    Special One: THE STAR BEAST
    Special Two: WILD BLUE YONDER
    Special Three: THE GIGGLE
    MORE ABOUT DOCTOR WHO:
    Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since November 23rd, 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "The Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, appearing to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British metropolitan police box, which was a common sight in Britain in the 1960’s when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes like the Daleks and Cybermen while working to save civilisations and save people in need.
    Beginning with William Hartnell, over fifteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation and body, a plot device in which a Timelord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally.
    Ncuti Gatwa had previously been announced as Jodie Whittaker's successor after David Tennant reprises his role as the doctor in the 60th anniversary specials as the programme's lead, and many reports stated he would play the Fourteenth Doctor and that Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor would regenerate into an incarnation portrayed by Gatwa. Upon Jodie Whittaker's final appearance as the character in The Power Of The Doctor, she instead regenerated into a form similar to the Tenth Doctor. This character, portrayed by Tennant, was confirmed to be the Fourteenth Doctor, with later clarification that Ncuti Gatwa would actually portray the Fifteenth Doctor. Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th doctor has also had his companion announced as Millie Gibson playing Ruby Sunday live on Children In Need.
    On 24 September 2021, the BBC announced Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as showrunner, after having previously acted as showrunner from 2005-2010 for the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. He will succeed Chibnall for the show's 60th anniversary in 2023 and beyond. Davies will be joined by the Bad Wolf production company, which was founded by former Doctor Who executive producer Julie Gardner and former BBC head of drama Jane Tranter. In October 2021, it was announced that Sony would acquire a majority of Bad Wolf. Bad Wolf also took over creative control of Doctor Who beginning with the specials, allowing the BBC to focus on establishing Doctor Who as a global brand. The new era of Doctor Who is being labelled as RTD2 as it is Russel’s second era of Doctor Who.

    I really like the theory that 14 goes on to be the Curator implying that he's lived a nice, long, happy life from that point on. It's what our Doctor deserves after all the traumatic stuff they've been through. And I am *incredibly* excited for 15. It really feels like we're entering an entirely new era of the series again and that this is gonna be a kind of mini reboot.

    • @HOTD108_
      @HOTD108_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The official novelization of The Giggle confirms that when 14 eventually dies "for real" he gets sucked back in time to the moment of the bi-generation, emerging as 15. The bi-generation basically just pulled the Doctor's future-self into existence early, creating a time loop that 14 will complete after his "rehab" with Donna is complete.
      Edit: 15 exclaiming "Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?" despite having already lived through that moment as 14 is explained by the typical post-regeneration temporary amnesia. It's assumed that in the hours following the Toymaker's defeat and when 15 told 14 to retire for a bit is when the memories returned, which is how 15 knew that 14 needed to take a rest, because he remembered telling himself that back when he used to be 14 (similar to Time Crash).

    On paper, if I'd read the idea of bi regeneration before hand, I'd have been fuming but for me it really worked.
    The idea that this character that people have been watching run and not looking back since the 60s has finally got a happy ending is just lovely. He gets to settle and enjoy life while the doctor continues his adventures.
    Also I can smell a spin off series with David cooking...

    • @chazo1367

      It also gives fans a choice, if they are burnt out on it they can stop here with David retiring, others can follow Ncuti in the soft reboot for new adventures. It works as a way to give everyone what they want in the end.

      @@chazo1367 Yeah, no. Sorry, but this is objectively the wrong way to see it. The main theme of Doctor Who has always been, right from its inception, change. To be fair having the new title have “whoniverse” at the beginning makes me feel like we are going to have a few new spin offs, hopefully one of David getting over his guilt and accepting his mistakes, because it feels a bit off to have David roaming space and having a new family if that’s just where it ends for the rest of the show

    In the last few days I've made a complete 180 on the bigeneration. At first, I felt it was a cheat; that 14 would be separate from 15, that they were essentially clones of each other like some think here in the comments. So it felt like one of them wasn't The Doctor. Either 14 wasn't because he was willing to just not help the universe, or that 15 wasn't because he never truly dealt with his trauma.
    But, after rewatching this episode several times, I think when 15 says "I'm fine because you’re fine. We're doing rehab out of order" that means he's experienced what 14 will with Donna and the rest of 14's life. And then when 14 eventually passes, he regenerates but it causes him to regenerate into 15 during the bigeneration scene of The Giggle. The reason 15 doesn’t seem to remember anything is that, in the 50th anniversary and earlier multi doctor stories, they've clarified that only the most recent Doctor can keep the memories of multi Doctor events.
    So I absolutely love the idea that 14 gets to make amends for everything before him, journey with his Tardis and see past companions and say goodbye and all that. And then when he eventually dies, he becomes 15. It could even be possible that 14 regenerates several times BEFORE the bigeneration sends him back to become 15. He could become older faces, maybe even regenerate in reverse until 1, even becoming the Curator, and then when he dies he gets warped to the point where 15 comes in. And then 15 would still be the 15th "Doctor" in the same way that 9 is the 9th Doctor even tho the War Doctor exists.
    And this is why 15 seems so eager to travel because this will be the first time he's back to being The Doctor in seemingly a very, very long time.
    This also works extremely well thematically, and makes the 3 parts of the 60th feel like one thematically coherent movie to book end "Modern" and "old" Who. The Star Beast is about identity, Wild Blue Yonder is about how sometimes problems can be so hard to deal with that they take time, and can't be immediately solved (the "not things" using the pairs fast thinking against them, them being defeated by a slow, gradual process), and then The Giggle connects these two episodes by being about healing from trauma. The giggle in the TVs causes humaity to listen to its base instincts and to always want to "win" and be correct. The Doctor has been doing this with his regenerations as he's just continued to move forward and listen to his base instincts that he can't stop traveling or truly deal with what's happened in his life. So the 60th anniversary trilogy is about how one can find their "identity" through "slow healing" if they disregard their "base instincts" and take the time needed to truly heal. Really beautiful thematically.
    Sorry for the long comment, but there's so much to these 60th specials that it's wild. Lol

