but only recognise previous happening by a subconscious trigger, quite like knowing what the next track on an album or CD is .
RTD said after the show. That all Doctors have bigenerated. That's the reason there has been multiple doctors in some episodes. Hopefully Tennant becomes The Curator.
I think the Bigeneration has kind of brought Ncuti's Doctor ahead of time. Tennant 's doctor needs to go though his Therapy with Donna for Ncuti to be emotionally ok and then Tenant's next regeneration will sort of merge him back into the single doctor, kinda like he might regenerate and be brought as Ncuti to this point of time. Sort of a time loop where Tenant loops back in on himself.
So… 14 goes on to become “The Curator” from the 50th anniversary right?? That’s what I’m getting from all of this?? That would explain all of his enigmatic hinting at “Revisiting some old favourites”
@@jackdubz4247Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't make them idiots, they're opinion is just as valid as yours. Wish they weren't so rude about it too but when you call others idiots for not liking a storyline, you kinda set yourself up for their reaction

"The One Who Waits" sounds mighty intimidating. Especially one that frightens someone who manipulates reality.
I'm just going to call 15 "The Love Doctor" he has shown more empathy and kindness towards himself than any other Doctor has. I've never seen a Doctor happy to meet himself, but these two hug, that's the first thing they do after separated.
He's definitely the "healer" part of the Doctor's code.
Doctor feel good perhaps
I think that might be a side effect of Jody's incarnation and the lessons that she learned given how guarded she was in her very first season
“The Mental Health Doctor“ (14 lol)
Yeah it sounds like he somehow lived through 14's healing so he's able to enjoy travelling again without all the guilt.
I was under the impression that- because Bi-Generation is a myth, the only reason they were able to do it was due to the influence of the Toymakers domain making the impossible possible
Exactly, like the line of salt. He runs off of superstition.
I like that
I hope so it wouldnt happen again
That's a fascinating idea
It's like the Doctor said, the Toymaker doesn't follow the usual science and chaos based laws of the universe so his presence creates new laws of the universe.
Something so touching about tennant referring to rose as his niece implying while donna is his best friend, he thinks of her as a sister basically. That got me to tears honestly
That, and calling Shaun his brother-in-law
It's been wonderful to see a close friendship between two people presenting as opposite sex to be so enthusiastically platonic. Since the revival there's always been a weird tension to have a romantic thing between Doctor and companion (with the exception of 12 and Bill) and it's nice to see two people love eachother so dearly and be okay with just leaving it at that
Wasn’t it in the Pompeii episode that they were mistaken as brother and sister because people thought they looked alike? 😅 They are very much family and I adore that.
The way I see it, this episode marked the perfect ending for the NuWho era (9 to 14) and amazing clean slate for The Whoinverse Era (15 onwards) to start from
That's fair. This really does feel like a new thing
I agree!
Yup, that's how I saw it.
The arc will go from being bitter about his fate and not wanting to go, to him having his reward and saying "I'm ready to go"
Same. It's such a nice conclusion for him. I was expecting a really nice emotional goodbye, and was pleasantly surprised by him getting this
I absolutely love that 15 is "Fine" because 14 spends the time fixing himself.
You're definitely not.
Absolutely right about that
NPH has done magic tricks since he was a kid. He did the cards, the juggling and the puppeteering.
With different accents
In fact, the whole thing back then might now seems almost like a premontition of bringing Tennant back,
14 still regenerates into 15 at some point, sorry you've got it totally wrong 😂😂😂
People who don’t like it can stop and say the doctor retired if they like, others can go on with Ncuti on more adventures.
bloody hell Ncuti oozes pure charisma and sex appeal. I haven't seen that by any doctor of NuWho
#fabulousfifteenth 😊
Took decates but Mel is finally allowed to use a computer!
A fun theory I've heared is that the 14th is going to become the curator of the 50th anniversary. I really love that idea. He is just this grandpa Dr. who resides on earth has a chill live and revisits old favorits.
the whole Stookie Bill/John Logie Baird bit is actual 'history'. Thats exactly how television was invented
The leading theory I've been seeing about 14 retiring is that he's gonna become the Curator from the 50th anniversary and he'll regenerate backwards into "just the old favorites" like the Curator said to 11
Had an absolute blast with this episode. Can’t wait to see what’s next. 😊
Also those laughs when the tooth got picked up totally had been the Masters (I think heard Saxon and Missy)
fun fact, stooky bill is based on the real life doll stooky bill, which is what baird used to test his television
I instantly loved Ncuti's Doctor.
Yep. How I read it as well. 14 does what he needs to process his trauma and ptsd, and so 15 can move forward emotionally healthier basically.
The Giggle was a crazy special for sure, but I really liked it. It was both Weird & Wonderful. I loved Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker. Teared up a little seeing the Doctor so happy at the table scene.
Mel DOES look good. I was actually really surprised, because we only saw her for a few seconds in Power of the Doctor.
This was such a beautiful send off for David as the Doctor. His final words evolved from "I don't want to go" to the very heartfelt "I've never been so happy in my life"
And so begins the next era of Doctor Who
#fabulousfifteenth #doctorwho 💜
I read the fantastic fan theory that 14 now became the seed that would grow into the curator, visiting old faces, enjoying his life, while the 15th stays the doctor, out there, saving the universe.
