A spectacular investment coin weighing 10 kilograms has been released by The Perth Mint.
Made from 99.9% pure silver, the large Australian Lunar bullion release celebrates the 2011 Year of the Rabbit.
This video shows part of the production process involved in making such a large Australian legal tender coin.

The 2011 Year of the Rabbit is very a desirable coin. This coin only costs about $16,000 at the moment. Only 173 of these coins were ever minted. As collectors hoard this issue and silver climbs, this coin will pass $25,000. APMEX may have one of these coins right now...I saw it there last week.

Awesome. Yet, the premium on that fine piece of silver is sky high! Best to get it's little brother and get closer to spot. (Easier to carry as well...)

it will sky rocket for sure, everyone is starting to realise the potential investment and starting to stack silver... so when the shares go up and up and up and up to the point of peak, people will sell all their silver making it collapse. that's why PM's go in cycles, builds up, crashes down.

@StukityFarnsworth The small 'condoms' are actually called finger cots and are available in boxes of a dozen or so, in assorted sizes - pinky to thumb - at many pharmacies, if not as stock items, certainly as special orders. I have used these to protect fingers with nasty cuts while showering or other situations where wearing a latex glove is undesirable or impractical.

@SNOOKUMSOWNER The extra work is hand polishing and finishing using special polishing pastes and balsa wood polshing sticks, all done under magnifying glasses and bright lighting. Very fiddly and time consuming. The packaging also takes time.

It's a much better investment than the stock market or even real estate. There's significant counter party risk in those investments but not in physical precious metals.

.9995 is what the actual reading is on silver eagles and coins liek this which means there is a small amoutn of copper in it and maybe a very small amount of nickle even but def ther eis copper in what ppl think is ( 100 ) percent pure the perth mint and others at this point have managed to make a coin that is not only .999 and .9999 but now they have made a coin that is .99999 fine silver

I just bought mine and won't open it up just keep it sealed so if I sell it the buyer will get it just as I did from the Perth Mint. Check it out on Ebay. I wish the video included the pressing, and wonder what the other "hours" of work to make the coin perfect. I guess polishing etc. I had the ten kilo tiger but sold it, so had to hop right over to the rabbit. My listing is under RICKSNEWSTORE on Ebay.

I notice this coin doesnt have a Reeded edge,I can understand making kilo silver bullion coins but ten kilo's is just ridiculous.

well as there is no actual 100 percent i know of there is however now coins that are not only .999 and .9999 but they have even made coins that are .99999 fine gold and silver so to say there is no pure silver your wrong , if you wont concede tha .99999 is pure then what ever

Too bad they tend to be higher premium than the 1kg coins.
There are space engineering labs and electronics labs producing substances with over .9999999999% purity. In the vacuum of space it is very possible for clusters of pure element atoms without contaminants to drift along. So therefor 100%. Outside of the vacuum of space, here on earth I don't think it's possible for humans to produce substances free of contaminants however...

99.9% or .999 parts of 1 = pure. There is no such thing as 100% Au or Ag.