      @user-ix8uy8cn9o 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would fully agree with this except for the vagueness of the actual lines in the episode! Yes the rehab line indicates that their timelines are muddled but why is it kept so vague apart from that? Apart from that line everything else seems to point that it's just a biological split, it feels like maybe some lines and stuff were cut as the leak that predicted the events of the episode seem to be more specific, with it also saying the TARDIS is from the future as well and gets pulled back. I just hope 14 does become 15 properly as it's way better than having two unconnected Doctor's with seperate memories.

      Which, however, leaves us with two separate TARDISes and only one Doctor. Ncuti leaves the OG TARDIS in his future to come back to the Toymaker fight, then clones the same TARDIS but younger, flies off in the clone, therefore the OG is left somewhere in its future. With no Doctor.

    This *One Who Waits* is a being so powerful and intimidating that it makes even the godlike Toymaker quake in his boots and flee in terror. Heavens help any number of Doctors who have to go up against whoever or whatever that One is.

    I think the bi generation is for 14 to recover from the trauma from 9 - 14. Then he'll merge back with 15th. And 15 is so carefree as he has gotten over that trauma. The 15 here is the 14th who has gotten over his trauma. And ofcourse the world will need a doctor when the other doctor is going through self therapy hence the bi generation.

      Many people guess that once David's Doctor is done with his rehab/therapy by living with the Nobles, he'll eventually go back to the events of the Giggle and becomes Ncuti.

      Doubt it. I think Tennant will be probably reserved for Christmas specials or big events, you can’t have a doctor out there doing nothing forever, but I would expect Tennent to leave the show for a while. Been murmurs for a long time about a doctor-verse of sorts, I am sure we’ll see Matt Smith, Ecceslton and Capaldi back so maybe Tennent is saved until then too. But in the near future, Tennent will be shelved

    I didn’t care much for the first two specials, but this one was fantastic. I’m not getting the hate already out there for this episode.
    A homage to the origins of television, excellent performances from Tennant, Neil Patrick Harris and the rest, and Ncuti looks like he is going to be a great Doctor
    Yes there was some messaging, but actually no more than there has been throughout most of new who (and much less than the travesty of Star Beast) - we’ve basically had the Doctor telling us how bad humanity is since Eccleston graced our screens

    You could tell that they were setting up the new UNIT spin-off with the Vlinx coming out of no-where, and it would seem it might well have Mel and Donna in it. Russell has a hard job letting go, but I hope he doesn't over use David Tennant in UNIT too much as I think that would take away the spotlight from Ncuti, and it needs to be with him as the new Doctor. I'm really exited to see Ncuti's Doctor as I am absolutely loving the energy he's bringing to the part.

    I couldn't have wished for a better ending for 10/14 & Donna. Well earned. Especially considering that Ten had one of the shortest in-universe lifespans (5-6 years... where Eleven had over 1000+, etc...). And according to The Giggle novelization... Fourteen only been around for 15 hrs at the bi-generation point. So if anyone deserved more time to be happy and heal... it's 10/14.
    My 2008/2009 self can also finally be full hearted. As Donna's loss of self, and Ten's plaintiveness, always left me with slivers of lingering heartbreak.
    Chuti brings such amazing energy to Fifteen. He really shined here. Which makes even more sense that Fourteen has to stick around and heal... otherwise Fifteen wouldn't be this way. Can't wait for Christmas!

    I like that they split the character for this so he's not the same Doctor from before, he's his own Doctor for the next Doctor Who. Because lets face it BBC Doctor Who is over, the second Disney fully takes over its gonna be nothing but Panderverse nonsense for the woke people to tweet about without watching the show. SO it was a good idea to end the Doctor's story here and show him happy and retired THEN already have another Doctor go around the world as almost like a spinoff type deal so this is the new Doctor that Disney can use.