Thanks, Omni! ⏳ Mr. Harris' villainous Spice Girls number was brilliant. Mr. Gatwa's charm is immense... I'm looking very forward to more of his run! And such a sweet swansong for Mr. Tennant and Ms. Tate.
That scene of The Toymaker dancing to Spice Girls was both confusing, funny and terrifying.
I loved it.😂
It was a fun episode, i laughed that the biggest threat of this special just being people having no filter and it being solved by a game of catch.
It wasn’t just 14 wishing 15 good luck it was David telling Ncuti good luck as well which I thought was awesome
I love that The Doctor is reset take away all the gloom from him and get back to Adventures in Time and Space!
I love that the new doctor looks to be a healer! He’s been a soldier all to long, and ‘rude’, and ‘angry’ - and I like that they’re not denying we need the soldier, but there definitely comes a time to heal.
But I do not get the pants thing?
They each got half of the outfit.
@@pandaphil 14 going commando since 15 got the pants.
Was just wondering when this would drop ha ha, can’t wait for your reaction dude.
The bigeneration i heard goes all the way back to the beginning
I _loved_ this special. I had a smile on my face practically the whole time, and the ending moved me to tears. I already love 15 for his energy and compassion. And what a delight to see Mel again!
The bi-generation thing doesn't bother me at all. People forget that we've had weird regeneration before. Remember when a future incarnation of the doctor was stalking the 4th doctor and when he died it merged with him to regenerate into their new form? This feels different but similar to that.
Finally. Can't wait to see your reaction. Thanks Omn1 💖🙏
Excccleston probably won't since that behind the scenes arguing , but 11-15 would be the biggest crossover
Remember when the 11th doctor said "I Finally know where I'm going, where I've always been going, Home." back in the 50th anniversary. I guess he did just not the one he expected.
Yayyy!!! So curious to see your reaction!
Well 15th said he moved on because 14th moved on, so for me, he just came sooner than he should, and this is why they split, to let 14th rest a bit, and (I guess), that when he will "die", he will merge again with N'cuti without changing (N'cuti will stay himself), or, he will become the 16th with we don't know who yet
they setting up for a bigger villian that not even the toymaker dare challenge.
Really hope this isnt the end of the Toymaker. Such an interesting character.
I’m sure if RTD can persuade NPH to reprise the role, we will see him again. He’s just too good not to get him back at some point in the future.
Honestly, if we had a spin-off where Donna and Fourteen work for UNIT, I would *eat that shit up nonstop.* I want this!
This just made me so happy. And Ncuti's doctor looks like he's going to be so much FUN
Fifteen did make it clear that he was the Doctor which Fourteen would one day regenerate into . ("I'm alright now because you fixed you fixed yourself. We're doing rehab in the wrong order.")
But somehow, via the Toymaker, that regeneration was pulled back in time and emerged early from Fourteen. Presumably when Fourteen does finally regenerate he will simply disappear as he travels back in time to emerge from his earlier self as Fifteen. Or I could be wrong.
"You make games about bricks falling upon other bricks! You are exceptional"
😂😂
I loved it and so excited in a long time for the new adventures
Also the actor that played the original toy maker the way back when when on to play the first Alfred with Michael Keaton many many years later
NPH was amazing!
I have a feeling we’re about to be getting peak doctor who again from here on out, just from the little bit we saw of Ncuti Gatwa’s doctor and from the looks of the Christmas special trailer it just seems like he’s got a mixture of the same energy that 10 and 11 had
Now there are 2 versions of Tennent's Doctor just chillin' and living life. One in another dimension with Rose and one hanging with Donna and fam. :)
Perfect. It was perfect.❤
When the toy maker shows his gold tooth, notice just how many teeth he has. Easily more than 2x normal
well technically there are always multiple doctors out there :D time travel
This became one of my new favourite episodes ever
Patrick Harris what epic performance
The wheelchair accessibility of the Tardis was teased in the first special. No more stairs inside the Tardis.😁
I read it as 14 eventually regenerates to 15 in time. As if he time skipped to his later self.
You said we now have two doctors but aren't all doctors sort of always there that is why we had multi doctor stories before.
He reminds me a little of Christopher Eccleston's doctor.
I think it might be Missy that got the gold tooth.
That was the most dramatic game of catch I've seen since JO JO's bizarre adventure
Remember Omni, 10 started out with a Prime Minister who killed the Cycorax when they're retreating.
I can imagine The 14th Doctor being at Graham's Get togethers. I would love to see that.
So… 14 goes on to become “The Curator” from the 50th anniversary right?? That’s what I’m getting from all of this??
That would explain all of his enigmatic hinting at “Revisiting some old favourites”
Literally all the reactions I've watched are people going "I really liked it, but I'm worried how others will react." 😅
It's a sad reflection on the toxicity of fandom: That we can't just enjoy stuff. We are now always so concerned about what the idiots think.
@@jackdubz4247Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't make them idiots, they're opinion is just as valid as yours. Wish they weren't so rude about it too but when you call others idiots for not liking a storyline, you kinda set yourself up for their reaction
@@deathswitch2404the anti woke grifter channels are going to be outraged no matter what.
@@jackdubz4247 Its not toxic to not like something, fml lol. You are allowed to hate something as well as like something and complain about things you like and are passionate about. Thats not toxic
@@deathswitch2404 Oh, it makes them idiots. No doubt about that. And people give these idiots far too much leeway by pandering to their whining and moaning, instead of just calling out their idiocy for what it is.
